VCA Smoketown Animal Hospital reviews
17We took one of my leopard geckos here because she refused to eat, and the exotics specialist basically told me I was doing everything wrong and told me to make all of these changes, none of which helped the situation, only made it worse to the point of where she had to be rehomed because the things they suggested never got to the root of the problem and only added on top of it. Later I took a different gecko to them because he was having issues (which we later figured out were caused by the changes they recommended to the environment) and they told us his shedding was stuck and that ointment would make it go away. It only got worse and worse until we took him to another vet who told us it was most likely an infection but due to how close it was to his eye they could not lance it to be sure. They did the best they could to help him but shortly after this he died. This could have been prevented if this vet actually got to the root of the issues that we had.
Dr. Bates is very compassionate with needs of our senior dog Mr. Bones. Love her explaining his care plan and time at visit. Love that they accept Care Credit too for furbaby emergencies.
The vet was very understanding and helpful in working around my budget, amazing staff. Everyone was super friendly
All of the employees from the front desk to the Vet Dr. Ruso were fabulous. They made us feel welcomed and loved our rescue as their own!
My experience as been great. Dr. Shellenburger is great with my dog. Friendly staff and clean facility.
Staff is super friendly and helpful. They take excellent care of all the fur babies that come through their doors.
A little pricy but well worth it. Clean exam rooms. Compassionate and caring staff. Have been going there practically forever.
I just wanna say this vet has been so nice to us. She dealt with Ajax from the beginning he was a rescue. A loving amazing dog. We never wished to put him down. He was not so great with leaving me for the vet they always came out and let me be there with him so they could check him. They have been amazing for our other two as well. But this card made us cry she wrote in it and it was heartfelt. I know the reviews online for this place are all over the place but it really made us feel better about what happened and taking OUR PETS to THEM. Even the process of that day. They are amazing and really truly care.
Didn't seem like they considered my ponies eye issue too urgent, vet seemed unconcerned, got the idea he wasn't interested in treating her
When I called they made a Appointment right away. They were wonderful on the phone. When my husband took our baby Schotz they were kind and told him everything. All of the people there were great.
The staff was very nice and they got us in fast. Unfortunately, they are also the most expensive I found. Pros and cons
Took my cat for follow up blood work after a weekend at pets er. For liver failure.this was wed am.after a bill of
$ 388 for an office Visit of $75 the remaining was bloodwork. I only asked to have his liver level checked. $299! Pets was less expensive and much better service and compassion. I was supposed to get the blood work results next day.here it is Friday. I call for results.you have to speak the the dr.he'll be back in the office Tuesday. Tuesday! My cat was in the pet emergency for liver failure! I NEEDED TO KNOW IF THE NUMBERS WERE CONTINUING TO DROP BACK DOWN! WHAT IF THEY INCREASED? SO I SPENT $388 DOLLARS FOR WHAT? ?
We have a westie who is ten and a half years old and has been a patient under Dr. Shellenberger and his staff at VCA hospital in Smoketown, PA since he was 14 weeks old. We've relied on Dr. Shellenberger and his staff's compassion and expertise for years and they have always performed flawlessly. Now on top of all their hard work and dedication, they have been added the burden of dealing with the pandemic Covid-19 and all that comes with owning a business in these times. The protocol and steps that Dr. Shellenberger has taken to keep everyone (customers and staff) safe has been nothing short of amazing. He and his staff deserve a lifetime of gratitude from all of us because they are trying to save our lives. Thank you Dr. Shellenberger and staff for all your hard work and devotion to our pets and to us all. We are lucky to have each and every one of you at VCA Smoketown. God bless you all. Gratefully yours, Ellen, Hans and (patient) Samuel Henry Hansen.
Have been a client for 16+ years. Was sad to see some of my favorite vets move on, but I always trust all of the team at smoketown with the care of my pups and drive over 30 miles to see them!
I've been taking my cat here since he was a kitten, 4 years ago. The staff is very nice, they love all animals. Even ones as difficult as mine can be.
Very kind. Practicing social distancing by doing curbside service for appointments. I really appreciate that!
Vet friendly and professional staff that will spend time with you. I feel the rates are noticibly higher than another local vet I use. Smoketown seems to provide better customer service, and is better for newer-intermediate experience pet owners.
