Stony Fork Creek Campground, Wellsboro PA

I have camped every visit. I'm up there for the trout fishing. Learn the area, and there are some excellent streams relatively close.

Beautiful campground. The skies at night were magnificent. Loved the fall colors. We will be back!

It was cold and windy, however, I enjoyed the crisp/fresh mountain air and the cabin sleeping arrangements were adequate!

Another great annual camping trip is in the books! We had a great time tent camping by the creek. The wifi was esssentially non-existent (we had no trouble with it last year), but we just learned that the campground team has completed an upgrade to the wifi (yay!). As always, the showers were a welcome commodity, and the top-of-the-hill restroom is great for times when you need a sink or a flush. We love exploring the area more and more each year. Nearby, there are great hikes, a swimming hole, and plenty of shopping (antiques, thrifting.) wine, etc.

First off.a very very Beautiful area. We typically camp in NC, Georgia, Florida & Ohio. We had heard about Grand Canyon, Pa & thought we would try a different area. We drove about 8hrs & people are just not friendly. I always try to look overlook when someone is rude (you never know what kind of day they are having) but having said that.my goodness that owner was a hard egg to crack. Not welcoming at all, rude & don't even think of smiling. I really didn't want to leave a review with negativety but after reading several other reviews im thankful to see that we weren't the only new guests that were treated so poorly. My husband also tried to joke to lighten her mood but no way she just scowled at him not finding any humor. If your not a people person this isn't the business for you. Never been to a grounds that charge you 50. If someone left a can or something in the burn pit (we don't but wow 50.00). If you move the ring for being to close to your camper.again 50.00 (we didn't but again some sites are smaller & I could see not wanting to burn your camper). We will all just continue to travel South where everyone offers a smile & consideration. Very unfortunate personality for such beautiful scenery.

While the campground was nice the owners are not. Constantly would yell at people if their dog barked (even though when their dog was out he would do the same thing). The female owner has a constant rbf and is so rude. Doesn’t even acknowledge you when you walk into the store or ask how things are going. The owners don’t even acknowledge when they are walking/driving by. Most of the campgrounds I have e ever been to will at least wave if not stop and make sure everything is ok. Bath houses are disgusting as well as the pool could use some serious updating. Only 1 dumpster which is by the office but the dump station is at the other end of the campground. The dump station is right in the front yard of a permanent site and on the opposite side. You have to pull around and will be facing the wrong way to go out so you have come back around to exit. While the kids somewhat enjoyed the campground the owners made it so our entire group would never go back.

Edit: If you read their reply they sound pretty rude even in their reply. I have never left a bad review on any campground. I always give grace but when very single person that stayed there had a negative encounter with the owner I would say it’s the owner that’s the issue. I have been to plenty of campgrounds that have not had “ideal” situation for different things within the campground but at least the owner is concerned about the stay and wanting people to come back. If a business owner cared about people wanting to come back they wouldn’t have replied in such a rude way either.

First time at this place and I'll definitely be back. Had a site across the creek with water and electric supply. Didn't know my camp side was supposed to face the creek, but I didn't care, we still had fun. The whole place was really clean and well maintained. The shower facilities and toilets were very clean, and within a short walk from my lot. Woke up on Sunday morning and the lids on my coolers were open, the only casualty was a carton of creamer. Talked with the neighbors and they confirmed a young bear was wondering around.

I cant believe anyone would leave a bad review. Owners are great! Broken sewer pipe upon arrival and fixed within 15 minutes! A beautiful clean and quiet spot. Safe for free ranging kids. Kids love this place. Easy access to Pa Grand canyon. Nice pool and pond fishing. Cool nights and Shady sites if you plan it. We come here every year mostly because the bunch of kids we have keep hounding us to go back. Get off the grid folks! You will enjoy this campground!

Beautiful clean well maintained campground. Suitable for big rigs and tenters. Spaces were more than adequate for both. Super quiet and scenic but had some activities for kids. Wifi very sketchy so be prepared for that. We camped in a 41ft fifth wheel and would definitely stay again.

Had fun here with the family! Nice bathrooms and clean! Fun creek area and nice campground

Camped as a multi site family group. Enjoyed the music and relaxed atmosphere. Swam in the clean pool wished for more breezes.

Very clean campground and the people are down to earth. We had a wonderful time at the Blue Grass Festival.

We stayed at Stony Creek for our trip up to the PA Grand Canyon. Park was very clean and well kept. Owners were very polite and helpful and always were seen cleaning up the area. The lots were spacious and the ambiance was absolutely beautiful nestled in between two mountains with a fishing pond in the center. Will definitely return!

The nicest campground that I have ever stayed at. Maintained very well. Very relaxing time.

We stayed in cabin. Great amenities and activities. Very clean. It was our home base while visiting with family nearby. We loved it. Don't know how we will decide between here and the sister campground, Canyon Country.

I went here as a kid in the 90’s with family and loved it. Now with my own family it’s nice to go back and remember and share the place I have fond memories from. It seems during busy times and in some areas of the campground it’s VERY tight fitting and snug (for travel trailers and fifth wheels) so be cautious of that and the site you pick when booking. Other than that the place is fun and the staff is friendly. We try to make it out here every few years just for the sake of nostalgia. It is close to Wellsboro and the PA Grand Canyon.
