This is an absolute must see/stop while you are in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. The man tending the store, Ray, was so much fun to talk to. We spent a lot of time here and found out that Ray does reenactments, and even had an appearance in the 1993 movie Gettysburg! There was so much to see, and we even bought a few small things from him. I could’ve spent a lot more! We also visited the museum next door, which was also spectacular and very enlightening. I’ve learned a lot of interesting things over there. One of the most interesting gadgets was the pill maker, and a curling iron! If you buy a ticket, you get a free scoop of ice cream from the ice cream store on the side. I had the mint chip, and it was delicious. I highly recommend putting this on your itinerary!

The Maryland Sutler is a must! My experience here was absolutely perfect, and I walked away the happy owner of a musket- stayed and chatted for a while, because everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable! I learned a lot, and am perfectly satisfied with my purchase. Plus, any place that has a cat as a shop helper is a winner in my book.:) Can't wait for our next trip to Gettysburg- I'll definitely be visiting the Maryland Sutler again!

Was neat. Met a man that was in the movie Gettysburg. Just under $25 for 2 people, free ice cream and a 2 room museum.

This is the place to get your reenactment clothes, could be a little easier on the prices.

A very quaint store for anything reenactment related, from full uniforms to little trinkets like hard tack and hand-crafted soaps. A great spot for “adult souvenirs”, like quality kepi hats and relic bullets, something you won’t find in most museum gift shops.

Great set of tents, and attentive correspondence w/ customers. There was a curveball with my order, and John did what he could to iron it out quickly.

Every experience that I've had with the Maryland Sutler has been awesome. Last year, I had a hard time finding a pair of pants that properly fit and with just a couple of measurements Jon was able to hook me up and they are absolutely the best fitting pants I've ever owned. The customer service here is incredible and Jon will always keep you up to date on your order. This seller has become my go-to for everything.

Jonh is the best but if you act like a jerk don't bother him.trust me if act like a jerk treated like a jerk.jonh is very willing to do business with everybody and he's very good quality stuff!

Had an incredible experience at The Maryland Sutler, my son and I traveled from Illinois to Gettysburgh and made a visit to TMS. We met John, his father and Mark, all really great guys! They were very helpful not only helping us pick some reenacting gear but also in purchasing an A frame tent. Will absolutely purchase from them again and looking forward to seeing John's newest mercantile project next door!

Nice store. Must see for re enactors. Very good way to educate yourself about the uniforms and clothing of the Era. They have some hand made items such as socks, hats, gloves, quilts. Definitely check it out on your next visit to Gettysburg. I would have given it 5 stars and probably bought one of the hand made items, but the man behind the counter, who was not the owner, was preoccupied with something he was watching on his laptop. So that soured the experience just a bit, but I will stop in again sometime.

John and his Father assisted me in outfitting a newly minted Artilleryman at his first major reenactment. With the general quality of Sutlers lacking at said event, we were pleased to find John's shop well stocked with all necessary accoutrements. Great coats of quality at an affordable price, and trousers of ample girth with quality kersey. Very nice haversacks for the money, and brogans to beat fall creeks limited supply. Some may find John's demeanor a bit too dry, but as military men one should take this as a professional courtesy in an attempt to assist your with your queries in an expedient a fashion as practical. Having shopped with John myself on several occasions prior, I was happy to see him warm up as our transaction progressed. He is a wonderful man to work with, especially when time provides and respect is given in communication. The only comment of ire would be placed upon the button thread used on the Trousers, which gave way early and in number. Luckily our newly minted private was an expert at button threading by weekends end. Thank you Gentleman.
