The Bayou reviews
18Went for brunch. Steven was our server and was great! The breakfast mac and cheese was delicious. The nightmare on bourbon Street drink was great!
The place is absolutely awesome
I got pierogies and the drink medicament absolutely so good
I went on the day of the garlic festival.
I would definitely go back. The food was really good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming.
Nice decor and ambiance. Hush puppies were unimpressive, hard & looked over cooked (judge for yourself). Buttermilk chicken was spicey but could not taste any salt.
Delicious hush puppies, cilantro dipping sauce is scrumptious! I had the cuban sandwich, very good. I enjoyed a slice of my husband's catfish po' boy. Decor New Orleans feel. Perfect meal! Price was a deal!
I had the ribs, they were falling off the bone, the sauce was smokey barbecue w some heat to it. Tasty and not overwhelmed with the spice
First time, loved it. Atmosphere is a 5 but not with the live music, too loud can't even talk to my wife without saying huh, what, over and over.
Chicken and waffles flight of 4 was very tasty, as were the blue crab beignets.
Definitely need to return multiple times to order more items from the menu.
What a treat! Passing by decided to stop by this place and was blown away by food quality and friendly service! Would again!
If I could give 10 stars, I would. This place is fantastic. Everything we ordered between our party of 5,3 shareable appetizers, and 5 entrees, was absolutely amazingly delicious. I cannot say enough about the food, the service was great, and the environment was very cool. You must go here!
We’ve been to New Orleans twice and this is exactly like the food there. The shrimp was unbelievably fresh. The remoulade on the burger was fantastic. Live music. Great drinks. Food that’s too good for this area and service to match. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing. Amazing at every turn.
The food was delicious with huge portions, even for the appetizers. They are definitely shareable. We will be coming back because we have to try the desserts.
Great food, but a bit pricey, maybe up the attention to service to justify the higher prices?
My wife and I ate here Friday night before seeing a show at Wind Creek.
Hands down one of the worst meals my wife and I ever had. She got the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were a greasy mess. They tasted like the grease they were saturated in, For dinner she got the brisket po boy which was completely gross and practically inedible. The brisket looked like old gray fatty roast beef and was tough, chewy, and tasted awful. She barely ate any of it. I had the shrimp po boy which was also terrible. A few tiny grease soaked shrimp made up the protein of that sandwich. It too tasted awful and like the grease the shrimp were soaked in. The fries on both plates were dry, Luke warm and tasted like grease. Don’t waste your time your money. Go elsewhere.
We won’t ever be going back!
My recent experience here was so bad it prompted me to change my review. The only thing that was timely during this visit was being seated because we had reservations. We waited ages for service, drinks, food, and the check. When our food arrived at the table all three of our meals were burnt. I never ever return food, but I couldn't eat it. I tried. Our waitress was polite, and subbed our meals for salads. We live an hour away, so sadly after this experience I will not make any trips out of my way to visit here again.
My first time dining in were great. Always' order the same meal. Southern chicken platter. But when it comes to take out. Woof woof. Corn bread my favorite was cold as if it had been sitting out all day. I even phoned and told them so. I don't believe a stray would have enjoyed 25.00 meal. Even tip the server. I didn't understand why the best restaurant in town treated me like this. I never order take out again.
Great food and atmosphere. Authentic Cajun style cuisine. Offers sidewalk, indoor and back patio dining suitable nearly year-round. Would recommend the salmon, catfish and ribs based upon meals there. Desserts can be large so prepare to share! There is a bar area for drinks and food with television.
I lived in Baton Rouge for 16 years and this is the closest I have found to the same flavors. Most dishes have a modern twist to them, but the flavors remind me of southern cooking.
2023: I still like the flavor, especially the Chicken and andouille sausage.
You may think it's expensive but every bite is worth it. The chicken platter is $25 with sides but they give you plenty. I suggest the one in Bethlehem-great atmosphere and service. My recommendations are the Fried Chicken platter with mashed Sweet Potatoes with brown sugar and honey, fresh, home made corn bread slathed with fresh butter, DEFINITELY the Brisket Mac &cheese and collard greens. Enjoy authentic Sweet Tea!
