The Long Barn reviews
7 This is the best place around. Whenever possible, I'll choose to buy supplies from the Long Barn over the big Box-stores every time. Why? Three reasons:
3) Selection/quality. If you're after lumber, there's no question that the boards here will be both straighter & cleaner. Inventory is kept better all around, so you'll find far fewer dings and dents in most of their products. Everything that can be reasonably expected will be found here: from welding rods and brass fittings to doorknobs and tubes of caulking, or perhaps you want to grab a few bags of concrete and a pack of rivets? If you're trying to be constructive today, the Long Barn is the place to stock up.
2) Price. Not every number will be under Home Depot's, but most often it will hit right around that standard on average. Usually it's close enough overall that I keep finding it worthwhile to shop here. On some things it'll even be substantially lower. Not always though; remember, you do have to expect to pay a little bit for any convenience. Some tools and products will still be cheaper online.
1) Help/service. As a local do-it-yourselfer, I find myself in constant need of assistance. I'm what you might call a 'professional homeowner, ' since I try to build or fix everything—obsessively. On top of that, I'm also an online video presenter in the DIY genre, so believe me when I tell you that I frequently have some bizarre problems to solve. For these situations, the Long Barn's staff has been great. The crew behind the counter has helped me to come up with more than one out-of-the box solution, from mechanical to electrical to personalized plumbing support. They don't seem bored when you ask questions. In fact, when I apologized once for asking too many about soldering, I was actually told "That's what I'm here for. " The help doesn't end there, either. The guys out in the yard will bend over backwards to get you what you're after; they will enthusiastically help you thread a custom-length pipe or look through the vinyl siding mounting-blocks to find a weird color.
As long as it stays the way it is, I will keep coming back to the Long Barn. If you live in the area, it's the go-to place for materials. Just wanted to say thanks, guys!
We recently remodeled our kitchen and Laurie couldn’t have been more professional or helpful. She takes great pride in her craft and it showed in my completed kitchen. Thank you Laurie and the Long Barn staff.
Great staff, helpful and willing to take the time to answer questions even though they were very busy the Saturday morning I went there

Good morning Mike, thanks for the help finding stuff and solving problems you and The Long Barn staff were part of the success of our job. Hope it doesn't leak. We skipped returning $100 worth of fittings. Left Altoona at 5: 30 am after working till 7: 30 last night. I wish you well. Maybe see your again sometime.
