Umami Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar, Exton PA

This used to be my favorite place! Sadly this place has gone down hill and the quality is gone! I’m not sure if has new owners or new management but it’s not the same at all! We have tried it 3 different times hoping it was a fluke but each time it was worse than the last. We won’t be back! I hate that this happened! I will miss the original!

I placed a pick up order to treat myself on my way home with my 3 yr old. I was put on hold 5 min then told 20 min. Once I got there I was told they forgot my roll ticket and it would be 15 more min wait. The rest of my order was ready but sat there getting cold. There was no apologies for the poor service or extra long wait with a toddler. I ended up waiting 30 min inside the restaurant and 50 min since placing my order. They have a new system and didn’t know how to handle a mistake. They continued making all other take out orders ahead of my roll.

Umami sushi from a very bad place with poor quality and sushi sushi masters are substandard. One by one came too much, and there were times when the rice didn't even cover the seaweed. Then, very little fish. Not even slivers, vegetables were barely there.

Ordered three rolls of rice as thick as a little finger, and the fried shrimp wrapped inside were hard and cold, probably from the previous day.

We ordered food from Umami for the first time and absolutely loved every dish! The shrimp red curry and Bangkok curry noodle was awesome! We’ll be back soon!

We have been going to Umami, since it opened & have recommended it to many, however, after this last take out experience, we will not be returning.
I placed an order for 2 rolls, gyoza & an egg roll. When I went to pick up my order, along with another order, they had a pick up table set up for customers. 1 staff person was there on the phone & never looked up to acknowledge my presence, so I looked on the 'pick up' table & saw 2 bags with our names & receipts with our complete order stapled to the stapled closed bags. I took the bags & left without being seen or acknowledged. When we opened our bags, over an hour later, both orders were incomplete. We called & were yelled at, by the staff member, saying that I never waited to pick up the rest of the orders & we better get there to pick up the order. My son in law traveled 25 minutes & was told how wrong I had been, not to wait for the rest of both orders & was never offered a proper apology or any compensation for the misunderstanding. The food that was retrieved tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time & the one roll had 4 pieces instead of 6, as usual?

It seems that there is poor customer service & the food prep is getting shoddy, as the prices have been increased.

We are extremely disappointed & will never return again.

Spent around $38 for 1-6 piece smoke roll & 1-5 piece Shrimp Tempura roll & 1 order Singapore noodle.

Tasted good, rice was too sticky, but not worth the $ imo. For $38 can get more food elsewhere.

I was really happy with dinner at Umami! Service was on point and friendly. Food was fresh. Lots of nice touches on the sushi rolls I ordered. I'll be going back. Just wish they'd offer some of the more obscure sushi items like uni and Toro, but I get it, these items aren't as popular so it may not make sense to stock them

Fantastic and fresh sushi, artfully presented, delicious teriyaki and Thai Basil shrimp. Our server was great and promptly opened our bottle of byo wine. Highly recommend!

Delicious food The best quality. I had a great time dining in with my three toddlers, I had a great time enjoying myself amazing food. Worth every penny ️

Very good food. Dining room felt a little more upscaled than expected but food was still well priced.
Server was nice and tentative.
Shrimp tempura was nice and light.

Decent food but expensive and has some of the worst attitude towards customers. Don't understand how they stay in business

This is one of the more consistent options for Asian Fusion takeout in the area, and has become the restaurant I recommend most to those who seeking out a quality option in the area.

Honestly, this review is should be more of a 4.5/5 than a 4/5, however I have not dined-in for some time. I will update this review if I get the chance to do this.

I have been here two times; once for dine in with coworkers and once for carry out. Both times the food was delicious and the portions were as expected for the price. The quality of the raw foods were high quality. When I was there for carry out on a Friday evening they were extremely busy and I had to wait about an hour; it was worth the wait.

Food was pretty awful. I didn't think you could mess up a simple chicken stir fry, but they managed to. Absolutely no flavor at all, just a bunch of plain noodles. Chicken was chewy and poorly cooked.

Just had some late lunch here for the first time and it was great! Great, friendly service on top of great food.
It’s also beautifully decorated inside and gives a great atmosphere. The sushi was fresh and made very well as well as the General Tso’s. All very fresh and delicious, highly recommend!

Last night, I went to this restaurant along with my family. My son ordered Chicken Pad thai and it smells unbearable and thet didn't cooked properly. When we inform to them and they say simply Sorry. I'm very disappointed with this kind of attitude.

I highly advise avoiding this place! My son ordered the sushi last night, and has been showing signs of a foodbourne illness and is extremely ill. As a nurse of 25 years, I’m going to make an educated guess, that is was caused secondary to improperly prepared sushi.

Umami is my go-to sushi place in the area, I could not recommend it more. They have delicious food, a great variety on their menu, and friendly staff! The online ordering system is easy and it's always fresh and correct. I go at least once a week:)
