TJ's Restaurant and Drinkery reviews
17Food is alrighty but the waitress is so helpful and hospitable. Good beer selections and tasty cocktails!
Ok Food but TERRIBLE AND VERY RUDE Service. We're Berwyn Locals and I've never had such a terrible experience at TJs as I did the past TWO consecutive times. BOTH times they lost/misplaced my takeout order despite me calling ahead and confirming it was ready. To add to it, when I asked to speak to the manager he came out and said in no unclear terms that they arent responsible for takeout orders being picked up by the wrong person. Go figure! In one sentence, food is good, service terrible, rude and unapologetic!
I really like TJ's quite a lot. They have had the same food menu (for the most part) the time I have been going. And it is very solid. Much like their usual tap list.
A coworker treated us to lunch from here and it was delicious. Everyone loved their food. The only issue I had was that I felt bad when I realized the 2 short rib tacos I picked cost $20. They make it look like the taco is full of meat by stuffing the ends but then barely any meat in the middle. They were delicious but I don't think I'd pay $20 again for 2 tacos some chips and a little guacamole. I feel like my co workers got a bit more bang for their buck with their mushroom quesadilla and Korean BBQ chicken wings/chicken fingers.
The food was amazing I had the pork sandwich, it had a different name on the menu but that is what it was. It was amazing and I would definitely order it again. The service was wonderful even with the bartender being busy and taking care of tables.
My friend and I have been three times this week while in the area for business. We have had swift, friendly service each time as well as phenomenal food. The drink selection is also great for IPA lovers.
I've been going to this place for 13+ years. I love good beer and good cocktails. But I have never felt more insulted and dismissed than I did by the bartender here tonight. After a night of revelry (which included many bites and drinks from TJ's), my group decided to do a shot to celebrate the Phillies winning their first playoff series in 11 years. The consensus was green tea shots. BUT NO. The bartender is way too cool to make that particular shot, and makes sure to let the whole bar know it. I'll pour you Jameson shots, but that's it. Whatever dude. If your bar's too cool for me, that's the last time you'll see me.
Wow. $100 (Tip included) for three mediocre salads and two cups of soup. And we had to send back the soup because it was cold.
Will be removing TJs from restaurant options.
Worst restaurant I have been to in PA and i lived here all my life. The food was disgusting, servers were all over the place and the owner is extremely rude and creepy. I wouldn't go back even if the meal was free. I'm not one to complain or write reviews but this is necessary.
Me and my fiancé ordered boom boom shrimp for pickup and they were crazy overpriced, had nearly no sauce, and weren’t even cooked properly. We visited here about 2 years ago and I’ve always thought this place was unreasonable and their menu is lacking, and visiting today just validated that.
Food is very great, they couldn't supplant pulled pork with bean stew on nachos, not a lot of customization on food but rather still taste was great. Fried fish and French fries were astounding. Everything is little at greater cost end yet great stuff.
One of my favorite local spots. Without fail, I order the Apple & Grilled Chicken Salad and my boyfriend orders the Chicken & Waffle Sandwich. The Korean wings, Mushroom Quesadilla and Mac & Cheese are solid choices too!
Love this place. Great food, great drink and amazing beer selection. Staff is always so friendly and nice. Our new go to!
We have been there before and it's been okay, but Friday was a different story. My wife ordered their mushroom burger. It arrived with NO mushrooms!
UNBELIEVABLE Incident!
I went in to pick up an on line order, while the bartender (who was the only employee on the floor) went to the back. Another gentleman walked in. He was there to pick up a call in order. When attempting to sit in a bar stool, it slide across the floor and the elderly gentleman fell down rather hard. I ran to assist him and at that time a waitress and saw him on the floor. She asked if he was okay and ran into the kitchen. She came back and asked if he needed ice or wanted to talk to a manager. He said he was okay but the chair should be looked at. A man named Chris came out of the kitchen with his dinner. He never asked the customer if he was okay. When the bartender handed him back his credit card and ask if he was okay, he said someone should look at the chair. The owner/manager Chris looked at the elderly man and said maybe it was your insufficient shoes. Standing as to intimidate the older man. The man was wearing Topsiders. As soon as the man left Chris put the stool right back and never examined it. His head missed the waitress-counter by less than an inch which could have killed him. I think the greasy floor and skinny metal legged chair made it slide across the floor almost resulting in a serious injury. The owner/manager could not have cared at all. He just ate his meal after rudely dismissing the gentleman. If this is how you feel about your customer's you should not work in a customer service industry. The below response from the owner is not true.
First, they are ‘temporarily’ NOT SERVING ALCOHOL without an explanation.
Second, this was our second visit after a overpriced mediocre burger a few months ago. We ordered overpriced short rib poutine (see photo), the meat was room temperature and the fries were oil soaked. There was barely any cheese and it was not melted. We told our server and they said the food can be replaced but we left and paid for our $5 fountain soda for which I did receive a courtesy refill.
The meals and service were ahead of my expectations. I absolutely loved the ambience of this spot. Amazing restaurant to take the family out for lunch.
