Trexler Nature Preserve reviews
21On the blue trail now. It's neat because you can see the zoo from the top and you can see the animals that are on exhibit that you drive by. The hill is really steep.
Our favorite was the covered bridge, though there was not any information on it; year built or anything of the sort. The trails were nice. Overall we enjoyed our visit there.
Been hiking the trails at the Preserve for the past 2 years and LOVE them! BUT TODAY as we were ascending the first hill on the North Trail, 2 dogs ran down the hill and came right at my leashed dog. I have about had it with people not leashing their dogs. My dog is a protector so if a dog comes at us, she will retaliate. How unfair is it that I am obeying the rules and MY DOG is the one being rushed? THEN, after I screamed a few choice words to the owner (I was VERY UPSET), she THREATENS me to unleash her dogs on mine for "round 2"! What the heck is wrong with people?
The Zoo was having a little Halloween event that the kids got to wear their costumes happily more than they expected. We all had a good time in the group we were in, and all the animals looked great with only a few not being visible. The drive in and out is always great with beautiful sights to see.
Absolutely beautiful park! Long enough to wear out your legs out and incredible sites.elk.buffalo.zoo.vistas.covered bridges.fjord.
This is a semi-regular place for me (and friends) to trail ride and walk our dogs. Beautiful scenic outlooks, good trail system.
A nice short hike from the lookout area down to the creek. We tried to wade the creek a little barefooted but the rocks were real slick. I recommend water shoes if you try to walk in the water.
Went during the week for a picnic. It was very pleasant, got to see Buffalo. I got to drive my Prius across the ford to go over the river.

Wonderful park with well over 30 miles of multipurpose trails. The Trexler border trail is a gem with a perfect mix of difficulty, elevation gain, and varied forest and grasslands. We are so lucky to have this in our county.
A lot of trails.walking, cycling and saw signs for horse back.great walking awesome view.got lost look at posted maps got back to the car.even though got lost had a great time hiking
Hiked the Elk Watch trail on the ridge - moderate difficulty, well-marked. Did not see any elk, but it was a warm day and they were probably down in the valley. Portable toilets were in poor condition - one looked like it had been overturned by flooding, the other needed cleaning, but it was the end of Labor Day weekend and park was very busy. Also, bring plenty of water - no refill places we could see. Anyway, will definitely come back again!
We took our 5 year old grandson and he was thrilled to see the animals! I realize that funds to maintain the zoo animals, the grounds & habitats, feed for the animals, pay the staff, etc.have most likely really dropped with the pandemic. Hopefully, the next time we bring our grandchildren to the zoo more exhibits will be open. Best of luck to a Lehigh Valley treasure!
Excellent location! Lots of wildlife to learn about. Good layout and informative staff. Extremely hilly so you can get a good workout in too!
Fantastic what a beautiful Park and the zoo was very very nice very well maintained and the animals were well maintained a plus
What a beautiful peaceful place to enjoy the day. I will definitely be back. Great views, beautiful creek, love the covered bridge, and nice to see a herd of bison surviving.
Went to orchard road parking lot at 7am today, Started hike on broader trail, I have been hiking lots of places, This trail is awesome, Valleys, rolling hills, streams, shelters, bird observatory, well maintained.trail marked by red markers, went off trail for half mile not paying attention and wound up on kids peace property, found trail again, was done in five hours. Can not wait to go again.
One of the most beautiful views you will ever see! After visiting the zoo, I always make sure we stop to admire it and take some photos. Great area!
Slightly over grown on the back side of the boundary trail expect a lot of ups and down ware very good trail or running shoes your will need it try to plan on a cool dry day
Very nice place to get out with the family and for the kids to swim/play in the water. Very nice Scenery when walking their trail walk.
The border trail is an awesome long-distance trail run. I love that there are so many different kinds of landscapes. There are lots of different trails to create the loop distance you want. This place is gorgeous in the winter! What a great place to hike in the Valley!
