Do not visit before 2 pm on a weekday! Avoid the field trip groups at all costs. I was disappointed to see so many chaotic, poorly behaved groups and screaming chaperones with no museum docents in sight. I also saw more broken exhibits than I've ever experienced before in my 35 years of visiting this beautiful museum. I'm sad to see it decline. Perhaps dedicate a day to allow no school groups or at least limit them to match appropriate staffing levels.

Great place to interact with your children or grands while learning/teaching. Best when public schools are NOT there - after 2: 30 (too much noise and chaos when they are) Look into membership - it is worth it!

A Philadelphia must do! It’s a great place to learn in such a fun way as there are so many interactive activities. This was a huge hit and we can’t wait to go back! Parking is $25 in the Franklin Institute parking garage. The food in the cafe isn’t worth the excessive pricing… so don’t expect anything worthwhile. You can pack food- which is what we’ll do next time and eat in the lunch room.

So much fun! I haven’t been here since I was a kid, so it was nice being back. We were there for a good 4 to 5 hours. Apparently the train part was being renovated so that part was closed. Hopefully it’ll be open again when we’re there next.

I love this place! Took my son to the Harry Potter Exhibition last summer and it was super cool!

For what we paid for, it's disappointing that so many exhibits were broken and outdated. It's painfully obvious as things are falling apart, dirty and even making references to things that haven't been relevant for decades.

A lot about the planets in the solar system is shown here, as well as the stars in the planetarium.
The star constellations are shown and explained in the planetarium. This is done in a special way and understandable even for children.
There are still many options for trying out devices. Many of them are based on physical principles. There is an oversized heart that can be walked in and is very exciting for children. There is a pendulum over 4 floors that swings according to the rotation of the earth. It would be nice if such spectacular models were explained by an expert or through a video.
Finally, there is a souvenir shop.
I think the entrance fee for adults is too high; $10-15 would be enough.
Adults are more likely to accompany children here

I’ve been going there since I was a kid and now I take every child in my life there. There is always something new. The best is their live demonstrations. Great for people of all ages!

I would recommend this museum for kids since there were a lot of kids there. For an adult ticket it was $25 which is pretty steep price to have kids swarmed by you.

Always enjoy visiting here. I’ve been to several exhibits here and there always something new and something for everyone. The Harry Potter exhibit was nice and pretty cool.

Visiting here at night on the roof is so beautiful. It is such a beautiful and relaxing experience.

Great place for kids to learn and explore science. Then planetarium experiences great! They have multiple types of shows for that. They also have Liquid and Combustion shows which are very entertaining for the kids. Their new space experience is amazing. They have many interactive displays that keeps the young minds engaged and curious to learn. Their Electricity section is also great where you can wait for the Faraday cage to go on every hour in the hour. Overall a great experience and a must do for late elementary and up kids.

Plan to spend at least a few hours, if not the whole day here, as some exhibits are pretty extensive (the "Your Brain" one took us over an hour to fully get through). There were a lot of kids around, but as a group of three adults we still felt there was plenty of stuff for us to enjoy and learn about. Well worth the admission price for how much is in the museum, with our favorites being the heart, the brain, and the planetarium.

The food in the in-museum cafe ("The Eatery") was also reasonably priced given what they could've charged, and there were veggie options for burgers and chili as well.

Haven’t been in years- and even as a child, it was great. We visited today and can say I was very impressed with the advancements the institute has made, the pleasantry of the staff (I’m highly critical of city employees- but they were all great!) and the cleanliness and staff everywhere. Definitely recommend to anyone interested. Watch out for class trips though.

One of the best museums I've ever been to! My favorite part was the heart maze, it's super interactive and fun for all ages, if you are ever in Philly you should definitely check it out!
