UPMC Pediatrics Shippensburg

As a pediatric nurse, I was impressed with Dr. Black. He was thorough, personable and great with my granddaughter. His staff was great as well. Everyone was very nice and accommodating.

When our daughter was born, we were sent to the one major pediatric center in Chambersburg. Both my husband and I were absolutely horrified with their office, staff and treatment of our newborn. Luckily we found out about UPMC in Shippensburg just opening. We switched over immediately and it was like night and day.

Our daughter has been a patient of Dr. Black's at UPMC since she was about a month old (she's now two). Dr. Black always goes above and beyond, I can't say enough good things about him. As a first time parent, he has always taken his time at our appointments to answer every question, make us and our daughter feel at ease, and even crack jokes.

UPMC's network is amazing as well. They have an after hours help line for emergencies. I've only had to call once, and the nurse I spoke with was so helpful and kind. Dr. Black also called me back the next day to check on the situation.

We've seen Dr Vascik when Dr Black wasn't in and he was just as kind. The nurses and front office staff are also incredibly compassionate and patient as well. Very clean facility to.

Overall, my husband and I cannot say enough exemplary things about this practice. I'm so glad they opened and I hope Justice can grow up being a patient of Dr. Black's for many years to come.

We have a few pediatricians and none as good as this. They were very patient and understanding of my son's autism. Would highly recommend

Dr. Black is the biggest goofball when it comes to being a doctor. He has always answered all my questions regarding the health of my children which are both boy and girl. I could not ask for a better pediatrician. He has helped with a concussion with speech concerns, HFMD, and even considerably high lead levels, which required consistent blood drawings from a 1 year old. My children are healthy and joyful with the help of Dr. Black's care and the team that supports him. Thank you!

Also, the office and rooms are filled with awesome decorations that every kid will enjoy. They promote artwork from their kids and are extra generous with stickers! So much fun! If you are searching for a pediatrician, search no more, both Dr. Black and Dr. V (big beard) are exactly what you want!

Dr. Black and Dr. Vascik along with their staff are the best to work with. They are attentive, patient and address all concerns. I have switched multiple pediatricians offices due to my concerns for my children being dismissed or ridiculed and this office has done nothing but listen and provide top notch care. Highly recommend!

Dr. Vacsik is simply the best. Educated, kind, and extremely caring. Called us on a Sunday afternoon to simply check on our 6-day old daughter. Just amazing

Dr. Black is the best! When our son was born, he was 8 weeks premature. He had spent 2.5 weeks in the NICU and my husband and I were nervous wrecks when we brought him home. Prior to bringing him home, we had to have an pediatrician appointment scheduled for him. We scheduled with Dr. Black, which was a gamble because we had never met him. Thankfully, Dr. Black was very attentive, caring and reassuring! He truly put our fears at ease and was always available if we ever had any concerns! He really cares about his patients! We are so grateful we chose him as our son's pediatrician. Our guy is now a year old and he interacts very well with Dr. Black! We highly recommend him to anyone searching for a pediatrician! We also love the nurses (especially Sarah) and the check in staff. This office is truly a pleasure, which I feel is exceptionally rare for a doctor's office:)

I would def recommend this place! The staff was professional and helpful, and Dr Black is very good with kids. I was never there before but I called to see if they accept new patients and they were able to get me in that very morning.

Dr. Black is a wonderful Pediatrician. He is extremely knowledgeable as well as funny. He makes my children comfortable to go to the doctor as well as making me comfortable that my children's health is in good hands. Your not rushed out of the office and your concerns are heard and addressed; a rare find in physicians today. The front office staff are very polite and professional as well. I would highly recommend over any other family practice or pediatric office around.

I am a sahm of 5. First time at this facility and it was a great experience! Dr. Black actually listened to me and carefully considered every aspect of the health scare we were going though with my 7 month old. He referred him to a specialist and gave me great advice to care for his specific health needs. The check in/out process was fast, nurses were helpful, plus I was able to get an appointment that fit our schedule! Looking forward to using Dr. Black as our pediatrician.
