SQ Philip's Steaks reviews
18If you want a real philly cheesesteak experience without the hassle of being in a tourist trap, Philips is your place. The old fashioned is a must try for those who have done the wiz with their whole life. This is hands down my favorite cheesesteak in the city. Been going here for 15 years. Open 24/7 except around Christmas. Friendly staff, quick food, hypnotic yellow lights. This place is the real deal at a fair price. It's where I tell everyone to go if they have never been.
One the best cheesesteak places around that not many know about! You have to stop by and try it.
Grew up here in Philly a block from Philip's. Way better then Geno's or Pat's. Their meat isn't grisly. I only gave 4 star cuz they put a lot less meat from back in the day more roll then meat but then again Philly rolls are the best.
Prices definitely changed, just shy of $10.00 each.
Enjoy! Still worth a visit now and again.
When ever i work in south philly i always stop down to phillips for lunch.great service and always hits the spot.a must try
Been ordering from here since I lived on Hemberger street when I was a kid. The food is always good, it arrives quickly, and once when I did have an undercooked inside-out, (which they are truly the only ones who know how to do it other than Florida style themselves), they replaced the entire order even when I didn't want them too. It's amazing people can eat here 100 times and 1 time the food is off and then they write a bad review after ignoring the 99 great times. Still one of the best, definitely one of my favorites.
Best steaks in South Philly and the cheese fries are amazing. As usual the staff is fast and pleasantly nice.
Staff is always great, last steak I had here was not good. It was not fresh and clearly made hours ago.
Very overrated, too greasy, semi cold cheesesteak. I’m from Philadelphia but live in DC and wanted a cheesesteak so bad since it had been a while. Decided to stop here. Overpriced for what you get. Extensive menu which is good. My mom got a cheese dog with a choice of American, Provolone or Whiz, She chose American and all the did was break a slice of cheese in half and put it in one side of the hotdog. They could’ve at least melted the cheese. It was a pretty snowy day so hopefully that accounts for the poor meal
The made me wait while other customer was served with the same order and i was there way before.i have to ask about my sandwich before they start making it while busy gossiping.i guess black people are not welcome there and the food was not that good.first and last time
I’ve tried many cheese steaks while living in philadelphia. I have to give it to Phil’s steaks as the overall best (in my opinion) in south Philly. I’m giving them a 5* based off of a few things. Taste, roll, quality of meat and cheese along with the customer service. I have to hit this one hard, Philly has a way of representing themselves as “order and next! ” When it comes to cheese steaks. Phil’s is the complete opposite. The staff is friendly and looking behind the counter, everything looks to be clean. Bravo guys.
The food was good the service was fast and the guys are very courteous, is one of those steaks that will make you do a happy dance with everybody!
Decent Philly, better than other stands who used thicker slices of meat but be on the lookout for places like jims or pats that use more chopped slices because they give more flavor!
I had Phil’s steaks this past Saturday. Now I’m typically a buffalo chicken cheese steak kinda girl; but I had their steak wiz w/ onions and OH MY GOD. 5 stars every time. I will recommend and I will definitely definitely be coming back soon!
Always a good cheese steak. Went at the wrong time, but some days there's never a good one. My fave is Prov Wit. It may not be the traditional but it's my go-to!
Pros: This place is exactly what you want from a South Philly cheese steak shop. I got a mushroom chicken cheese steak and an "inside out pizza" (basically just a deep fried mini Stromboli) both were everything I wanted and nothing I didn't.
Cons: I think $9 is a bit pricey for a small cheese steak, but I'd gladly pay it again. #Delicious
I go to Philip's for their mozzarella sticks. They're crispy and have just the right amount of oozing cheese in them. Their sauce is great and they're ready in a jiffy.
When to this little spot due to great reviews I read and wanting to try a new place. This place being open 24 hours was great! The chicken cheesesteak & cheesesteak lacked cheese period. Onions and peppers were grilled great. The cheesesteaks were on the smaller side compared to local mom and pop shops all through Philly. There could have been more flavor and more cheese. The french fries lacked flavor and Crispiness. The onion rings were fresh and good. I have had better cheese steaks from other places that insures there sandwiches are not dry. One star for being open 24 hours.
These guys treat you with family spirit and kinderness.
There generosity is somthing that you only see and get in the Movies or in South Philly.
And thats a Coast to Coast Review.
Solute.and Happy Holidays.
The Cheese Steak Sandwich is something that can not be replaced or beat.
Top Grade Meat was cooked perfectly directly off the grill and onto the bread HOTT.
The oils and steam from the beef and the melting hot cheese wizz is steaming from the sandwich creating a a texture and flavor that is one of a kind.
THE Florida Pizza.is out of this WORLD!
