Nice therapist but the intake process was complicated and delayed like nothing I’ve been through before. If I were in need of urgent mental health care, the four month intake process would have been a serious deterrent. Felt like once I became an established patient this place was only focused on making money. They insisted on frequent med check appointments that were unnecessary and hit me with huge no show fees for appointments I don’t recall scheduling. Not willing to waive the no show fees although I believe they were applied in error. The front desk/ office team seems really unhappy and therefore not always the most friendly or accommodating. Very impersonal. I was kind of treated like a number. For me, the red tape and stress caused by going here made me feel worse instead of better. I began to dread the appointments. This is not the way mental health services should be provided in my opinion. I’d go somewhere else unless you have no other choice.

This is specifically for Dr. Lynette Turay. I've been seeing her for more than 5 years. She knows her stuff. She's a psychiatrist, so medication only. But she saw me through several meds until we found the right one. She also helped my other doctors diagnose problems that they couldn't figure out. She is awesome to talk to, she is so thorough in her care for her patient, and she is super-knowledgeable about medications. She gets 5 stars all day, every day.

I’ve seen Sandra Brill and Leslie Sullivan and they are both amazing. Sandra worked with me to find a medication that treats my symptoms and she really takes the time to get to know you and help you. Leslie is my therapist and I love her. She has been so helpful and her insights are really helping me improve my situation.
The front desk staff is also very nice and the whole process was simple for me.

The $70 no-show fee is outrageous. Daughter gets herself here in the school year and has forgotten a couple of times (teen). Then getting a response to queries between appointments is a little difficult: sometimes no call back and need to call again. Email communication from the nurse lacks nuance and can be misconstrued as patronising/rude (or maybe it is? !). Front desk staff are perfectly nice and at times go above and beyond.

Been a patient for over 10 years. The front desk staff is great! Check in and out runs smoothly.
No problems with appointment scheduling. My Dr is accessible when needed.
My care is top notch. I drive over an hour each way and would not want to go anywhere else.
No sure why all the negative comments

Sandra Brill is my hero.
I've seen others at this location but no one really clicked for me like Sandra has. Two hours went by with her for my first appointment and it was the first step towards a major breakthrough. She's helped gather missing info I've been seeking as well as having patience as I first struggled to accept and be somewhat open with her diagnosis and treatment. She's been more than willing to explain, break down, and explain again about the ins and outs of everything. This work is not fun, I mostly walk in upset, mentally drained, or disappointed that I'm not, "better" but with each appointment, I'm more ahead than I was the last time. If you're serious, just give it a try; with Sandra or any therapist. I highly recommend!

Intake is an iron curtain. Emails and calls are never returned. You either get these people at a good time or they're inaccessible. Sorry, Beth Resko, won't be seeing you because of Sunpointe Health's atrocious office team.

Terrible experience with Sandra Brill. Talks more about her own problems than the patients. Her advice was unhelpful and left the appointment requesting to see someone else.

I would give this place a zero star if I could. Sandra Brill is the worst psychologist, and lies as well as falsifies records! Absolutely a disgrace she shouldn't be allowed to practice. She will change your medication every time you walk in her office, and doesn't gave time for you. She's the absolute worst. Please stay away from this place at all cost.

I've been utilizing Sunpointe's services since 2013 (both therapy and psychiatry), and I've enjoyed my experience and recommend Sunpointe to anyone struggling with mental illness, or for anyone that needs therapy.

Dr. Lynette Turay is an excellent doctor, and I highly recommend her for medication management. She is very attentive and works with you to find the best solution. Dr. Richard Plut is also a wonderful therapist.

I love this place so much and even drive 40 minutes to come here. I am currently doing the TMS treatments at this facility and cannot rave about them enough. All of the staff I have encountered has been so kind and caring and has made this process so much easier for me. Here, I feel like a person, not just another number/patient. The building itself is so clean and professional, warm and inviting. Numerous areas to sit and calming music/white noise machines for the utmost privacy. I love this place so much that I am switching my psychiatrist and psychologist care to this facility. I was feeling frustrated and like I was no longer making progress in my recovery with my current doctors at home, but SunPointe has renewed hope for me and I cannot be more grateful.

