I came here with 2 days to spare from my wedding… I live across the country and my dress was too big for me the week before my wedding. The tailor I had been going to had fixed the bodice but claimed there was nothing further that could be done to fix the straps of my low back bridal dress from falling down. Peter was reassuring and was able to take the spare fabric from the dress to make a beautiful strap across the back of the dress to ensure the straps from falling down. Peter and his wife were able to complete this in less than a day and completely saved me from a wedding dress disaster, thank you so much!

My mom and I have been going to Sue’s Custom Dressmaking & Tailor Shop for several years and we are thrilled to support a local business in Chestnut Hill. I had all of my prom dresses and two bridesmaids dresses altered by them and the fit was absolutely PERFECT. The tailor is extremely skilled in fitting, finishing, repairing, measuring and pattern making. The owners are kind and welcoming, and their space is charming! I highly recommend their services!

This is a great tailor shop. Peter is always the best and gives the best service. I came here 5 times over the past 5 years and he always tailored my suits the best when the other tailors couldn’t.

I was getting my dress altered for my gf’s wedding and this shop was recommended to me by another friend. He was friendly and cheerful, always smiling and made me feel like he knew what he was doing. I believe my dress was ready in 2 weeks and when I picked it up and tried on my dress omg. Everything I asked he did it! My dress fit perfect and I would definitely recommend him and use him again.

Peter and Sue are stuck with me now. This was my first experience going to a tailor and it was to get my wedding dress altered. I ordered the wrong size dress and the bottom fit perfectly but apparently my back was too big to button the dress to the top. I didn’t think this was fixable. Not only did Peter find a way to neatly close the back of my dress, all of the other alternations he did to the dress reminded me of why I chose the dress to begin with. He did an amazing job and now I want to go through my closet to see what else he can alter.

Sue’s tailor is an incredible tailor. Not only are the husband and wife operating a small family business, but the craftsmanship in the designs are amazing. I have sent multiple bridesmaid dresses there and in less than a month got them back in perfect condition with little to no trace of an alteration. They tailored it to my correct bust and length and they even dry cleaned it afterwards! I am highly impressed with everything they do and have recommended friends and family to go there as well. One tip is to call before you go. You’ll be asked to try on the garment, then they’ll place the pins on your clothing to hem it to your size asking your approval, and then you’ll get a ticket and receipt once you pay telling you when to come back to pick it up. They always have calm music playing, greet me with smiles, and the place is clean and tidy. I mainly go for dress alterations, but in the past I’ve also gotten blazers, jumpsuits, jeans, and pants altered there are well. Won’t go anywhere else for my tailoring and I highly recommend the spot to anyone in Philadelphia.

This place is the absolute best at what they do. Peter and his staff are amazing and are experts at their craft - i recommend them to everyone I know!
At first I was recommended by my sister who lives in the area when I was in a pinch for a floor length satin dress fix for an event.

The dress was an expensive boutique brand, floor length satin with lace stitching on the sides and i was truly floating in it. Peter was so kind and so patient with me as I explained how badly I needed it to fit perfectly and only had two days to get it done. He pinned it carefully and accommodated my rushed job and charged me a very fair affordable price for it. And on top of it even steamed and pressed it so it was ready to wear at pickup!

I have since continued to come to this place for over a year now. The service is amazing, Peter is aways so accommodating, patient and kind. I work in fashion so the fit of my clothes is very important to me. I confidently can say this place will not let you down. Regardless of how intricate or simple of a job it is Peter will take great care of you! I bring skirts, dresses, and even denim here to get tailored and they all have been fitted and tailored to perfection. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough, you have found a gem!

The best tailor in the UNIVERSE! I first started going to Sue’s in 2014 when I lived nearby. As a petite woman, they have tailored many dresses, tops, and skirts for me over the years. I moved to South Jersey a few years ago and have tried five other tailors since then. I finally gave up - none will ever even begin to come close to the magic that they do at Sue’s! I drive to them from South Jersey, they are that good. They even fixed my wedding dress for me when another tailor wasn’t doing a good job. I love that I can walk in with a piece of clothing, put it on, and I don’t even need to say anything, Peter knows exactly what to do to make it fit me perfectly! They are also very kind and I appreciate them and their talent so much!

I used Sue’s for a last minute alteration in the height of wedding and prom season and they did not disappoint! My dress was hemmed and altered perfectly. I highly recommend them!

Had alterations done at Sue's Custom Dressmaking and Tailor Shop for my daughter's junior prom strapless dress; it now fits perfectly! The top has an intricate overlay which had to be altered! Also, significant adjustment was made to the flowy overlaying bottom of the dress. They did a phenomenal job! The price was reasonable. We had an exceptional experience and we are pleased with the results. Great fit, timely, and professional work!

Sue’s Custom Dressmaker made my wedding day full of happiness. I had only four months to put my wedding plan together and it wasn’t enough time to have dress shop and altered for most of people. My dress was long and big on me and I was so stressed out finding someone can alter it for me in tight schedule. My dress had so many layers and I was worried but He did amazing job making it perfect fit and length for me. He even put bustles beautifully on and made it easy for me to adjust for me. I had to bring my dress to Korea and he gave good tips to how to bring it too.

I came to Peter's for a wedding dress alteration. My wedding is in October so I wanted to have the dress ready and completed before then. He was quick and he is great at what he does.my fiance also had his and his groomsman suit altered with Peter as well. I have come to him for multiple alterations not just for the wedding dress and it is always on point. He never disappoints and I'm excited to feel like a princess on my wedding day! The first fitting I had with Peter I was a little late to the appointment but he was accommodating with my schedule and I couldn't have been more thankful.
My bridesmaids dresses were also altered by Peter and my maid of honor recently lost weight so there was a lot of taking in to do. I went with my maid of honor to make sure the dress was fitted well and when she had her last fitting for the dress, it was stunning!

He finish everything in a timely manner has a great customer service. I have been going to him for at least fours he did a perfect job on my wedding dress and 2018.
