Templin Woods Preserve reviews
6This is a well-marked loop trail with gentle to moderate ups and downs. Hiking boots are recommended to safely navigate those stretches with loose rocks underfoot, particularly in autumn when the trail is hidden by leaves. The dominant trees are oak, maple, tulip tree, and beech with an occasional shagbark hickory. Christmas ferns are quite plentiful! I was surprised to find a small stand of invasive empress trees (Paulownia tomentosa) growing near the trail's highest point and hope that steps can be taken to eradicate them before they spread too much farther.
Cool trail. Starts with a 250 ft rise in the first 3/4 mile. Then work your way down gradually. Only problem is alot of mud and water last mile or so. If you are running, u will get wet
Great 3 mile hike on the loop trail. Relatively easy, but does have a good little up hill and down hill sections. Lots of tracks of animals in the snow, but we only saw a few small ones here and there. A little marshry in places, so either wait till dry periods of time or wear really good boots.
Really nice trail through a forested area. Hiked after a snow and saw lots of animal tracks, deer, turkey, fox, rabbit, raccoon, etc. Also saw lots of birds, including a juvenile bald eagle.
Wide and gentle loop through quiet woodlands. A few very large tulip poplars were a nice surprise. Heavy deer population so be wary of the ticks if you wander off trail.
This preserve has over 500 acres of forest. The trail is a loop that is about 8 feet wide and is well maintained. However there are a few spots that could use improved drainage. This well marked trail has or 400 feet of elevation change over its three miles.
Parking is limited. There is a porta-potty. I had this place to myself on a fall Saturday afternoon.
