After a few years of back pain and a few procedures with no results, I looked into acupuncture and found Ann Mertens.
The acupuncture alleviates my pain and now I am able to enjoy life pain free along with going to the gym and dancing.
It's has also helped with menopause symptoms and any discomfort that comes along like body aches, headaches, etc.
I would recommend her to everyone. She has a wonderful bedside manner and is very gentle & kind. She answers all questions and really cares about her patients well-being.

I’ve been getting acupuncture from Stillwater for years because it’s been so helpful for a lot of issues: migraines, sinus headaches, allergies, digestive issues, and joint and muscle pain. Ann is a careful listener who really knows what she’s doing.
My migraines had been debilitating; I’d start getting the aura vision, and then I could count on a full day of serious pain and nausea, ruining weekend plans or a day of work. Over time, with treatments from Ann, they have not only diminished in frequency (they used to be every few weeks, now I just get two or three a year), but they are also far less severe so that I just need an hour or so of rest before I can function. When I’ve been able to get acupuncture with Ann during the actual headache, she’s usually able to get rid of the headache completely.
I have had similar results with the other issues I listed.

I have been visiting Ann Mertin for Accupuncture for several years. After my IBS was aggravated by C Diff awhile back I decided to try Accupuncture. I started to feel better after a few sessions. The bloating and other symptoms of IBS became better. Also, she was able to help a painful shoulder with treatment. I found my sessions with Ann painless, and very relaxing, and beneficial.

Ann is an excellent practicing acupuncturist. She approached my concerns with thoughtful questions and listened carefully. Her treatment regimen gave me significant immediate relief-and with a good plan for a longer term solution. Ann's approach is customized, not scripted, and always a pleasant surprise as I learn new things about myself and how my body works. She took the time to understand my issues, and once she had placed the needles, I felt truly relaxed and calm for the first time in ages. I was nervous to try acupuncture, but I’m so glad I did! Ann made me feel comfortable, and I barely felt the needles at all. During the treatment, I felt so relaxed, like I was lying on a cloud, and I almost fell asleep. For the first time in awhile, I felt like I could breathe, and it felt really good. Afterwards, the tension in my shoulders was so much better. I highly recommend Ann and Stillwater Acupuncture.   I chose acupuncture because I have chronic pain and didn’t want to use medication long term.   The ambiance at Stillwater is very calming and relaxing, Ann is a good listener, and she’s very thorough. She makes adjustments at each visit and tries different approaches to fix the problem.   And it works! Acupuncture has been very helpful to me.

I started seeing Ann nine years ago when I moved to the area. In the beginning, my treatments were for general wellness and support. From my very first treatment with her, it was clear that Ann is a skilled and compassionate practitioner and a true professional. When I received a diagnosis of inflammatory breast cancer six years ago, Ann was the first person I called. As an acupuncturist myself, I knew I wanted the support of regular acupuncture treatments as I underwent the necessary chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation treatments for IBC. Over the years, I’ve relied on Ann for help in recovering from assorted illnesses, injuries, and surgeries. She’s excellent at what she does, and I never hesitate to recommend her. I started going to Stillwater Acupuncture in November of 2021. Initially, my main complaint was pain and swelling in my knees. This pain was not constant but there were days when I was not able to walk up a short flight of stairs without crying and it had begun to interfere with my sleep.
In my initial consultation, Ann and I discussed not only my main reason for seeking treatment, but also a myriad of other things I’d been experiencing that I’d just powered through, never even thinking acupuncture could help. We looked at my diet, water intake, and daily supplements, and tailor made a plan to help me heal and maintain health. Initially, I went twice a week, reassessing every few weeks, until we both felt I was in a place where I could go once every three weeks or so for “maintenance”.
Since beginning treatment with Ann, I have not had one day of the crippling knee pain. There are days when I’m sore, but mainly just from over exertion. We’ve also managed to seriously lessen monthly migraines, addressed sleeping issues, helped with sinus problems, and boosted my energy levels, with a very holistic plan that includes acupuncture.
I would most certainly refer friends to Stillwater. My goal was to be able to be my best self, for me and for my very active child. I’m now able to say “yes” to so many activities that would have left me in pain, in the past. I decided to try acupuncture for knee pain due to arthritis. I'm happy to say that it has helped me tremendously. Even in rainy and cold weather, when I would normally have trouble walking, I have no pain whatsoever! I feel like I'm in a spa when I go for treatments!

I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and was on high doses of Tegretol and Cymbalta to treat the nerve pain in one side of my face and head. Through acupuncture with Ann I was able to gradually reduce and finally stop my medication altogether. I still see Ann on occasion when I have a flare up. I am so grateful!

Ann is wonderful! I decided to try acupuncture after doctors and physical therapists couldn’t help me with chronic back pain. After a few sessions my pain was reduced significantly, and Ann also has worked on issues I’d never even thought of coming in for (such as migraines,) just because I mentioned them on intake. The needles do NOT hurt, and laying on a heated table while they do their job is the most relaxing part of my week. Highly recommend, for anyone with chronic pain or other issues, relief isn’t immediate but it will come. A wonderful compliment to Western medicine!

Ann helped me with my IVF fertility journey. She is very knowledgeable regarding the process and assisted me with more than just acupuncture…she assisted with supplements and diet changes as well. I attribute part of my success conceiving and sustaining a healthy pregnancy to Ann and her expertise.
