Horrible service. I applied for a social security card 3 months ago that I never ever received. I had to ask for the manager 3 times to finally obtain my social security number that allows me to work legally.

Now that I am going through the « lost card » process, even if I did not lose it, the office is closed for whatever reason even whether it says everywhere that it is open, and that a woman on the phone last week told me to come today.
$25 in Uber thrown out the window.

Thanks for nothing.

Horrible… I’ve been trying to speak with someone since October. You can’t get through on the phone, and if you’re lucky enough to do so you are disconnected immediately. I tried going into the office and they tell you that you need to call in and make an appointment.

I have no idea how they expect people to get anything accomplished with this office, I have been trying to call to get an appointment for weeks and will hold for sometimes hours until they hang up on me. No one answers the phone EVER! They want you to do everything online but you can only do that if you are a citizen (not permanent resident) and because I have not been able to get an appointment to update my ss card my DL has now expired and I cannot renew until I update my ss card, and I know they will give me a hard time about my DL being expired but I have been trying to resolve this issue for months. This is extremely frustrating.

Arrived a couple of minutes early for our appointment, made us stand outside without chairs. Not great service especially considering the fact a lot of older people use this service and they have nowhere to sit outside the office while waiting. The security officer was unfriendly and rude. Don't recommend this place, it's unfortunate that they treat people like this considering it's a government office. It's also unfortunate that this is the only place in the area to deal with social security issues, if you could go anywhere else I'd highly recommend it.

I had an appointment to renew my SSN card. There was no wait and the stuff is very nice, friendly and helpful. I had to go back home to grab one missing document and they still let me submit them all the same day. Thank you!

Due to COVID-19, the SSA office in the Highmark building (located on the 5th floor) does not see members of the general public face-to-face. They will only make an exception for people in extreme, dire situations (i.e. Refugee, alien, etc.). In order to receive a replacement Social Security Card, you can order one online or fill out a paper application and mail/drop off at the Highmark SSA office. Form SS-5 (11-2019), Application for a Social Security Card, is the correct form to fill out and submit to receive your Social Security Card. I filled out the paper application (it's just one page, fast, and super easy), and then submitted it with my actual Driver's License inside of a manilla envelope to the Highmark SSA office at 701 State Street, Suite #500. They require you to provide one form of official photo ID; such as a Driver's License, state-issued photo ID, military photo ID card, etc. This is done to verify that you are the actual person requesting the Social Security Card and to minimize fraud. If you are unable to provide an acceptable form of photo ID, then you must include the following alternative verification documents with your SS-5: a letter with your birthdate from a recent doctor/hospital appointment verifying your identity, or some other official letter from an authoritative source to verify your credentials. Call the toll-free number to receive the current acceptable alternatives to photo ID. The most concerning part of this application process is the fact that you are required to mail/drop off your actual Driver's License with the SS-5 inside the envelope. Photocopies, scanned copies, digital copies with your cell phone's camera, etc.none of them are accepted by the SSA for verifying your identity. I called the SSA office and asked, "Am I supposed to actually drop off my plastic card Driver's License, like my actual Driver's License, with the application? I'm going to get that back, right? " The lady replied with, "You're only the thousandth person to ask, hun. Yes, we input your application into our online system and scan your Driver's License the same day that you drop it off at our office. No later than the next business day. If you drop off your application by 2pm today, we'll be able to get your Driver's License in the mail outbox before we leave. " Needless to say, I was Batman that afternoon and impressively made the hit time. Many people, including myself, do not like the idea of our Driver's License just hanging out in a drop-off box on the 5th floor of some random building. Then, until your Driver's License makes its way back to you in the mail, you're worrying if it's going to get lost, misplaced, or stolen along the way. Plus, we may need our Driver's License for other life events (i.e. Proof of identity for other matters, traffic stop, etc.). Thankfully, I received my Driver's License four days after I dropped it off with my application. I submitted it to the Highmark SSA office on Tuesday and USPS delivered it to my apartment on Saturday morning. My Social Security Card arrived about 10 days after I dropped off my paper application at the Highmark SSA. The Social Security Card is printed and shipped out of the SSA office in Baltimore, Maryland. It will arrive via regular ground delivery via USPS. The application process is extremely easy - SS-5 is super fast to fill out (basic information and a quick signature), and photo ID is the only other thing to submit (if you have one). What is the cost for a Social Security Card? Here's the best part of the application process - APPLICATION FOR A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD IS FREE. AND. THE REPLACEMENT SOCIAL SECURITY CARD ITSELF IS ALSO FREE! NO CHARGES OR FEES WHATSOEVER!
