After getting a job in the State College area, it was hard for me to find an open apartment that is a reasonable price due to State College having Penn State. An Vairo Village agent reached out to me to let me know about open units, and guided me through the entire process of applying for my first apartment. I'm excited to stay at Vairo Village and feel very welcomed!

So far as a resident of Vairo Village, one of the perks that I did not expect to be the best part was the service I have received from the maintenance department. I wasn't anticipating needing much interaction with maintenance department, but I'm happy to say that the experiences have been great. Their services are timely, professional, and they leave their work area clean.

DON'T COME HERE! L
There always bugs and bees inside the building. I frequently seen centipedes on the wall any seasons except winter. When I moved into this apartment there was bees lived inside of a wall seam outside of my bedroom. Also, those bees And bugs comes from nowhere! All my Windows and doors were closed. You might sleep with a spider or any kinds of bugs, cuz they climb up on your beds!
SAVE YOUR LIFE! DONT COME!
In addition, check your water heater every day! There might be water leaking, cuz it's old and the maintenance just put some tape to stop the leaking. My luxury was all ruined by that.

Honestly the place is a really nice place to live as long as you’re actually listening & reading the rules that they mention to you - which aren’t hard to follow. The staff I feel do actually listen to you when you have a problem, any maintenance issues we’ve had have been dealt with in a timely manner, & overall the neighbors are lovely!

I hope this review will help to whoever trying to find home.
With one sentence this is not the place.

My experience is tragic in this apartment complex. I have lived in different apartment complexes but never experienced that much of a fraud.
They basically renewed my lease without my signature and I did find out about it at the end. Usually apartment complexes are trying to reach out to you for renewal 2 months ago before and if they can't hear from you they will go ahead and assume you will not renew your apartment. Obviously it is opposite in Vairo.

They also claim that they sent me an e mail about it. I checked and it did go to 'updates' folder in gmail which average user receives +100 updates daily basis. Never got an e mail as a primary. Once I told about that agent said 'I don't even have that folder in my gmail'

What a poor job, what a shameless way to deal with problem.

So I have to pay 2 months rent in the middle of February. I am not sure what kind of company running this but very poor job guys.

So far, my experience at this apartment complex has been tragic, to say the least. From the carpentry, the electrical wiring to the plumbing I have encountered multiple issues. Light constantly flicker even after changing bulbs. The floors are slanted where you can not have shelving in certain areas or everything will fall off. I am in an updated unit and none of the kitchen cabinetry doors would shut until I adjusted the setting screws. Dish washer door would not close either. Maintenance had to bend the metal on a brand new unit. Only been here since October and have already had two major water leaks.

Noise is so bad. If you live on the bottom floor good luck because the walls are paper thin. And if you put in a noise complaint there is truly nothing done to resolve the sounds. Overpriced for the quality of apartment and living.

I love living here. The office staff are very helpful. The building I live in is peaceful. My apartment was very clean when I moved in.

They will charge fees every Avenue possible. This is a partial list of charges for after move out cleaning. They will assess $180 to clean the carpet per your lease and then charge these exceptionally high amounts for basic things like cleaning a bathtub ($125). I’ve been a renter for 15+ years and never seen anything like this

I realize that not everybody has had similar experience as me, but here it is:

For my very first time living alone getting my own apartment was very scary; but the leasing agent who helped me was very informative and helpful (Zakiya). I did take a bit of a chance on this place because Im from California and visiting wasn’t an option. I like that my particular apartment includes all utilities in the rent (gas, water, electricity) so I don’t have to worry about getting multiple bills; so convenient to have it this way. I also pay a yearly amenity fee of $300 to cover pool, gym, cable (the cable isn’t amazing tho), internet (pretty good). Also, I pay $20 for trash valet which I don’t really need but might come in handy whenever I start school and get busy. Also expect to pay a $10 admin fee every month, so don’t let that surprise you. It’s a very clean property and close to grocery stores and shopping centers so that’s very convenient. When ever I have a question, I always go in person to the office and the leasing agents are always there and ready to answer questions. I never email because I enjoy the in person interactions, so I can’t really say much to that extent. And when I can, I do like going to Zakiya for my questions because she’s so nice and friendly. It’s also pretty close to Penn States arboretum which is a plus.

