Stone Grille & Taphouse, York PA

Update#2: I was in the mood for a steak dinner and my wife wanted something seafood, so we apprehensively returned here. This place has now gone from a hero to a zero in our book. Once again, without even asking us for our seating preference, we were taken directly to the outside patio area even though there were plenty of open tables inside. My NY strip steak was overcooked, tough, dry and tasteless. And my wife's crab cake smelled disgustingly fishy, a clear sign that the crab meat may have been old. This was just not an enjoyable dining experience. Our server was very personable and professional, but not enough to overcome the seating SNAFU and making us dine outside on the patio where it was uncomfortably hot.
Update#1 This place is now on probation with my wife and me. Since moving to York in January, we've eaten here at least 10 more times, and we always tip 50% of the bill because service workers are still hurting from Covid restrictions. Two days ago we stopped in for lunch. Plenty of empty tables in the restaurant area, but the server immediately ushered us outside to the patio area adjacent to two large & noisy groups having an enjoyable time. My wife & I couldn't even speak to each other due to the loud noise level. So we did something we have never done before.we got up and walked out.

The wait staff here at Stone Grille is second to none. These folks are awesome! Whenever my wife & I have come in for lunch or dinner, we were attended to very quickly and efficiently. Yes, there have been times we needed to wait for a table, but that's due to our preference to not eat at the bar or outdoors. With the Covid epidemic in full swing, it's refreshing to actually sit inside a nice restaurant and be attended to by the very professional wait staff. Every time that we've vacationed in York we made sure to eat here as often as possible because the quality of everything we've tried has been AAA+. We always stay at the nearby Home2 Suites, so this restaurant was only a 2 minute drive away from our hotel. We've recently purchased a house in York that our daughter has moved into, and she has also become a huge fan of this place. If your looking for a restaurant that uses quality ingredients to prepare their food, instead of all those local diners that just reheat frozen food from BJ's or Sam's Club, take yourself to the Stone Grille and actually enjoy the taste of your food. Highly recommended.

The food was delicious and the portions are a nice size. Our server was very nice and accommodating.

Good food and atomsphere. Service was very slow at times but that didnt mattsr to me. Large variety of beer options.

I could not get service at bar I watched her just look at me and never offer, then I watched as she served new people coming in so I moved to a table eventually I got served 15 minutes later.

I got my draft not very cold yet its freezing inside the restaurant.

I ordered a well done pizza but it was not well done

Place needs lot more TV's

Employees need to be more friendly.

The Empresa gin was clearly replaced with clear gin. Anyone drinking Empress knows it is Indigo…. The bartender, who was amazing, let me smell the gin and it was no where close to Empress. Disappointed for sure.

Server was very attentive & knowledgeable. Good portions of food are cooked divinely for ultimate flavor.

This was our third visit. It is now one of our favorite restaurants in the York area. Food is consistently good.

Didn't even enjoy anything left because no service for over 30 mins I'm cool shame lost a customer

Alexis was our server and she was wonderful! Consistently brought refills without being asked. Brought extra sauces and helped us decide on a dessert. Wonderful experience!

Typically I like the food here and don't have issues but this time we had a few snags. I ordered cream of crab soup. It was entirely way too thick. If I would've taken a spoonful and flung it on the ceiling, I bet it would've stayed there for a bit. The taste was ok but there wasn't any lump meat in it either. Also, I had two other people who ordered soup. One ordered the Maryland Crab and the other ordered the Maryland and Cream mixed. Both of their soups came out cool, not hot, whatsoever. Not sure when or if we will go back but maybe someday.

I want to start off by saying the absolute only reason this place got a second star from me is because I could definitely see that the atmosphere and beer selection being the high point on a Friday or Saturday night with friends. The kids working there were more worried about talking with coworkers instead of serving. The food was the worst I’ve ever had eating at a restaurant, and pricing did not match quality even in the slightest bit. Do yourself a favor, if you’re going for drinks, probably not a bad choice. If you’re going for food, avoid it even if it were the last restaurant around. Very bland, flavorless food, with well below average service. I’ve had better meals at fast food restaurants.

The food was delicious a little pricey and the service was great but the atmosphere was really nice, we sat outside but it was all covered over all in all. I definitely will be coming back.

Arrived for an early lunch on a Tuesday. Seated immediately, great service, very nice staff, clean, reasonable prices, and our food was delicious. Hubby ordered the Taphouse Burger that was prepared exactly as requested and I totally enjoyed the Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich. It was nice to choose between chips, fries or onion rings without an up charge. Only regret is we didn’t have room for dessert! We will definitely be back again.

This place was pretty good overall. The food was top notch. The chowder mix was fantastic, the tacos were great, and even the buffalo chicken wrap was good. Fries were crispy and delicious.
Drinks were a bit steep, and took forever to arrive at the table. Like 8 minutes per round, and our small family was one of maybe 4 sets of diners in the place. That’s really the only gripe.

Came for lunch got a BLT it was dry and inedible the waitress was gone the entire time and seemed to be the only waitress in the entire restaurant.when we got the check I was overcharged for for my terrible meal when I told the waitress she said oh sorry and then brought me back the same check and disappeared again. I waited several minutes to try and get this actually corrected but she never came back. I even looked around the restaurant but she was magically nowhere to be found. There are any number of decent restaurants with beer on tap do yourself a favor and skip this one.

We come here often & always love it! Great food & we love the little patio/porch area.
