We were a bit underwhelmed. Tutoni's has been recommended by quite a few of my colleagues from the York area, so we felt the need to try it out. Growing up with an Italian mother, I'm a bit picky about Italian restaurants - but, I'm usually pretty lenient if it's priced well.

This is definitely priced as a high end Italian restaurant. It disappoints at that level for sure. My first trip to an Italian restaurant is always something pretty basic. I got the rigatoni Bolognese. The sauce was darn near flavorless. The pasta was definitely fresh, which is a nice touch, but it was overcooked for my taste. I like a bite and it didn't have one.

I rarely put this in my reviews, but the service was odd. We got seated at a 4 top as just two. The restaurant wasn't full at all. But the waitress seemed annoyed we were only two. The rest of the time, we felt like an afterthought. But the oddest part of the evening was, a separate girl who delivered our dessert, seemed to roll her eyes at us when she dropped it off. We didn't exchange words with her, just felt her dismissal. It was strange.

I won't be back.

The charcuterie board and pastas were delicious. Friendly service and nice ambience. Will go again.

The owners of Tutoni’s also own ONE Hospitality Group catering. I would not recommend them for your next event. We hired them for our daughter’s wedding at Moonstone Manor in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania. This celebration included over 200 people and the catering cost over $20,000. The food was awful. The rice and chicken was undercooked and they prepared a full gluten free meal, not at our request. We only asked for 4 gluten free meals. We contacted the organization but have not received any resolution to this issue. They have admitted that they dropped the ball but have not offered how they will rectify this situation. We are honorable and God fearing people. If you mess up, fix it.

This is a nice restaurant, the several different entrees I've had were quite tasty. The reason for three stars is the desserts; lured in by tiramisu, or olive oil orange cream cake and they bring out a literal shot glass of cake. Total, total let down to top off the evening/meal. I'm American, I'd like some kind of size to a decadent dessert after the main course, not a tablespoon of it.

We were so happy to stumble upon tutoni's and have been back multiple times. The tapas at the upstairs bar are amazing. Their calamari is to die for. And the chef's table is truly an amazing experience with some of the most delicious food I've ever had. Every experience we have had here has been wonderful! Highly recommend!

Solid dishes all around.

The octopus and salmon were cooked to perfection.

I saw a review from a few months ago where someone commented his business being “not the right color. ” That sounds like my experience today.

My wife placed a takeout order for a simple pasta dish at exactly 7: 08pm and was told to pick up in 20-30 min. We showed up at 7: 40 and was told to wait “a few minutes. ” Ten minutes went by - no update. Twenty minutes went by - was told to wait “a couple more minutes. ” The lady behind the bar in charge of our order wouldn’t even make a SINGLE eye contact with us unless we spoke to her. At 8pm, an HOUR after the order was placed, we’d had enough and asked for a refund. The lady voided the charge with a shrug and said the kitchen was backed up. During the 20 min we were there, we witnessed foods being served left and right, and no one seemed like they had to wait an hour for their food. As I was walking out, I mention the whole situation to the host, and she gave me the same casual shrug and told me to complain to the manager (who apparently was the lady handling our order!). It was really amazing how eager and casual they were about getting rid of me.

Based on the absolutely stellar reviews this place gathers, my only conclusion is the same as the reviewer I mentioned in the beginning - my business was probably not the right color. But I’m guessing that’s really not an issue for these guys. Enjoy your very white 4.5 star ratings!

If you want to impress your mate, this is the place to take your date! I had one of the best steaks I've eaten here.

Really well made food and friendly, low key service. Couldn’t ask for more. Definitely give this place a try!

I’d also like to address a previous review that implied this restaurant is racist. I will not question the reviewer’s experience, as I wasn’t there. My experience on the night I dined here was the customers were made up of multiple ethnicities and all were served in the same welcoming way. Again, I wasn’t there, but I’m inclined to believe the owner’s explanation they were fully booked due to a show at the venue directly across the street.

I’m only commenting on another review because I know the absolute devastation that can befall a small business accused of such a thing as racism. If true, I’ll be the first to boycott, but from my experience, these aren’t those people. Not even close.

First date at Tutonis was a success! Our waitress, host and not to mention the manager, Amanda made our first date so special. Shortly after we were seated by Stevie the manager sent over 2 glasses of champagne! It definitely helped to take the edge off and was such a sympathetic gesture. We enjoyed the berry superstitious from the cocktail menu with our starters, the local caramelized mushrooms, and the beet cured salmon. Absolutely divine. I loved how salty the mushrooms were. In this case, the ricotta was the perfect match. For my entrée I choose the special which was the Bronzino over quinoa and zucchini (spring veggies). My date enjoyed the T-bone steak over a potato purée & veggies. I particularly enjoyed my spring veggies. The quinoa was better than any quinoa I’ve had. I paired my Bronzino with a Pinot Grigio and my date sipped on the Malbec from Mendoza Argentina. The restaurant featured three mini desserts, which weren’t too sweet. I had a Limon cello digestive and my date sipped the porto. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and overall my experience was very pleasant. I cannot wait to come back!

This smaller bistro, with the softer lighting, and unique decor, should not be missed or underrated. I spent 7 years as a chef from new orleans, to the roundsman at the accomac inn, to the line chef at the pressroom in lancaster. The CHEF and staff at TUTONI's have taken dining to another level. Fresh unique food pairings, tied with an amazing drink selection that are perfectly paired, and wine list that you might see in a much larger restaurant. Make this a treasure worth the trip. The calamari, was exceptional with a crispness, the subtle tang of the pickled peppers and the bite of the spice in the sauce was a true surprise. The lamb meatballs rich and flavorful paired with a smooth and subtle sauce, melted in your mouth. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE afford yourself the chance to taste the gnochii with braised short rib. Smooth, flavorful, with a taste of home.
Anyone who does not find something about this restaurant that is just thoroughly amazing should not bother going out to dinner. I will be back soon.

It wasn’t always this way but in the last couple of years, Tutoni’s has become the best restaurant in York with the most consistent experience. (That also speaks to current York restaurant scene, which in my opinion is down from a peak of a few years ago). The field greens are excellent. The traditional Italian dishes are delicious and it is hard not to get them. But their other entrees are great, as are their specials. And they have some of the most creative desserts that we always look forward to.

Stopped to have a pre-concert cocktail. Bar was virtually empty. Waited 20 minutes before someone took our order. Waited another 10 minutes for cocktails to arrive. After 35 minutes we decided to leave. Sad

Had the best meal ever in York area! Girlfriend's birthday could not have been better. We were treated very well during the entire evening. Our server, Angela, was amazing. A true professional who was kind, caring and knowledgeable. Food was amazing. Calamari, Carmelized mushrooms, Gnocchi, Bolognese, and the best meatballs around. Cocktails were very creative and flavorful. And outstanding Tiramisu! A dining experience that shouldn't be missed. Can't wait to return! Grazie Mille.

The food here has been on the decline. Their calamari appetizer is still one of the best calamari I’ve ever had. The cocktails are always fantastic. However, the past few visits the main entrées have been dismally disappointing. A $70 T-bone steak should be worlds better than Texas roadhouse but it missed the mark. I may return for appetizers and cocktails, but will never spend $300 for sub par food there again.
