My roommate and I have had nothing but an amazing experience here at The View! We love absolutely everything about it here! And when it came time to renew our lease we wanted to change from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom so we could live with our friend. Razie at the front desk was absolutely amazing! She was beyond helpful and even stopped us in the lobby to give us an update on where we were in the process of transferring and she managed to help us get everything squared away within 24 hours!

Cole is a fantastic employee who always brings good vibes and uplifting enthusiasm! The apartment complex as a whole is a very nice place to live while also being friendly and easy to work with.

I’ve stayed here for the past two years and management has been extremely unprofessional to say the least. When I moved in the furniture was already a bit chipped and clearly wasn’t in perfect shape. I’ve had to get the chairs and other furniture fixed multiple times because of how fragile they all were despite paying $700 + a month. Every time I would reach out o management about issues that mainly dealt with being charged unnecessary this they would act like they couldn’t help me or didn’t know their job correctly. When move our day came I cleaned out the whole apartment and made sure the furniture looked identical to how it was left. I got billed over $2,000 because of how non-chalantly the person inspecting my apartment was. I’ve emailed all management and have been ignored. Travis who people will see often hasn’t even responded. This apartment complex is a SCAM! Do not do it! And they certainly don’t care about anything except scamming college students!

Awesome support staff that's always friendly and ready to help! They also just installed a brand new mail room like a residential version of Amazon lockers. Being a short bus ride from campus is a huge plus.

The view seems nice but when it’s time to move out they will rip you off for everything in the apartment.the walls are super thin as well, so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms. Save some money and do not chose to live here.

Bad apartments and service. The front desk staff is not very helpful. They should hire new people.

They have horrible money management and regulations. There were several instances when the people who worked in the office gave me false information. The management is often very condescending and impersonal. There is always a hidden charge when it comes to the view. After paying a $300 security deposit, I was told to pay for damages which accused prior to moving in. The only positive is the food the occasionally give out. Aside from that, I would recommend any other State College housing complex, as they are very up front.

The management is TERRIBLE, They will tow you and do nothing about it if your parking sticker falls off, in the apartment complex that YOU pay for. I was charged $170 for towing because I parking sticker apparently fell off one night, and I didn't notice, making me miss my classes. They are in it for the money, not the residents.

I lived at the View State College for two years, and just moved out this summer. The property and the apartments weren't terrible; however, their management is unresponsive and lacking. If I remember correctly, at the end of 2018, the management company that owned the View changed. This change shut down the resident portal at the last minute right before our rent payment was due for the month. Over winter break, without much notice, the residents had to mail in checks for that month's rent. In addition, the management rewards residents with gift cards for writing reviews and rating the apartment on their website - I too earned a small gift card when I lived there for doing this.

Now that I have moved out, my problems with the View have not ended. My lease ended on 7/25, so the management had until approximately 8/25 to send my final account statement and security deposit. After 30 days past my lease ending, I contacted Travis Hagar, the assistant property manager, on 8/27 to inform him that I never received my final account statement. Our move out instructions stated that they could only accept questions and concerns about the final account statements via email. He responded that the final account statements were mailed out the day before. I then emailed him about once a week to inform him that I still never received my final account statement, with no response. On 9/14, I called the View since I was not receiving a response via email. I was told that they would leave a note on Travis's desk to mail me a new account statement on Monday. On 9/18, he emailed me back informing me that he was contacting the corporate office and that he would update me when he heard back. On 10/3, after over 2 weeks of not receiving an update, I called the View again. This time, I was transferred to speak with Travis directly. He informed me that the last group of final account statements were never mailed out, and that they were just finally mailed out.yesterday. He also stated that the check for my full security deposit would be written on Friday and overnighted to me. Since I was told before that my final account statement was mailed out "yesterday", I have a hard time believing that it was actually mailed out yesterday, on 10/2, especially since Travis stated that he would update me when he 'heard back from corporate' and he did not. Either way, not mailing me my final account statement or security deposit within 30 days of my lease ending is illegal. This entire situation about the final account statement isn't only frustrating since I still have not received my security deposit back, but also frustrating that I have not received responses from the property management and lied to when I do receive responses for over a month now.

Management incompetent, maintenance is embarrassing, and DO NOT let them sell you on the internet. No internet service the first week of school. Pavlov media, the service provider is useless. Been on the phone with their Indian call center multiple times to no avail. Internet still does not work. I do not understand how an apartment complex marketed to college students does not have reliable internet. It is truly pitiful.

It’s just great. Has a gym, coffee bar, free food occasionally, and is pet friendly - only things I need in life along with the peace and quiet of not being on-campus in the hustle and bustle. Sold my car. Took the bus everywhere since they include a free bus pass. Amenities rarely overcrowded and they have cool events for free.

They continuously try to nickel and dime you. Dishonest business practices are the norm. Apartments are admittedly decent, but the price is far too high for the chinsey appliances/furnishing and constant head aches with management. Literally any other apartment on Toftrees Ave would he a safer bet, even though these ones look nice from the outside.

There are gift card incentive programs for leaving good reviews, so take the 5 star reviews with a grain of salt.

