Villa Jardin Fleuri, Bushkill PA

Location is great but the house itself is underwhelming. While most of the inside has been redone, the property is in desperate need of some basic maintenance. The stairs to enter the property are a lawsuit waiting to happen, they are falling apart and not safe. The hedges and weeds outside the property are overgrown and the metal gates on the garage doors had me very leery to even enter, it looked abandoned.

Basic amenities like towels, washclothes, and linens were lacking, most of the dishes in the cabinets were dirty, the oven is tiny and was very dirty, and the whole house smelled musty like there was water damage somewhere in the house. The pool table is very old and on its last leg, the basketball game was also bent and broken, and the couches in the game room were dirty. Cobwebs and bugs everywhere! I don't know who is responsible for the cleaning here but they could use some help. The idea of the Italian/french theme was nice but the layout was odd and poorly placed furniture made for a lot of wasted space.

Outside, the sauna was dirty, the swing chair was laid out on the ground and broken, and the pool was filled with leaves. Maintenance closet for the pool house was open with hazardous materials accessible to children. This place may have been nice when they first started but it is in desperate need of some TLC.

Words can’t describe how amazing our experience was. I stayed here for a week with my girlfriends and everything exceeded all of our expectations! The amenities were great, every room was sparkling clean, everything you would want was provided and even more, and the owners were accommodating and answered all of our questions very quickly! Without a doubt would come back within a heartbeat with a large group. You shouldn’t just come here, you should run while it’s still available.

If you’re looking for a “luxurious 5-star resort” vacation home, as advertised, this is NOT the place. Although most of the inside of the house has been redone, it is poorly appointed, in desperate need of basic maintenance and the amenity decisions leave a lot to be desired.

An inconvenience is that you must drive your garbage down the mountain to dispose it in a dumpster, which means having to compromise the cleanliness of your car each day. In addition, the game room was dirty and although I let the owner know about it, she did not send the cleaning crew to clean it properly for us. Speaking of the underwhelming game room, the pool table is quite old and deteriorating, and the foosball table and hoop-like game are as low-budget as they could be.

There are also safety issues in the villa, included very slippery steps in the pool, cracked and broken cement steps leading up the house along with a wobbly bannister that is about to fall off. This made bringing our suitcases and groceries into the house burdensome and dangerous. The house does have a nice pool, but the jacuzzi was dirty and we did not use it. We also had to worry about the broken door to a storage room behind the pool house because it was open and hanging on one hinge, which exposed old chemicals and pool supplies that were in the room.

In addition, on our first night in the house we were attacked by bugs that were coming inside, including one found in my granddaughter’s bed, and we couldn’t figure out how so many outdoor bugs got in the house. While my sons spent a few hours killing the critters that had infested the house, one of them noticed that the weather seal on the patio door was badly deteriorated. He had to tape it up the gaping hole with paper towels and scotch tape so that we could stop the infestation of the woodsy bugs.

Be leery of the reviews you read on the owner's website. I also wrote an honest review there, but it was not published.

Stayed here for a long weekend with my family. What an amazing way to escape the insanity of “real life”. The property is even more beautiful than the pictures depict (if you can believe it). The host is super responsive and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone.
