Vernick Food & Drink reviews
19 Vernick’s cooking style is chic minimalism: “simple” unfussy dishes with flawless technical execution. Every little detail feels just right. Above all, the food’s so delicious that you’ll savor each bite.
The service was thoughtful and welcoming. The waitstaff spent a lot of time to guide me through the menu, highlighting the popular and the “signature” dishes.
I’ve become a huge fan of the Vernick brand. Too many restaurants charge more for worse experiences. Vernick’s pricing seems fair for such consistently delicious and skillfully made food. It easily passes the most important test: do I look forward to dining here again? Absolutely yes! I’m practically guaranteed a wonderful dining experience.
Went to Vernick for a celebration dinner. The food is very good quality, but the "mains" are laughable and pathetic portions. I got the chanterelle with halibut and I'm not kidding you there were 1.5 1cm chanterelles. That's besides the fact that the "main" was barely a 4oz piece of halibut sitting in a basic, small amount of broth with a few kernels of corn and the 1.5 tiny chanterelles.
Absolutely lackluster and miniscule "main" that made the whole thing just feel like a mistake. I went in there knowing that this was a $250 dinner without drinks and expected to at least be satisfied by one of the main dishes and the highest $$$ item ordered.
Overpriced and don't expect some celebration of mushrooms if you see it in the name. It's called ordering "find the mushroom".
Excellent service. Good quality ingredients. Would otherwise have been setting up a return reservation, but don't waste a special night with Vernick Food and Drink.
Vegetarian perspective
I still dream about the corn ravioli! I could have eaten a giant bowl of them. Got a lot of vegetarian options on the menu to split and was happy to see that there were a good amount of options. Only feedback I have is about the artichoke. I love getting whole artichoke when in California and this was the first time I've seen it on a menu here, so decided to try it. I won't get it again from here, it was boiled and just kind of blah. Everything else was so yummy though, including dessert!
Great food, great service. Summer eating small plates-lots of excellent choices. Blueberry pie with ice cream, enough to share. Good wine list. Red so good we bought a bottle to take home from vernick wine store next store. Lively bar scene with full menu.
Excellent food, sauces are exceptional. Service is friendly and efficient as well as helpful. Waiter gave us perfect wine suggestion, even bought a bottle to take home. Atmosphere is a bit sparse and tired. Also some items are pricey. Will go again.
Had a tremendous meal the other night that took my breath away. The bolognese, the scallops, the pork chop and the halibut were all amazing. Cannot wait to return. Excellent service with a smile as well.
Awesome food and service. From the amuse bouche to the bourbon chocolate ice cream desert it was amazing flavors. A definitely comeback to restaurant. Worth the hype and price.
Overall everything was good and food was delicious. I was a little bit disappointed on sea urchins dish. I wanted a fresh sea urchin taste, but it tasted plain. Also, the bread of Blanca fromage was burnt too much and it was a totally black.
Outstanding restaurant with creative dishes and flavors. The mushrooms with eggplant and lavender are a must try! I discovered today that I need more crab broth in my life because the halibut with asparagus and morels in crab broth was perfect! The banana, peanut butter, dark chocolate ice cream cone dessert is not to be missed.
Fabulous! Want a special evening with a special person! Great food. Great service. Great menu. Great atmosphere.
Went for our wedding anniversary and sat at the kitchen viewing station. Friendly service, tasty food, enjoyable atmosphere. We enjoyed it and definitely intend to return.
Haven't dined at Vernick in years since I moved out of Philly. Stopped in on a quick trip to the city before hopping on a train and, yup. The food is still fantastic. Just wish I had time to try their new tasting menu. Love seeing great restaurants grow.
Rather dissapointing. The halibut was so salty and not hot when served. When told, they said it will be remade/redone but infact we had the same piece of fish back so we asked them whether if it was reheated or remade. We were told that the broth was remade but the fish was reheated. Its dissapointing that they do not redo their dish upon their mistake but modify it further which makes it worse.
Excellent food and attentive service, particularly their unique pastas or veggie dishes. Layout is a bit tight, so hope for friendly/quiet table neighbors.
It's been a few years since enjoying the great hospitality of Vernick Food and Drink and the current team did not disappoint. The tenderloin tartar, smoked salmon toast, sea urchin and off menu special of soft shell crab truly delightful. For mains ‐ Bison strip, sea bass with fried crispy potatoes, grilled asparagus, roasted carrots. Still as spectacular as the first time over 5 years ago. Well done Chef!
Great food, awful service, terrible drinks. Come here to sit at your table for half an hour before you're permitted to order some (excellent) small plates. Order a cocktail and receive a glass of unadulterated well liquor. But hey, amuse-bouche!
Edit 04/2023, still amazing 5 years later. Service still top notch, food was delicious as the times before
Amazing food, attentive service, solid drinks. Reservations highly suggested
My favorite place in Philly, I have been here multiple times and every single time was a dream. Thank you for all the wonderful and unique dishes and flavors.
Excellent food! The pictures are showing sea urchin scramble egg, scallops on toast burg super fresh! Fire roasted prawns and crab spicy spaghetti are small plates,
All good to share and we wrapped up and roasted half chicken, so juicy that comes with some
Roasted vegetables. The only slight criticism is we had a long lag waiting for the final two dishes to
come. Definitely share and eat more!
