Vernie's Soul Food Inc, Philadelphia PA

The food was DELICIOUS considering that they didn't have a couple of items I REALLY REALLY wanted but what I did get was GOOD.

I settled for Tilapia and wasn't too disappointed. Drove over 30 minutes with two specific items in mind and was told they weren't ready yet. Every pic is shown with cornbread but wasn't offered nor was it ready. Got there almost 2pm and several entrees weren't "ready yet.

They say support black own business. But it's hard as hell, when they are ghetto and unpleasant, unprofessional! It was my first time and my last time. It was a screaming match in the kitchen. I ordered a large platter, but got a small with bearly any food in it. After waiting a half-hour and Watching the employees fix their food to go. Just stuffing their platters with food. I asked, how long would it be. The employee stated, oh! My bad, we forgot! She stated that we should have gotten there earlier. It was truly the worst Restaurant experience that, I every had. Do you your self a favor! Please spend your hard earned money with someone that will Appreciate you supporting them.

I called to order food, was rushed off the phone and didn’t even get a price. I called back and asked how much my food was and a man said “I’m not sure how much it’s gonna be it’s busy in here” I said “so are you saying I can’t get a total for my food? ” And he said “no not right now” like what? So unprofessional. I would’ve even been patient if they said hold on a moment…this what happens when you try to support black owned businesses

I try to refrain from giving black business low ratings but she earned this one! RUDE! Just rude! I’ll take Popeyes instead.

Food was good, service was nice. But they have more than what the menu displays. So ask for an item you want if you don't see it on the menu. And the prices are reasonable. I do recommend and I will return

Warning, their ad touts baked fish, but as I sat waiting in the "restaurant", I heard the clerk asking if the order was ready. A "chef" answered that they were putting it in the microwave.

Since I was not paying for Chef Mic, I cancelled the order. No return visits necessary.

I been looking for the best soul food joint around Philly and haven’t found one yet! ‍️ Y’all Mac & cheese was hard as a rock… and those my boi are not candie yams and them greens fish was iight…I think this is my confirmation to open a true CHICAGO/MICHIGAN Soul food place and show y’all what soul food is foreal

The food is good but whoever answers those telephones 99% of the time are HORRIBLE.if this is supposed to be a family run organization why doesn't someone train each individual proper telephone etiquette? Its not that complicated or diffiucult
Black businesses already have a stigma & stereotype to overcome as it is

When I first went to Vernice’s the food was ok this time it seems that the Turkey Wings was half done the cornbread was burnt. I’m done look at your food before you leave.

Catering order of 25 wings was perfect. The same recipe Everytime, every wing, I love the food and my guest did too. Vernie for the win!

Love Ms. Vernie's potato salad. Wish she would make more. Food is delish and well prepared. Come along way to get her food.

I should’ve took a before picture but anyways. I haven’t had their food in over 10 years and to my surprise it tasted amazing. I got two small platters for less that $25. So I suggest if you want quantity get a large. I was super upset when I tore up my one piece of fish. I will definitely go back. Turkey wings, basa, string beans, yams, Mac and cheese was good.

The food is very good, don't change the quality of there food and the amount that they serve, especially when it comes to the large chicken leg platters. The first platter I got 3 legs and the second time, I only received 2 paid the same price for the large platter. But the food is extremely good.

Were not practicing wearing masks appropriately, some under chin, some under nose, some not at all. I asked those that didn’t have masks where were they as they were scaring me. My order was wrong and did not discover it until after I left.so I stated can I have the wrong order as well. No answer, not even a piece of cake. Waited for my Oder to be recooked. Food is delicious and nice family business, just a few important pointers need to be worked out and perhaps an online ordering system along with a website is needed.

I told my kids.lets order something different. We haven't had soul food in a while and I heard of Vernie's. The food was disgusting. The Mac and cheese had a weird after taste.yams were terrible.greens were okay. The best thing was the fried chicken. The tilapia was fried well but lacked everything else. Do not waste your money, you will be so mad. If people think this food is good, y'all tripping and has never had really good soul food.

Most of the time they do not answer the phone. I have watched them ignore the phone and they rarely even say Thank you. Decent food put the customer service is terrible.