Living over the summer is especially terrible. Instead of giving notice of where and at what time maintenance will show up in your home, they basically give a broad sweeping notice that they feel allows basically anyone from any service they want to show up whenever. This is because a lot of work has to be done between resident change up, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an illegal business practice. I have effectively lived for the past month and a half with zero privacy. Strangers randomly show up with no credentials at inconvenient times, things are moved or left unlocked and lights are left on.

EDIT** In response to owner's reply.
1. Leaving a review gives a resident a massive amount of points towards the residents reward program, which qualifies for gift cards, so it isn't entirely honest of you to say there is no incentive for reviews.

2. Though PA, sadly, is one of the few states without a specific statute designating notice that must be given for landlord entrance in non emergent conditions, if taken to court, a resident could still sue for the right to quiet enjoyment. Regardless of the wording of the lease, the covenant of quiet enjoyment is implied in any renters lease by the courts. It would be a clear violation of my quiet enjoyment to have from June 19 to August 14 a blanket permission for anyone to enter my unit without my permission. Vendors especially have been awful. While I'm trying to enjoy a quiet day off with my fiancé, painters coming in and out with blanket two month notice is bad enough, but they were being downright rude and just opening my door and yelling multiple times throughout the day. I couldn't understand what they were saying, and maybe they were just yelling into apartments to try and find their coworkers, but it went on forever. The View's friendly maintenance staff is the complex's best attribute, but randomly walking in at any time has caused several instances of violated privacy that make living here a real head ache.

A final thought is that I used to love living here. I am a 3-year resident and I have watched the community go downhill steadily, and it really just makes me sad.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've lived here for 2 years and never had an issue with any of the amenities, the package pick up, or any of the workers. I would highly recommend this off-campus property to anybody who wants to have a fun time and memorable time whilst living >5 minutes from campus.

The View is an amazing property and community. There is a reason why The View has the highest renewal rate out of any property in State College.

Trashy apartment loves your money. Shady gay manager tows residents car in the night coupling with walkers towing. By the way, the manager revealed that they look into your trash and keeps photos of it.

I never lived there, but do not recommend simply for one reason. They bought (or found!) student emails from Penn State, and send advertisement emails to students. This is a bad method of intrusive advertisement.

Recently, they have been towing residents NIGHTLY! After the start of the new year, many renewal lease residents parking passes expired and the only notification about getting a new one was given in an email in JULY. No further notifications, reminders, or warnings are given and cars WILL BE TOWED for a $200 fee (even though your make, model, and license plate are all on file with them). After explain the major lack of communication was treated with very little respect and even talked down too. For this reason and other recent sketchy actions (such as, taking down the online portal during the holidays making it unable to pay rent online forcing the payments to be done via snail mail and then charging a late fee which was also a HASSLE to correct their mistake) Im lowering their score.

The View loves your money, NOT you.

Pros: pet friendly, pool, maintenance, printing in clubhouse

Cons: DISHONESTY

• We were told that this is a nice, quiet neighborhood, as it is just The View and the senior community down the road.
It was left out was that we would be living in a construction zone for a year while The Valley is being built. Also, if the construction doesn't wake you up, the garbage truck emptying the dumpster every Monday is sure to jolt you awake.

• They lied by saying we were on a "private" bus route, as we are the only apartment complex on the route.
When it came time to move-in, it turned out that we actually share a route with, the newly constructed, The Station across the street (and The Valley once it is finished being built). The View did not mention the construction of either apartment complex to us.

• Claimed that The View is a gated community, closing the gates every night at 10: 00pm.
The View is actually a community with a gate, that is constantly open. In 4 months, the gate has never closed. They really acted like it was going to though, as they gave us all gate codes and a pass.

• We were told that we have free printing in the clubhouse library.
So far this is true, however we ran out of toner halfway through the last semester and it still has not been replaced, 2 months later.

Maintenance is actually pretty good at responding to and fulfilling service request, but they have a nasty habit of walking into your apartment without knocking. Apparently maintenance will go into the apartments during breaks to do any necessary maintenance. The View assumes that students are home during break, so they give no notice that maintenance will be coming, nor will they knock once they're there.

A couple of months ago, the resident portal was shutdown, with very little notice, just as rent was due. Then The View issued late fees for any past due payments, yet they were the reason they were past due.

More often than not, packages can't be picked up until the day after delivery, as the staff are slow to check them in.

The service of the staff is hit or miss, typically they are nice but a few are actually pretty rude.

The build quality of the apartments could be better, as there are cracks in a lot of the walls, but it's still alright. Though a new thing that started happening once it got cold, is that the doors wont shut right. Bedroom B's door rarely shuts, and if it does, shutting the front door opens it back up. Bedroom C's door is hard to shut and the lock won't latch, as the door has shifted. Maintenance claims that the doors shut fine, and there is nothing to fix.

If The View would advertise itself as what it actually is, then I would not be upset with them. However, they have created this false image that they preach to prospective residents, fooling them into a lease. The View is a fine living experience. However, it simply is not what I was promised when I signed my lease last year.

Wow! I absolutely love this place! Beautiful location, beautiful apartments, and so many amazing amenities! I love hanging out by the pool with all my pals. And I can’t forget about the amazing staff! They truly care for every individual and always welcome me with a smile. 10/10 would recommend.
