I loved visiting my sister when she lived here! The apartments were always clean. And the staff there made it such a friendly property to visit!

Living here with my friends was such an amazing experience. It really felt like it’s own community here.a home away from home you could say. I would highly recommend living here. And the staff that work here are just as amazing!

The worst apartment. Internet goes off up to 5 times a day and they never fix it. The hallways always have broken glasses.

They charge to many fees, electricity bill was not shown until last minute with $150.fees. Plus 69 per person is b.s. It should be like 25 to 30 at most in winter. 69 x4 =280. I dont even pay that for entire home. I would like to see meter read. They wont.

The maintenance staff is very helpful and always hard at work. They've performed multiple tasks for me and have always exceeded my expectations in terms of work quality and the timely manner it is completed. The office staff is always very friendly and it is a pleasure to be their tenant. Two thumbs up!

I would give a zero if I could. $96/person/month electric bill. That adds up to $821/ month not including laundry. Ugates charges you every moment they can. Not worth the money at all.

Wish a dishwasher and washer/dryer were in unit. Quite expensive, but you're paying for the ability to walk to campus. Snow removal is fine, but wish they would clear the entire sidewalk off to campus. Friendly staff and prompt maintenance fixes.

I am so glad that I chose to live at University Gate Apartments. Moving in here was stressful the workers are very kind and helpful. We had to submit a maintenance request for the apartment and the very next morning someone was there to fix it. I really appreciate how efficient the staff is if you have an issue.

This is a great place to live, very friendly and accommodating to everyone. The apartments come furnished and everything is really nice. The people living there are great too! Highly Recommend!

If your son or daughter is attending Penn State Behrend you should seriously consider UGates. We have been thrilled with our daughter's entire experience. The security may annoy her at times, but it gives us a great deal of comfort. The units are well maintained and much more spacious than any college housing we have seen for the price.
Most of all, we appreciate the management company. They are incredibly professional and responsive. It's easy to communicate with them electronically and the website is easy to use.
Thanks UGates for a great year!

Truthfully, U Gates sucks. It is cool to be that close to all of your friends, but the apartments are EXTREMELY cheap for the price that you pay to live here. Nothing works in the apartments. And even though you did nothing to make it not work, they charge you outrageous prices to fix it anyhow. They charge you random fines for pretty much anything they feel like. And you get written up and fined for simply standing outside your apartment smoking a cigarette with your room mate. I guess I'm not allowed to be outside at my own home. This place is actually ridiculous and I would not advise anyone to live here if you have any other options. If I could give less than one star, I would.

Rickety furniture small uncomfortable beds and an extremely unhelpful main office open 8-5 Monday through Thursday 8-2: 30 Friday and closed on the weekends if you need anything from them you have to take time off work or school.

Worst place to live. They don't care about you or your concerns at all, all they care about is making money. They will give you random roommates that you don't get along with and make it your problem. They violate their own lease, but make it seem that you are at fault. They will also take whatever they can from your security deposit until you get next to nothing back. They are overpriced and there are way better places to live. I highly recommend that you DO NOT live at University Gate Apartments. Aside from it being close to campus, you might as well just live on campus, you'll have a much better living experience.

I would never recommend anyone to live here. Outrageously priced for the things you get, which is close to nothing. No washer/ dryer, no dishwasher, small beds, dingy carpet, gross furniture. Maintenance personal is so slow. The only positive is that the office staff is friendly, besides that there is nothing good about this place. My boyfriend and I scrubbed my apartment from head to toe, going above and beyond and made it look better than when I first moved in. After inspection not only do I not get my security deposit back, but I am also billed for extra things such as "general cleaning, " "touch ups, " and "carpet scrubbing. " I will never give my business to anything in relation to this company. Worst experience ever and I will be telling everyone o know that is looking for college housing in the area.

Moved to ugates my junior year in order to live with people I know. Ended up convincing the people I knew I was going to live with senior year to stay, as opposed to us looking elsewhere. The 1100s are rarely noisy, and the only thing I miss is a dishwasher, something you learn to live without. Maintainence is quick, and the office folks are really friendly and helpful. They've been especially considerate and approachable dealing with some particuliars of my lease, and they never seem purturbed when you throw them a curveball question.

I've enjoyed my first semester at University Gates - at least enough to renew here instead of moving to the competition.

The location and integration into the campus shuttle loop are two of my favorite features. This is important for me, as my old Malibu has garbage tires and can't always handle Erie's winter, thus precluding living further off-campus. If need be, I can walk to the far end of campus in very little time. If the weather's awful or I'm feeling lazy, I can hop the shuttle.

I was warned that it would be a noisy, party-heavy place, and while that can certainly be the case in the rear apartments, I haven't had problems towards the front. It really depends on where you end up, so I'd recommend signing a lease early and requesting an apartment in a location you'd prefer while they're still available.

Also nice is that if you've got a friend or group of friends you want to live with and they're not all of the same sex, you can actually live with them, unlike at the on-campus apartments - which seem to be nothing more than glorified campus housing suites with less benefits.

Office staff is friendly, with decent hours. The attached laundromat and pizza place are added benefits.

My main complaint is probably the roads. I know Erie winters can be rough, but at times parts of the parking lot have been almost pure ice. Apartments also lack dish washers, which many modern apartments have, but it's understandable considering the age of the apartments.
