Village Square Apartments located in Bensalem, PA reviews
25Had a wonderful time living here and only moved because it was too far from work. Never had a problem with parking, you could hear people in other apartments but no more than in any other complex, and the staff were always professional and accommodating. Only thing I didn't like was they cut the trees down outside my window so my view changed from beautiful trees to a busy street road. Not the end of the world, just a small disappointment.
I've lived here for 5 years and I've enjoyed every minute of it. It's safe, clean, and the management is fantastic. I'd recommend to anyone.
Never have I rented anywhere that automatically renews your lease without consent if you do not respond to a paper letter only left at your door that can be easily misplaced. Very overpriced average apartment with terribly below average office staff. Maintenance is probably the best thing they have going for them. Office staff should learn some lessons from them. They try to charge you a bunch of fees for just about anything if you don’t they’ll threaten to take you to court. They reduced my termination fee (two months of rent due to automatic lease renewal) in half (one month of rent) due those impacted by COVID-19 which we paid and are saying we still owe a termination fee or it will be sent to collections and sent to court. It makes no sense. Our security deposit did not reflect on our account anywhere either. RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE! If you value yourself STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND ANY OTHER RENT BERGER PROPERTIES! My new place is 1000X better In every way wish I would have found it sooner to avoid a disastrous year at Village Square!
I lived here for about 3 years. My takeaway
1. Parking is HORRIBLE unless you get home around 5pm
2. Electric bill is terrible. The bill goes through EMS. I travel for work, so one month when I wasn't even home my bill was still high. They told me that all units were prorated ata base payment of $60 and it went up from there. Central air, but summers the air isn't powerful enough to cool efficiently. It's either a lack of
3. Bugs abound. Centipedes, for sure, but my bf, who rented another unit, got bedbugs from the neighbor below who had an infestation.they crawled up to the second floor.complex took over a month to resolve this and that was a NIGHTMARE.
Been having a lot of problems lately here. Air condition and heat doesn’t work well especially during a heat wave. Submitted maintenance requests and it hasn’t improved any of it. Whenever we reach out to the corporate maintenance office they are extremely rude and have a bad attitude. Took them a week to come out for the maintenance on our A/C. Landscapers are never out to keep the grass looking nice. As soon as we moved in everything seemed to be fine but as we’ve been here for awhile everything keeps adding up and we’ve realized how this isn’t a great place to live.
Very expensive for small apt.
Also, if you bring a guest or two to the pool, they charge $5.00 per person! No wonder the pool area is not crowded!
Be careful with these people. If you ask them how much notice to give before leaving they say they need a 60 day notice. But your lease says 90 days. So when you try to give a notice they say there's a termination fee because you were automatically renewed for another year since you didn't give a 90 day notice. Doesn't matter that for weeks you left voicemails trying to get in contact with someone in the office. They say they'll call you back and then dont.
We lived here in the mid 90's and it's clear not much has changed. One of the worst experiences of my life. The bugs (cockroaches and centipedes) were so bad that I used to stay at work as long as I could stand it so that I didn't have to go home. Bringing in an exterminator didn't help. We got the hell out as soon as we could save enough money for a downpayment on a house.
Do not, do not, I repeat do not live here. DO NOT LIVE HERE. It’s unsafe, insects are crawling all over the place. I paid more to have the upgraded unit but it makes no difference, expect to make a call to maintenance once a week because something or the other is broken. The electric bill is outrageous. Overall this place is too expensive for what they have to offer. Save your money and look elsewhere.
Absolutely beautiful. Very quiet and clean area. Great place to raise a family. They have a gym and a pool. It's really nice. I would definitely move there if I could afford it.
Was gonna go sign my lease today but HELL NO! After the reviews on here im running for my life. I feel so bad for the current tenants here, future tenants RUN! It’s noway someone electric should be $350 when your barely home throughout the day. I’m looking elsewhere. Thanks to these wonderful reviewers. Keep it going until they make a change. You guys need to grab some bullhorns and protest.
Management recently change, but wile we was there it was a mess.they couldn't keep their promises, maintenance dep. SUCKS AND they will get you every time with their extremely high electrical price.we use to travel all the time and it was only me and my wife leaving in the apartment and I can't remember 1 month that I didn't pay over 150 in electrical not to mention the months where we paid more than 200 in electrical only.never had a worst experience.
I like this place it could be better in insulating the one bedroom close to the outside it is always cold the electric in the winter is enormous for a 2 bedroom apartment shouldn't cost you 400 dollars for the winter I know friends that have houses and cost them less then what I pay there should be a lot of improvements.
Wow, they do not care about you AT ALL once you move in. Expect every complaint to be met with a shrug and a 'call maintainance. '
Moved in one week ago, ONE WEEK, and have had to call for repairs on.
Shower - fixed
Deadbolt - still broken after being 'fixed'
Dishwasher - fixed
Clothes Washer - still broken after being 'fixed'
Mail Box Key - they gave me the wrong one, still waiting for the ability to check my mail
AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!
It's a quiet place but make sure you get an upgraded apartment or make sure everything works in the "as is" apartment. I had to have the air conditioning fixed, a few times. The heat didn't work and the dishwasher didn't work. Also, the electric bill is can get out of hand since everything in the apartment is electric. I liked that it was dog friendly. It's not a bad place, it can just be a little expensive.
Did not rent here. Selected another property just because of the location of that being close to my workplace. Very good apartments. The amenities area (Gym and Swimming pool) are quite spacious. Only negative is that apartments lacks Patio/Balcony.
Recently under new Owners & Management from Local Family Business. After years of neglect local family business purchased property and has been doing amazing improvements from inside apartments to the surrounding outdoor areas.
In my opinion the staff are racist. The ladies in the office copped a attitude when I started asking more questions about the complex and maintenance when I first moved in. They answered as if I don't belong here and said something like "We're better than other places you probably lived". Racist and ignorant both. Funny though that they look at people like trash but yet don't even take care of trash pickup how they should, disgusting place overall.
Things are defenetly changing now with the new management, but ever since we move in it has been a problem get everything.thanks god they just switch to PECO because that EMS system they had was ripping people off! Crazy! The only person that anyone can trust in this place was July in the GYM
Balcony in apts are not maintained. Injured my door on one of the wood planks in a balcony in an apt as it was not nailed down.
