Perhaps the best experience of any hotel I have stayed. Rustic but comfortable. Plenty of things on site to see. Strasburg Railroad runs right in front. Quiet country with occasional clip clop of horses. Worth the adventure.

Nice site seeing tourist offbeat, seen from train ride on Strasburg Railroad trip. Place for kids and petting zoo.

This place was AMAZING! The train car that we were in was clean, lots of room and it is very much upgraded! The petting zoo, was very fun! The food for the animals was only $1, which is a good deal for lots of food! But, the only thing that was iffy was the breakfast because my mom order strawberry pancakes and the strawberries came in a can, which makes sense because it is a train car motel! But overall I would rate this motel a 9.9/10
I would absolutely recommend this place, it is amazing!

This was an extremely disappointing experience. Our original reservation was for the "mail car" which was described as 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was perfect since i was traveling with my wife, daughter and granddaughter. Upon check in the woman at the front desk was so quick to get things done that she ran my credit card for the balance and then asked if i wanted it on that card, which i did not. So now I have to wait 5-7 business days for my money back. I was then told that the train car was actually a bedroom and a living room which had a murphy bed. But after checking in, we needed to be moved because they informed us that the AC was not working. We were given a new train car that had 2 beds and 2 bunk bed with 1 bathroom. This room was terrible! It smelled like urine, had a mattress on the lower bunk that was to small, and a bathroom door that didnt close or even lock. When we informed the front desk we were told that the door doesnt lock for the safety of children, even thought you can unlock it from the outside in case of an emergency. When i spoke with the owner, i was told that her husband would personally fit the issue which NEVER happened. It was an all around terrible experience and i would never return nor recommend this place.

My four-year old grandson loves trains and we took a chance on the Red Caboose Motel. We stayed in Alaska 9, and before we left, my grandson asked if we could come back. It is a tight squeeze. We were 3 adults and two children, but the room was clean and it was hot as blazes out, but the air conditioners kept us comfortable. The bathroom is tiny and the little ones had to shower, but that worked out as well. We loved seeing the piglets at the petting zoo. We didn’t enjoy the dinner at Casey Jones. Our waitress was wonderful, but we would not return there to eat. We found The Speckled Hen which is a gem, complete with a lovely playground. I would also recommend Spring House Tavern for dinner and Down on the Farm Creamery for reasonably-priced and delicious homemade ice cream. You can walk to the National Train Museum from the hotel. We went to Cherry Crest Adventure Farm which is also close to the Caboose Motel. It was definitely pricey. Tickets are $23 each but you could easily spend hours and hours there because there are so many activities. It is very well done and each activity relates to farming and agriculture. It’s a great place for kids with everything from trampolines to tractors that kids can climb on. We would not hesitate to return to the Caboose Motel. It’s a great location for family activities.

Didnt stay or eat here, but its awesome of the owners to let people come and pet/feed the farm animals.some folks also took buggie rides, driven by amish.

This was a last minute decision but we did not regret it. The place we normally stay was booked. Such a unique experience, it brings out the kid in you.

The lady at the front desk was amazing. So welcoming, helpful and sweet. Customer service was amazing.

Rooms were quaint, clean, more space than expected. I loved the bay windows on our car. Bathroom was small but it served it's purpose. Nice and quiet, since you're in your own car, you don't have to worry about noisy neighbors. Great country view out the back of our caboose. Would stay here again.

My mother and I stayed here in March of 2023 for a quick mother-daughter getaway. The Red Caboose was SO charming and cozy. We stayed overnight in the baggage car. The night we stayed it rained and it was the most relaxing experience hearing it pound on the car roof. Casey Jones' restaurant was delicious and crazy affordable and the gift shop was amazing. We bought way too much, haha! Absolutely love it here, we can't wait for our next visit.

Cute concept, great for kids under 13. Petting zoo, Amish buggy rides and cabins are spacious. Ours had a sunken tub with jets. AC units kept up with weather being hot. Restaurant on site was phenomenal.
Highly recommend for a train getaway.

Once in a lifetime, place to try. Beautiful area. If you're a photographer, this is the place. The area is peaceful and absolutely beautiful.

It’s more like 4.5 out of 5 for me. Two minor issues: the first is that for 2 adult entrees, a child meal and dessert and tip the meal was nearly $100. Portions were HUGE and the food was very good. The waitress was great too. The second was that being close to some working farms it can be a bit, fragrant at times. While eating dinner in the dining car, we had a great view of manure being spread on the field directly across the street, right next to the road.
Other than two very minor issues, we love this place! The kids love the trains, animals at the zoo and the train ride! We will be back!

Updated rooms, a/c, cable, even food delivery, clean. Much more than we expected, plenty to do on the property and staff is excellent.

I gave this place a one star, but if there was a zero, I would’ve gave them that because the girls that are running the restaurant area where you check in to be seated were rude, snotty and completely tone deaf to Customerservice needs — when I realized that when I asked to be put on the waiting list after a half hour I found out that I was never actually on a waiting list, they ignored me—we had came a little later than the rest of our party and we had to wait for further accommodations For seating—we were completely lost in the continuing lineup piling in— then when trying to inquire as to what was going on and the status of the wait —I was given no answer — more miserable looks with nasty attitude — with no apologies —I further tried to inquire about if they do to go orders i continued to be given a snotty attitude with no information as to how I could order food to go— that was it for me— I left— I own a food establishment, and these girls with their disgusting attitudes would have been fired on the spot in my eatery for that kind of behavior—-to the owner— I would never allow people like that to represent my business with their miserable attitudes and faces that they were giving out to customers —rude rude rude! Unorganized and unaccommodating environment to say the least. Disgusting experience!

Great location and fun hotel rooms, which are converted caboose or other railcars. They have a nice restaurant on premises. Location is ideal for going to the Pennsylvania Railroad museum or the Strasburg Steam Railroad, both less than a mile away. In fact, the steam rail line runs in front of the hotel and is a great place for photographers

We stayed in the Alaska car, could have been cleaner hair all over the shower, and I'm bald
so it wasn't from me. Paint jobs would make it look like the way they are represented in the picture also level it back up I'm still off balance
