UPMC Memorial, York PA

I would give them a zero, but I'm unable to do so. I was admitted into this hospital the past week. It was the worse hospital admission ever. First, I must say two of the physicians were racist and several of the nurses. The charge nurse on duty at the time of discharge on 2/25/2023 was especially racist and lacked knowledge and nurturing skills for nursing. She's there just for a paycheck and should be fired or quit, seriously. They put me in a room way in the back and when I called for a nurse no one would come for 30-40 minutes. I almost fell going to the restroom. Even worse, they discharged me with a blood sugar of 38 which is a critical low. I was driving home and felt shaky and woozy. I decided to check my blood sugar. I had to pull over and call 911. The nurse gave me long acting insulin, but I didn't get to eat any food all day. Fortunately, a physician called to check on me. I had to think fast. The charge nurse, her name may have been Micka. She rushed me out and was very rude. If I had not been rushed this would not have happened. They kept me there for multiple days to run up medical bills because there was no reason to keep me any longer, everything was stable. However, when I was finally discharged, the charge nurse that day, rushed me out with a low blood sugar. I will be filing complaints with Joint Commission and QIO. I will never attend another UPMC hospital. I do not recommend going to this hospital drive past them and go somewhere else like Wellspan. A patient representative came to my room and she was helpless. She too was racist. I don't understand why they hire racist people to work in hospitals because you will get patients of all ethnic groups. I must say the ER staff was the best. I didn't get the same type of care. It was two separate worlds. And, the medical director was pleasant. I also had a nurse who was very through and pleasant the night of 2/24. The nurse supervisor was most racist and threatened to call security on me because I questioned my care and wanted to know why I was admitted, what my test results were, etc. How is wanting to know a diagnosis and why you're still there a crime? Please don't ask me to call your patient rep. It's a waste of time. The rep is racist and cares nothing about the patient unless they are Caucasian. No thanks!

Had cat scan done, liver scan and blood work. I was in extremely alot of pain. Saw doctor twice! I requested to see her, never made her presence shown again while I was there. Went to York Hospital, they SAVED MY LIFE. I HAD STAGE 3 CANCER. WILL NEVER GO BACK!

Will give one star but that is a negative one star! To sit and watch very sick patients sit in that waiting room! Some have iV started some with items from a test they had. They say they gather all the info before the doctor reviews it then talk to you! I have seen people be talked to out in the waiting room. In my opinion there is a TON of HIPAA laws being broken in that place. Plus they definitely are not out to make people feel comfortable a minimum 5 hour wait (on a day that they only have one patient) to double number in hours wait. Anxiety can create more health issues and all that waiting is just causing people to have more anxiety!

As I sat there waiting I watched three at least patients walk out the door! This new way of doing medicine really sucks for us that are sick! Let me add the lady from registration comes around in front of everyone asking registration information. In times like today these are not questions I would be answering in public! Again fine line to breaking the rules!

I would rather drive 50 miles to another hospital than to ever come to this hospital again! I feel so bad for those that come here sick and have to sit in the uncomfortable chairs while you are sick! Not to mention those sitting and puking while in the waiting room. NOBODY fricken cares at this place!

At this moment I have been sitting here for well over 5 hours to be seen. Came in with cough, short of breathe and headache (low oxygen level).

My opinion is to avoid this hospital at all cost!

Being that this is a new hospital l, the staff is very lazy and unattentive and dirty! My mother was having a stroke and the er nurses didn’t believe that it was sky high. She has been here for 12 hrs and no one has yet told her what’s going. I recommend going to York hospital because their staff is friendly and caring.

Dr.was very mean in the emergency department nurses was very unprofessional also very mean was slamming her things showed anger towards us I won't recommend it to nobody it was a bad experience

This is the worst place to go to. If your able to pick another hospital, please do it. Staff are unprofessional. Went there the other day and had a nurse check my temperature on my forehead and then use the same device without cleaning it on another person. Also they say to wear mast but staff walk around with out there mask over their face. I been hear a few times and was never a pleasant experience. Actually the last time I was here I walked out before being seen and whent to the other hospital across town.

Heart investigators the best Indonesian as far horizon concerned UPMC memorial has one of the top notch heart and Vast healer doctors in my opinion I couldn't answer better Care

Thank you to the staff today. A mother of two with very curious children and everyone who came in contact with us embraced my boys openingly. I want to thank John at check in (you are always very nice and today you made sure I was seen even though I came in last minute for some staff), the young blonde who took my youngest’s hand and spoke to him as if they were best friends (talking about cats- I wish I knew her name), heather who greeted my boys so kindly and made my blood work easy and pain free, Logan and Courtney who were super sweet to my boys as well (Courtney the way you bent down to great my boys was heartwarming). In September I had an older gentleman who was beyond kind as well who walked me to where to check in. And the young female I had in the MRI room was very knowledgeable and kind. I wish I could remember their names. Today I made sure to write a review with the names I grabbed today. UPMC make sure you treat your employees amazingly because no words can express how helpful it was to have such nice caregivers while truing to get medical work done. They made it feel like I didn’t have to keep my eyes on my kids and that helped a lot!

Thank you also to Lacey and Joe. You two are so sweet and personable.

1/23/23 I had Lannie take my blood today in the lab. Honestly didn’t even feel the needle. I haven’t had someone that good since a woman named Donna at wellspan 9 years ago. Dani in the ER is good also, but Lannie beat her today. Thank you for keeping me calm and trying to make me laugh. You did amazing with trying to strike conversation and make me feel understood.

I could not be happier with the care I received at UPMC Memorial. I was experiencing a pain like nothing else. It was in my middle, not as low as abdomen, came on like a bug but became excruciating over several hours. My husband rushed me there. I was seen quickly in the ER, diagnosed with appendicitis and scheduled for surgery first thing in the morning. Throughout the surgery and the days that followed I was treated very well. The doctors and nurses were kind and informative. I could not have asked for more!

How come since you got a new hospital doctor's got a huge raise and still no system in place got a big beautiful buildings and still the same outcome when they shut Memorial down that should of been the end of a horrible hospital n doctor's and never built this place. Unfortunately I have to give this place at least one star just to be able to share my experience. I wouldn't even write this hospital as a hospital. My dog got better treatment of a vet.

Worse ER I’ve even been to. Over 4 hour for nothing and they wouldn’t give me paperwork for proof that I was there because I didn’t want to wait any longer. They drew blood but I can’t get paperwork. Instead of spending all that money on looks you should’ve spent it on staff. Thank goodness for wellspan.

My dad is in the ER and the Dr talked so I could understand what she was telling me. She listened to my concerns and was genuinely kind.

Emergency room slow wait times! Very rude! And show no compassion! Make faces! And tell us to wear mask when some don't or under chin! And get to back to room their mask r down and some eating! They don't care like they use to. Not as clean as it use to be

I had major surgery at upmc hospital and I was so well taken care of. The best nurses and staff. They're the best.

They refused to give me my pain meds because they wrote down wrong time, wanted me to go through withdraw for 12 hours while I was having a possible heart attack, had to leave hospital so I could take my meds, WORST HOSPITAL EVER, DONT GO, withdraw makes your heart stress more
So basically they were trying to kill me
