My care was top notch. All the staff was trustworthy and caring.

I loved that a resident cat lives here. Her name is Ginger.

I took one star off because the food was not great. The other reason I took a star off because my roommate and several other residents needed round-the-clock supervision. During the day these residents sat in front of the nurses station under artificial light with no window to look out. I felt this greatly affected my roommate by disrupting her circadian rhythm.

The residents who live here are very social and I enjoyed getting to know them.

Edit: Discharge was less than satisfactory. Never received the in-home help I was promised.

The staff is lovely. I gave 3 stars because the communication with family is poor. We call and do not get a call back. It’s difficult when your family member is not a good communicator and rely on staff to provide updates.

My brother's daughter was married today. Wayne Center set up an iPad on a stand so that we could see the Pittsburg wedding live via FaceTime. They helped my brother feel special.

We visited our cousin at the Wayne Center today and were impressed from first encounter til exit. With a highly advanced check in system, it reflects an attempt at health safety. Staff were accommodating and located eating utensils and plate for our impromptu request. THANK YOU!

The staff was very nice, and the nurse at the front desk Kelly was phenomenal. She was very helpful, courteous, and definitely a bright spot in the day!

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS FACILITY! My father was found unresponsive five days after he arrived at Wayne Center and died at Bryn Mawr Hospital less than two days later as a result of the consequences of septic shock, i.e. Infection. The ICU nurse described his catheter as filled with pus and blood. We had been trying to reach my father by phone for more than four hours before someone finally noticed he was unresponsive. Though I had left a message for a social worker the Friday before questioning their transportation costs and the static on my father's phone, I still have not received a return call or condolences. This facility is either understaffed, incompetent, or both. We had a much better experience at Rosewood Gardens Rehab in Broomall and the staff at Lankenau Center were top notch. STAY AWAY FROM WAYNE CENTER!

My sister has both legs broken by a hit and run driver. She was transfered here from an aesthetically beautiful rehab center. You can't judge a book by its cover. Wayne Center may not be as new or as "fancy " as the previous rehab but the level of care she has received can't be compared. Her progress has been helped along in many ways in Wayne's facility. The previous place, she was left to basically fend for herself days after she had surgery to rebuild the bottom half of her legs.nurses left her alone for hours.calls were left ignored.pain meds came.whenever.just all around neglect. Wayne Center has been a place of progress for her. Her revovery is expected to take some time and she has a long road ahead but being at Wayne Center has kept her on track.

We are so happy with Wayne Center! The nursing staff are knowledgeable and caring, and they are always attentive, kind with the residents, and kind to visiting family/friends too. There is community there, with everyone from staff making us all feel welcome to visit at any time, to families pitching in to help each other and visit each other's relatives too. From the resident perspective, my mother has made friends and has a community now that she didn't have living independently. From the visitor perspective, I love going there to see her, not just because of her, but because I know I'm going to see other residents / families I've come to feel fond of and we will all be there for each other.

As for medical / personal care, there are relatively few long-term residents and nurses and aides are always around to help with the bathroom and with all other needs. My mother has always had excellent access to the medical staff, who are quite good and loving. I trust them completely. And then there are the front-of-house and business staff, who are also incredibly kind and good at what they do!

Interestingly, while this is a small center with only two floors and without a super-swank interior, and while it is a Medicare/Medicaid facility, I find that the medical care, attentiveness, food quality, and the loving nature of the medical staff from physicians to aides are superior to the very expensive home that my mother-in-law was in. My mother-in-law may have had a private apartment with a kitchenette and walk-in closet while my mother shares a room, but my mother-in-law's facility was extremely short-staffed and there were times she would have to wait upwards of 2 hours just to get help going to the bathroom. By then she would have had an accident and then she would be scolded for making things harder on the staff. Staff were snippy and unwilling to spend even a moment talking with us about her, and there was pretty much no community of which to speak. Residents and families did not know each other, no one was available to help out or chat, it could take days to chase anyone down for medical opinions, the food was so bad my mother-in-law would end up starving herself to avoid it (and she was never a picky eater), and overall the vibe there was one of isolation and lack of caring.

My advice: if at all possible, wait for a room at the Wayne Center for your loved one. You will feel so, so much better having them there than anywhere else. The Wayne Center does not have a restaurant/hotel feel, it is small and not very fancy. But it does have people who are genuinely loving and devoted to the residents, who take the time to sit and talk with them. It does have all the comforts of home. It does have community and there is always laughter and talk among the residents, rather than wailing and begging to be allowed to go back home. It has everything I had hoped for for my mom, and that is the best thing ever!
