Sur La Table reviews
8Would not recommend. Over crowded. Expensive. Not enough food. Learned nothing new. Waste of money.
They keep canceling every class I sign up to. So disappointed with them! Always with such short notice too.
I have not been to the classes but they cancelled a day before the class and I had this planned for my fiancés birthday surprise which was so disappointing because I had to tell him the whole thing got cancelled. I wish they had informed me atleast 3-4 days prior so that I could plan something. Thanks for the uncalled surprise Sur la Table. Now I would have to think twice before booking a class because you randomly cancel them.
I visited this place for a cooking class “Croissants from Scratch”.
It was a different and a wonderful experience and so much fun. I went solo for this but then was added into a group. It was a 3 hour course and our instructor was really good. She shared lots of tips and tricks.
The store is really good. There are variety of options for kitchen ware stuff. If you take the cooking class you’ll get a 10% discount coupon as well. They have lot of different ongoing discounts.
Purchased a pumpkin spice quick bread mix, waste of money. Terrible, never cooked in the middle after an additional 20 minutes. Threw the whole mess out.
Class was a good experience- the chef and supporting kitchen staff were plesant and knowledgable. We really enjoyed the Tuscan date night menu with steak, gnocchi and mint chocolate chip gelato.
It's a little awkward to have to work in groups and it takes away from the learning but I understand that the price of ingredients could get costly for large groups. My big gripe was that we didn't get to eat the food that we worked to prepare? ! All of the food was combined and cooked together so the perfectly seared steak and yummy sauce that I made ended up on someone else's plate! What is the point of seasoning your own sauce if you don't get to eat your own creation? It's not a long class so they are clearly tight on time but they should really find a way to mark the food and serve each group their own dish.that would make a world of difference. It was sooo disappointing that we didn't get to try what we made!
Other improvements I would suggest for the cooking classes: 1. For this store, the confirmation email should tell you that the store is INSIDE the KOP Mall. We were barely on time and three other groups were late saying they could not find it. 2. They should more clearly advertise that class is BYOB! This class was gifted to us and no where on the confirmation I had did I know we could bring wine to have with dinner. No reminder email about the class coming up either! 3. Send out the receipes! Since class is so short we didn't get to learn every step of every receipe.they need to do a better job at getting the receipes out to the attendees after the class, or better yet, having them available to take home.
For our anniversary my girlfriend booked us a cooking class at Sur La Table. What a great date night or in our case an anniversary evening out. We were instructed by Chef Noel. He was informative and able to guide us through the recipes for the class. We made Thai pumpkin curry soup, Perfect Pad Thai, Spicy Beef Salad with cucumber and Mint and Forbidden coconut mamgo rice pudding. Because rice pudding takes a long time we didn't get to make that but we got to have it with our meal at the end. All in All it was a real fun time. We got a break in between and they gave a 10% discount for us to use if we wanted to purchase anything in the store. They have all the cool gadgets. At the end we plated all the food and got to enjoy the meals we made. Chef Noel was great. He has a good sense of humor and enjoyed playing with us. I would absolutely go again. Working in the food industry I would encourage anyone taking a class like this to Tip your Chef. He's helping us make a meal and teaching us skills. Take care of them as you would your server.
