A huge thank you to Dr. Emme Gilchrist for catching a tiny hole way out at the edge of my retina that led to the discovery of more issues that needed immediate laser treatment. She recommended a full dilation exam, which I initially wanted to skip. If she hadn’t convinced me to go through with it, I probably would have needed major surgery only a few months later. Dr. Gilchrist was very thorough and the ophthalmologist she referred me to was impressed that she noticed the issue.

I stopped in for a quick repair to my glasses nose paddings. The technician was super nice and immediately took action. I was there for maybe 4 minutes before she returned with not only bed nose pads, but fixed the tension in the hinges and any crookedness in my glasses free of charge. Highly recommend this business, absolutely!

After going to two other stores for glasses adjustment I finally found South Philly Optical - the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They adjusted my glasses free of charge, and I didn't even purchase my glasses from them initially. Definitely going back!

I had an appointment to get contact lenses here and everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. When browsing glasses, the employee was super helpful with recommending frames I might like and alternative color options available online.

The frame of my glasses was wobbly and missing a screw. The kind salesperson took them back and fixed them completely even though I did not purchase the glasses at the store. On top of that, she did not charge me a dime. Will definitely be returning when I need my next pair of glasses. Class business.

Came in cause I had lost the screw and bended my glasses and could not fix them for the life of me. Called them, came in, the ladies were super nice, and they fixed my glasses in less then 15 minutes!

I dropped in to SPO to see if I could leave a pair of glasses with them to adjust and Javana did it for me on the spot for no charge! I’m so glad I finally made it in after so many friends have recommended this spot to me.

I have been going to the same optometrist for the last 20 years. Unfortunately with my schedule and childcare it’s been harder and harder the last few years to make it to them during office hours. It came to a point where I was out of contacts, my glasses were hot glued and even my husband had a huge scratch on his lens.
I am so glad I took a chance booking an appointment with South Philly Optical. Booking the appointment was so easy. I did it online, and found appointments for my husband and I within the week that worked with our schedules. The optometrist was so friendly and thorough with my exam. The technician who helped me pick out my frames was especially patient and gave me great input. My glasses were ready so much sooner than expected. I love my frames so much that I want to come back for a second pair. My husband also had a 5 star experience, of course he picked his frames out in half the time I did! Friendly and nice atmosphere but messed up my order twice (first time told me to come collect my order via email and when I arrived didn’t actually have the order at the location I ordered from, second time they shipped it to the wrong address despite asking for my address 3 different times including twice in store and on the phone). Love the staff they are super sweet- just wish this was easier.

This optical shop is terrific. I came in with a pair of broken eyeglasses and they were able to place those lenses into a new Silhouette frame for me on the spot, in less than a half hour! Their service and dedication to taking care of their customers is unsurpassed.

Best Optometrists appointment Ive ever had. The prescription for my lenses is spot on. I love the pair of Philly Eyeworks glasses I have too. I can finally see well!

Spoke to someone from the center city office who kindly explained to me that the south Philly location had more children options. When we walked the shop this evening, the woman at the front desk never came down to help us find a pair of glasses or asked what kind of glasses/if we had prescription or anything told us to “look through the drawers”. Never looked up at us again or asked if we needed help or anything. Not only did they not have any options for my child’s age after being told they would have, they whole experience was very distasteful. After reading the reviews and speaking to someone over the phone I was excited to try this place out for my daughters first pair. Never again.
