I love living in Toftrees with it being a more quiet area as well as the best apartments in the city. I love all of the features of my apartment and everything is always taken care of well. I also love having access to the pool and fire pit in the summer months. I guess one thing I would like to see is for the pool to be heated. Other than that, everything is amazing!

Location is between a golf course and the highway. If you are on the golf course side it is pretty quiet. If you are on the highway side it will always be loud. The golfers have a tendency to leave golf balls on the cars parked outside so be aware of that.

The ground maintenance is pretty good. Salt gets applied consistently before winter storms. Plowing of roads is good. Spring planting keeps the area pretty throughout the summer. People don't always clean up after their dogs and this seems like a persistent issue.

If anything breaks in the apartment the staff is pretty quick about getting it fixed after notifying them.

Our shower pressure is pretty disappointing and the amount of hot water is reasonable, but a bit limited.

I truly enjoy living here. I’ve been here just over a year, I’ve had a couple maintenance issues but the fellas respond promptly, and professionally and are very kind. Even when my son has felt nervous they showed him the work they were doing and he felt involved. Thanks fellas from crick 830!

A really great place to live! The staff are so friendly and helpful: the clubhouse and it's amenities are great, and the location is close enough to campus for an easy commute but far enough away to escape some of the noise and chaos of downtown and the stadium. I would definitely recommend to incoming graduate students and young professionals.

I moved here in August 2021 and the staff is really friendly. Unfortunately due to a nasty car wreck, I couldn't move in as scheduled, but the folks here were really helpful in changing my move-in date and even left a little move-in package on the counter. The apartments are large for the price that you pay compared to other places in State College. The clubhouse is amazing with a nice fitness center, a pool, and a pool table! My only real complaint is that there is a fee for everything: a yearly fee for the clubhouse (that does decrease your second year), a fee for adding someone to your lease, a fee if you ever want to transfer your lease, etc. It'd be nice if my rent just covered things like that.

If I could see anything added to living at Toftrees, I'd love to have my own washer and dryer. When I was looking for a place, Apartments.com said that they have in-home washers and dryers, but the community I live in doesn't. I chose to live here anyway, but the price of washing and drying just increased, so I'd love a washer/dryer. Additionally, it'd be nice if there was somewhere to put a volleyball court like the other apartments near us.

The people here are so nice and everything was relatively easy to get set up and situatued. The apartment itself is spacious and clean, big windows which makes it feel more open, and everything is in good condition.

Great pricing for a great community and apartment. Everyone is so respectful and quiet here. The apartment itself is large and spacious with great natural lightning in a beautiful location. 5 minutes from Walmart and 10 minutes from downtown. I love living here!

The setting of Toftrees is nice but management is very tough to deal with. They switched my apartment a week before move in, messing up furniture orders I had made. The apartment was dissimilar to the model I was shown during my tour (the bathroom was completely different). The hallways in my building are continually dirty. Management was unresponsive for days when I notified them there were discarded hygienic products outside my neighbors door. I have also had to vacuum cat litter from the hallway. In a year of living here, I’ve seen a cleaner exactly once. A maintenance worker let himself into my apartment for a repair (when I was home) and did not use a proper mask for the duration of his work. During the height of covid there were men continually exercising in the clubhouse without masks. When I complained, management told me there was nothing they could do since this continued to happen on Sundays. When I needed wifi in the clubhouse, it didn’t work. This summer I have seen the laundry room ceiling panels collapse twice and have had to report it. Both times I walked in to do laundry and saw debris all over the floor and the ceiling crumbling! I told management I don’t feel safe going in there and they said “we cleaned it up right away, ” ignoring the other ceiling panels in obvious decay.

Toftrees is in a gorgeous location, and is within a 5 minute drive to PSU campus. Jennifer Peters was a great help in setting up a space for me, and we did it all virtually. I would reccomend this place to anyone looking for an off campus apartment.

Beware that there is a charge for EVERYTHING. There is a mandatory clubhouse fee, even if you never use it. If you need to move out during the lease and you find someone who will take over, there is a $500 charge. Also, that person needs to pay the clubhouse fee, even though the clubhouse fee you paid was good for a year.

The apartments are okay. They are old. They also have centipedes or silverfish (I cannot tell the difference). I would see about one per day. People came to treat it, and I wouldn’t see them for a while, but then they’d eventually come back. Overall, they aren’t bad, but at the price points they aren’t the best value.

The leasing office and maintenance are good.

Jennifer was incredibly helpful with the process and had quick turn around on our email traffic. When I moved in there was a minor discrepancy with my apartment, but they had guys out later that day to fix it. Overall it was a pleasant experience working with Jennifer and the staff at Toftrees.

Nice quiet complex. Just wished WiFi worked better (usually, can’t even have a 5 minute conversation with anyone as signal constantly gets cut off.

Here for about 7 months, no real problems, but I had a non urgent maintenance request when I moved in, and another recently, both were finished within 12 hours of the request.

If you're looking at the reviews you might want to note how absurd some of the 1 star reviews from sheltered college kids are in assessing the quality here.
Stuff like: "I put a downpayment down to hold an apartment and then didn't end up renting and they won't give me my downpayment back. " Well DUH, what did you think the downpayment was for?

For the price I love my apartment. The clubhouse is neat and well laid out. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only draw back is we had a lot of water/pluming issues at various times. The maintenance team would always come visit right away and worked tirelessly until the problem was solved. They are fantastic. The neighborhood is very quiet and there is plenty of street parking for visitors. Also very safe for living in a first floor apartment. Plenty of dogs in the neighborhood and a dog park for tenants (my dog was unfortunately too small and can fit through the gaps in the fence).

Toftrees made it really simple to transfer our lease when we showed interest in a different unit. Jen and Jeremy were really responsive and easy to get ahold of throughout the transfer process. Jen did an excellent job of showing units that not only fit my budget but also my interests. Overall, she was very kind, attentive, and professional.
