The Hideout reviews
14I really hate having to always stop and get a pass and then drive all over the 50+ mile private housing that has people out reinforcing the 20 mile per hour speed limit. The amenities are cool if you’re moving into the country from the city…but it’s aggravating and not convenient to always have to get passes.
It's a nice place, if you don't mind 100's of rules, loud new yorkers, rent a cops who issue fines but don't seem to do much else. Forget AirBnb- your not going to do that at the end of 2022. The HOA is ridiculous and needs to chill out.
Stayed in this community for a week in a rented cabin near the lake. As others have said, the rules are out of hand. When we arrived, we were presented with 30+ pages of rules, many of which make no sense. I was forced to pay $20 for yearly registration of an inflatable kayak. When I took it on the lake, I was stopped by the Police boat for not having a life jacket. Whether I think I need a life hacket or not should be my choice. Finally, getting into the community was difficult at times. Sometimes, the gate would open immediately while at other times, especially when at the north gate, I would have to wait for several minutes and call security. Maybe think about investing in an automatic gate system? All of the rules made this place a bummer.
Not the greatest place to live in ' lots of different people from ny, NJ, an Connecticut! To much car traffic coming in an out!
The staff at the Northgate are rude. You can tell people no without being mean. The rentals for lake activities is 18. Kids can drive at 16 years old. Crazy that a 16 year old isn't allowed on a paddle board. If you are renting a vacation place I would recommend staying at Lake Wallenpaupack at Silver Birches. You can rent stand up paddle boards and kayaks with your stay and your teenagers can go with you. The pool and amenities are so much better at Lake Wallenpaupack.
This place is a bit odd. They say they are a full season destination and I would have thought that the mountains would be a place to go and have stuff open in the winter but this area is definitely more of a summer lake getaway. Nothing open in the winter. No mini golf no professional golf no lounge/bar (except till 2pm Wed thru Sun). The area restaurants are all closed for the season. How weird. Why is winter and not and the mountains not their season. Even in the snow the small ski mountain is closed. This is a great place to go unwind and relax and Bing watch movies (though our rental didn't have cable) or read some books and cook but thats about it. And the roads aren't well signed and there are no street lights
The family rented a place in the community for a week. Overall, it is very nice with great amenities. However, I have to take a star off for having to drive trash to a dumping area and the fact that large sections of the community has zero cell service.
This is a beautiful comunity nestled through out the woods of the poconos mountains, so much to do in the area, most things are within an hour to an hour n a half away, swimming in the pool or one of the beaches at the lake, miniture golf, regular golf, work out in the gym, take a boat ride or a bike ride or a run, just sit back n do some fishing or enjoy the view from various points through out the property, lake walenpawpack, claws n paws within 15 minutes away, if its food ur looking for 3 minutes up the road is Draft's place, food is very good, the thin style NY pizza is delicious, also suggest the Philly cheesesteak, the service is great n the staff was very friendly.
I love it here. The neighborhood is great. People here are friendly. The amenities are good for anyone.
I'm so happy I don't live in a community with tons of bylaws and rent a cop's.
I’ve had a lot of fun experiences here in this community at my friend’s parents place. The amenities are great and it’s super safe. Plus the area is beautiful. Winter or summer, there’s something to enjoy!
Love this place My Dad owned a home here, clean lake very safe and the security personnel do a great job keeping out the bad element
I can't even come inside here even while i got family living here. Security here is really ridiculous.
Water is horrible with new meters, way overpopulated, too many New Yorkers, and now they are banning trump signs. My fault for thinking it was a good idea to buy a plot in a gated community 30 years ago. House is on the market.
