Sterling Optical - Camp Hill

I'm from out of town and found myself having trouble with my eyeglasses. Despite not being a Sterling customer I was treated wonderfully by the staff and had my issue corrected. I'd definitely use Sterling for all of my optical needs if I lived closer.

My medical insurance changed & I had to change vision centers. Sterling Optical in the Capital City Mall was on the list that accepted my insurance, so I made an appointment for an eye exam & new glasses.
Let me first by saying if you can't go a businesses website & leave a review, good or bad, that could be a problem. That is why I am leaving this review on Google. (Which would not let me leave a no star review)
I picked up my new glasses & knew from the minute I put them on there was something wrong with them. I have been wearing glasses since I'm 15 years old, I'm a senior now. They told me that I "had to get use to them". (I have trifocals & had to tip my head back all the way to see out the reader part on the bottom of the glasses.) I went back after a week & told them that they were not right. Some guy named Mark took my glasses & put marks all over them & took them in another room & came back & said "that should fix it. " I went back two more times with no satisfaction. I gave up & made an appointment with an optometrist office. It ended up that the prescription they gave me at Sterling Optical was completely WRONG, & because they strung me along my insurance co.can't do anything & it has cost me almost $400.00 to correct their mistake. Bottom line stay away from Sterling Optical in the Capital City Mall.

As always, everyone on staff was absolutely wonderful! Dr. Guerin was great with my daughter and made our appointments stress free and fun! Sandy has impeccable taste and found the perfect frames for me while I was getting my exam. Fabulous customer service all around!

Dr. Guerin and all of the staff here are wonderful, friendly, helpful people who go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, relaxed, and taken care of. They will take extra time with you if you need it and give you their undivided attention. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Will definitely continue giving them my business for all my eye care.

Mark is horrible don't ever go to Mark for help. He acts like his job is beneath him and that he doesn't want to be there or have time to help customers. When he does "help" you he doesn't actually help you. Super arrogant and dismissive. That being said everyone else that works there, including the doctor, is super helpful and nice. Just avoid Mark.

Mark was great at helping me pick out a new pair of glasses. Definitely recommend the service here.

The Camp Hill Store in the mall is the only place I will go for eye examinations and glasses. The optometrist and the staff are the best.
The selection of eye wear is the best. Everyone is courteous and very professional. Thank you Sandy for the great service I received.

The eye doctor was great! He took his time explaining everything to me. The staff were super friendly! They were very helpful with showing me frames they thought would look best on me. So glad I went to Sterling Optical.

6: 30 PM on a Saturday and the store is locked and dark!?

Received a phone call explaining that they were short staffed due to employee illness.

After go to this office for the last 25 years, I had the worst experience at my last appointment. I saw the newer doctor that was in there and have since been back four times for my glasses.today I finally saw the original doctor who told me that the new doctor wrote the wrong prescription, the main office lady / tech pushed pair of glasses on me that I didn't really love and was more money than what I wanted to spend (my fault for not being stubborn I suppose) then whoever actually makes the lenses did not install them right, then when I went to pick them back up a second time another tech actually cracked one of the lenses while bending frames and did not tell me. I found out the next morning.

So when I went today I got the correct prescription however when I asked about switching glasses, which they said they had no problem doing when I showed them the broken lens, I picked out a pair that was $60 cheaper then my original pair. At first the main office lady / tech acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. And I said that the other pair of glasses are $60 cheaper and I would like a refund of the difference. She absolutely refused and said that they were already going above and beyond what they have to do.

Considering their doctor screwed up my script, then the lens people screwed up, and then one of their techs broke the lens, I fail to understand how $60 is going to make or break them when now I have to go in for a 5th time when the glasses (that I don't like) come again and hopefully correctly.

I hope the $60 is worth losing a 25 year long customer and both of her kids.

Edit, nothing was resolved, even after contacting the main office. I'll be looking for a new eye doctor for my family

Dr Guerin was awesome. He really took the time to help me out. The staff that helped me pick out glasses and ensure the fit was just right was also fantastic! I’ve recommended them to all my family and looking forward to next year’s check up!

I'm looking for new eyeglasses. After reading Jaime Manning's review and your response, it's unclear to me that actually you took care of his problem apologetically. That is is if his review is accurate. Not sure if I want to have similar situation.

I have been going to this office for over 10 years and have had nothing but great experiences. Dr. Guerin is friendly and professional. The employees are very kind and helpful, especially with selecting frames. Contacts and glasses come in so quick! Great location and hours. I would definitely recommend Sterling Optical – I already have to coworkers/friends and they were very satisfied too!

Dr Richard Guerin and all of the front staff were absolutely wonderful, warm, and very helpful. Highly recommend!
