The Capital Grille reviews
16I've been to about eight of its fifty or so locations, and this outpost of the Capital Grille is much like the others. The service is very good, the atmosphere is traditional clubby steakhouse (this building was looking a little tired), the clientele is upscale and middle aged. I've found that the food in the urban locations is better than that of the suburban locations like this one. The seafood tower was a little sparse and looked a little dry, like it had been sitting out a little too long. My NY strip, an average piece at best, was cooked beyond the medium rare advertised; it's possible that my expectations lean to rare, but normally I would expect a steakhouse to err on the rare side; this one erred on the well side. On a more positive note, the green vegetables and tomatoes looked and tasted very fresh. I'm probably being a little fussy here - overall the food was good and I would eat there again - but I believe the results are what one would expect from a Darden chain, and there are plenty of superior options in the region.
I recently dined at the Capital Grille in KoP for the first time. I have dined at several fine dining establishments in the past and have always been impressed by the quality of the food, superb atmosphere, and overall attention to to detail. Unfortunately, my recent visit on 11/19/2021 to the Capital Grille was more like a 3-4 star experience. Definitely not 5 star worthy.
1. Upon arrival at our table, the waiter did not appear for 5-10 minutes.
2. Bread service was not automatically replenished and the accompanied butter was never replenished. I had to request more bread. The initial butter placement and size was insufficient for our party of 4.3. Water glasses were never replenished until I requested more water. Many glasses were completely empty for 10-15 minutes.
4. Coffee service was never replenished after the initial cup or even offered.
5. I had to request dessert menus for the group.
6. It seemed the waiter was overburden with too many tables and not enough assistance in servicing tables and guests.
While the food and atmosphere were very good and "on par" with other fine dining restaurants, the attention to detail was lacking especially when spending a significant amount of money for dinner.
We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. They provided a table for two sprinkled with confetti and a signed birthday card from the management staff. Our waiter Faroukh, was pleasant, personable and attentive. We ordered shrimp cocktail, lobster and crab cakes for appetizers. We had Lobster bisque soup with hunks of lobster. For the entree we had tje bone in rib eye steaks. They were cooked to perfection. The portion was quite substantial. We asked for to go boxes. One little snafu, our to go boxes went missing! Not to worry though Faroukh requested that our entire dinner be recreated! That was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this restaurant for a great dining experience. Thank you Capital Grillenfor making my husband and I feel special
I’ve been a Vegetarian for three years & Capital Grille is the place where I allowed myself to eat Steak because it is SO ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS & with a glass of KNIGHTS BRIDGE CHARDONNAY & then the CABERNET SAUVIGNON; IT’S OFF THE CHARTS INCREDIBLE. Highly, highly recommend at least once in your life. Fell like ROYALTY!
Excellent, excellent, excellent! Client dinner with about 20 people total. Food, service and atmosphere were exactly as expected!
Everything was perfect. Very friendly staff. Really fun evening and great way to spend a birthday
Steaks were good, oyster and shrimps as well. Service and atmosphere were cheerful and noble.
I visited this place once again when visiting Pennsylvania. The food and service is consistently excellent. The employees are helpful and polite. The management must know what they're doing.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT service by Matt! Good food, not big on the vibe.definitely has a DC Capital feel, not a black face on the walls just men that look like they owned slaves.not a big fan of the fake deer heads hanging from the walls either.has a for old white men feel to it.very very friendly staff just not my cup of tea overall.steak was awesome though!
Always a great place to get some good food. Had the Kona crusted NY strip this time. Absolutely delicious!
An amazing company dinner for 10!
Honestly, the service was just ok. We were packed in back to back with other diners amd had little room. Our plates were possibly cleared too quickly and drinks not quick enough.
The food itself was absolutely amazing, a thought echoed by everyone in our group. Hence the 5 stars. We have been before and will be back. It was good to see so many people out for dinner.
Excellent food. Pricey but worth it. Had Thanksgiving lunch there. Turkey dinner was large plate of delicious traditional items. Service friendly and fast. We had to -go containers for all.
Fantastic service and even better steak! Two if the best steaks I've ever had! Very flavorful, tender and cooked perfectly! Each bite was an experience! Also the truffle fries were delicious! Can't wait to go back!
I have eaten numerous steaks and the fish on several occasions and it is truly scrumptious. You can taste the flavor in each and every bite of anything you eat.
Also the berries and cream it’s a beautiful addition to any meal.
Dont worry about dressing in business casual. Lots of folks in jeans and sneakers.wish I had known that, though I will say most were dressed appropriately. It's very noisy especially if they seat you near the kitchen, so be prepared.
We had made reservations and they knew it was our anniversary, and they put us basically in the kitchen.
When I asked for a more intimate table we ended up in a small room right off the kitchen. Still noisy. Plus there was a birthday party with some delightful rowdy ladies.
Our plans were to have drinks, a leisurely dinner, and make plans for our trip to in the spring, a gift to each other, that was not possible due to the noise.
Worse, my steak felt like it was drowned in salt, by the time they replaced it the table had been cleared and take away bags for the veggies were packed, so no dinner for me. Though they asked if I wanted to take the meat home. I declined.
The waiter was good, the appetizer of cold seafood was good, though the shrimp and lobster were a bit overcooked.
I've been to the one in Boston, many times and the one in Providence RI, and DC. There is no comparison. This was below their standards that I am used to.
I don't think it's worth the money when there are such great restaurants in Philly like Parc. Save your money.
I don't give out 5 stars to anyone, but the staff and my waiter Sal earned it. Wife and I went there for our anniversary and Capitol Grill made it a very memorable night. Many thanks to all the staff for doing what only you do. The wife loved the personalized welcome card and the personalized dessert plate. Fantastic dinner