I was very happy until I had to start waiting every month for my doctor to get his act together and send in my prescription. Over all on average it has been at least 2 weeks late every month. This is not acceptable for someone who has to use their lunch brake to get their medication this is not acceptable. Do your damn job like I do on a daily basis and stop ruining my only time to eat. Get it together.

I did not like the counseling service provided, and would not recommend going here for that service. Although I do want to add that the psychiatrist I saw was extremely professional, kind, and well trained. I just did not like the counseling services and the way that section of the facility is structured. It may work for some people, but it definitely did not work for me.

Intake took a bit but my child's Doctor has been supportive, thorough, and isn't a "pill pusher" either.

Took me literally months to get in the door.
At least the building is clean and pretty.
My psychiatrist was horrible but my therapist was brilliant.

Can't even get an appointment because you can't talk to a real person. You are forced to leave a voicemail and wait for them to call you back and end up playing phone tag.

They kind of rip you off and they do everything in their power to get as much money as possible from you. Staff is incompetent and the doctors sometimes dont help. The only thing I learned from coming here is that nobody can help you but yourself.

My son, a Penn State student who suffers from significant anxiety, finally sought counseling in State College from SunPointe Health. He has counselors elsewhere, but due to the divorce of his mother and I, and the fact that we have both moved away from the area of my son's childhood home, it is not easy to arrange for my son to see them. He missed two appointments with SunPointe due to sleeping through his alarm. He's 20 and both times his phone had died, run out of power, overnight. He called back to reschedule. The practice refused to see him, or even to let him explain his absences. In a voice-mail to him, an administrative person said that if the reason my son called back "is to reschedule, Dr. Craig Walters will not allow us to schedule with him again due to your poor attendance record, and because of that you know we won't schedule with anybody else either, when somebody no shows or cancels several appointments we don't want to pass that problem onto any of our other providers either. " This was during the end of the semester, as my son, an engineering student, was dealing with exams and other sources of significant stress. The doctor had previously seen him, and therefore had to be aware of the degree and significance of my son's anxiety, yet he turned him away. To add insult to injury, and to strongly suggest that this practice cares far more for its bottom line than for the welfare of its patients in my opinion, I just received a $140 bill for "no show" fees.

I strongly suggest that those looking for mental health counseling in the State College area avoid this practice and find another counselor.

The reception staff is phenomenal. They learned our name quickly to accommodate my son running past the desk. The doctors treat us with respect and listen to our concerns and suggestions.

NOTE TO ANY PSYCHIATRISTS OUT THERE: Move to State College where there is a dearth of alternatives to this practice. This mid-sized town and its people need you - there are literally NO OTHER options for people who require psychiatric care. And believe us, we wish there were.

Staff who answer the phones have an absolute attitude like they were running the Gucci store in Beverly Hills, doling out appointments and kindnesses ilke they were gold not easily dispensed. We waited 5 months for an appointment for our student, who suffers from severe anxiety. His normal doctor at home suggested he get local support near Penn State.he went 5 super stressful months without local support or care, having to go 4 hours home for appointments and prescription renewals - adding to his overall stress and anxiety.

He finally got a few appointments.but then he was 10 minutes late to an appointment (all tied to extreme anxiety, made worse by being late) only to be told he missed his window and there was no opportunity to see the doctor. While he stood there at the desk shaking and having an emotional meltdown, he could see his doctor, who went about his business with no regard for this kid in distress. My child literally had to go to an emergency room. They didn't care at all - not at the desk nor in the exam rooms. Not a shred of kindness given to a kid in need, regardless of rules and regulations. This seems to be a theme in the other reviews.

Twice we've needed them to release information for prescriptions and to the other doctor - they would only accept the release by fax, not scanned document. Not sure who still has a fax machine in 2017, but I don't know anyone who operates in a 1997 manner like this. The super haughty receptionist could not have been more condescending or rude, as if we were dirt on the bottom of her orthopedic shoe. Though this is the only option in town, it is a very very poor one in service and care.one step above nothing at all.