In all, it’s been one week living here and I’m still discovering things, so please keep that in mind.
Im giving this review 4 stars because my experience has not withstood the test of time. I would be happy to come back after this year to give updates.

First off, I would like to say that if you are a Penn State Student looking for off campus housing, do not stay at Vairo Village. The rent is unbelievable high for poor quality apartments, honestly you could probably do better. Each month rent increases with charges that they apply to your account. Also, thoroughly read the lease before signing, unlike other apartment complexes around state college, this one has set an automatic renewal lease policy that cost well over $2,000 to terminate. Overall, this was a bad experience as a first time leasing tenant, the apartment complex is insensitive to the needs & concerns of students. However, if you are an older adult, looking for a quiet place to live, this may be a good option for you.

P. S.associates and management can sometimes come off as rude when speaking with tenants.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and the apartment I am leasing is in good condition! Vairo Village is in a great location with a lot of restaurants and stores close by.

I had a great experience with Vairo village! They always answer my questions in a timely manner and explain things well so I know what I am getting up front. I would definitely recommend reaching out to them if you are looking for a place to live!

I really enjoy living here! The leasing office staff are friendly & knowledgeable, the neighbors are kind, & the location is close enough to downtown where it’s only a quick drive but also far away enough where you don’t really get the noise. Overall a very lovely place to live!

I have had a wonderful experience with Vairo Village. The front office staff have been very helpful. They were especially accommodating when i wanted to move to a larger apt after only moving in a month earlier. The maintenance team has also been great and have been able to help me in a timely manner. The complex is never rowdy and always maintains a nice quiet environment.

I have been here for over 3.5 years and it is not tolerable. Rent keeps increasing with management quality being very bad. I recommend that you look for other places. The valley, the view, the heights, etc. I have a deluxe single bedroom apartment, and the amenities and everything cost around 200-300 which is a lot, totaling to about 1200. There will be a lot of maintenance because the apartments are not properly maintained. Just so many inconveniences, I am only here because I have put in so much money. Please take this into account when choosing your next housing.

I'm not generally one to write reviews but I felt this is something other people need to know before renting. Make sure you correspond everyrhing through email and have everything entirely written out. If something changes from what they told you then you'll have no grounds to that if it's not written. I was super excited to live here based off information given face to face with a leasing consultant and signed a lease with that information in mind, but because it was never recorded via email they are going back on it. I even reached out to management, letting them know the situation and they told me the same thing, because it wasn't written out through email then it can't be upheld.
Honestly, all the best to anyone who plans to live here, the apartments are decent (at least for a broke college student) but I am positive I will not be renewing my lease.

I am living in the Vairo Apartments for the last 9 months. I am not a person who writes reviews, but this has been a headache, and made me very stressed.
I thought my electricity bill has always been higher than what I have used. Things became crazy this January when I received a bill of $90 when I was out of the country for the entire month. I reached out to the management, who said I am receiving estimated readings. When I demanded to get the last "actual" readings on my meter, they send me the bill of December. The bill says my readings in December were "22339" which became "24***" in January bill. Interestingly my meter only reads "22279" in late February, which is lower than the "actual" readings in December. The management (Whitney) will not do anything at all, and they do not have any of my previous electricity bills. I have told them that I also never received any hard copies of my bills either. All my trials with the management have been futile. When I tried talking to Whitney, the first thing she said "We can't do anything, you have to pay the bill". FYI I had paid the bill even before I called them, I wanted resolution to my problem.

Edits 03/09/2020: I did reach out several times, and was informed they can do nothing other than waiting. I am well aware about what has been written in the leasing documents. Nowhere it mentions that you can't provide me with the bills that I asked for multiple times.
