WellSpan York Hospital Emergency Department

I went in on Sunday thinking I may have had a mini stroke. The hospital staff was quick, caring and responsive. I could not have asked for better care from start to finish. Thank you!

You go to the emergency room seeking help and he’s really funny see all nurses and CNA playing with the phones and if a patient ask a question they answer back with a rude attitude is one of the worst places ever to go in York, Pennsylvania. If you feel bad for any reason, try to go somewhere else because going there, you will never get the help you looking for, I was about to take pictures of the nurses playing with the phone, but I don’t want to have any trouble with security

Aug 28,2023 unbelievable the doctors tell you to take your own medication when you are in the emergency room

You sent me home on Monday with an infection in my leg. No blood work no nothing. Then on Tuesday it worse. So I came back like you told me to and guess what had us waiting for 4.5 hrs although I was just there Monday and you can clearly see how it is now! I went to to my family doctor today just so he could update my chart and to see if he can get me in a room. This guy’s recommendation was UPMC smh. I didn’t come there for that answer. Anyway he put the request I get down there moral of the story it was gonna be 4hr smh. Nawww in antibiotic and you guys just allowed this to get worse. Sucks your Nurse didn’t know why I got ultrasound sound for. She tells me it’s to check for infection I said what? No y’all are checking for blood clots. Which I never have. I only came looking IV antibiotics. These Orel pills don’t work. Help!

The worst emergency room I visited in 64 years of live. The staff move with the speed of snails. I came here with excruciating abdominal pain. Knowing how merciless they are (from a previous experience when I waited 6 hours before I was told I am around half the list) I asked about the wait time. They rehearsed the “I don’t know, ambulances with cardiac arrests are coming in the back”, but after insisting they told the wait is 1,5 hours. I’ve been here over one hour. I understand that money is good, but look for a job where you do not interact with people in pain. I wonder how many people died under your lack of care. Shame!

Worse hospital ever. Been waiting for 4 hours for a high blood sugar and haven’t been called back to a room. This place sucks.

What a mess of a place! No privacy whatsoever. Vitals are taken in the waiting room, you aren’t put into a room until all modalities needed are complete. My boyfriend had a time sensitive issue and probably could have lost a body part if it was worst case scenario because he waited two hours for an ultrasound! When we eventually got a room in the ER, it was quiet and empty. Why aren’t there hallway beds if the waiting room is full? Some people need a bed to feel more comfortable. I saw kids who needed stitches who waited 3 or more hours! I’d try UPMC if there is ever a next time we need an ER! Advice is to go somewhere else!

I’m so thankful to the whole staff that was working Today May 21c specially Dr. Koch, Stacey at the entrance, I was seeing due to a knee shot that went wrong and I found nothing but kindness, professionalism and answer to my concerns. God bless you for making a difference in my perspective of how I see the medical staff in York Pa after having a bad experience on Friday. -

Went in yesterday for pain in lower right side. All they did was a urine test. Their own results show I have a kidney infection (a bad one). They didn't prescribe me even antibiotics. They told me to alternate Motrin and Tylenol which won't help the problem. Told me to move around more as it's a muscle issue, despite lidocaine and Motrin not helping.

Checked my urine analysis on their site and saw my WBC was more than 4 times the max it should be. Asked my friend who is a nurse to look. She said it's an infection and from location, kidney. Asked her husband, a doctor. He was baffled that if they even saw my WBC why no antibiotics was called in. Been trying to do as they say and the pain is horrible (even though I never asked for pain meds nor ever do).

When I came in, there were 5 others in the waiting room (as it was 5am). They saw me rather quick, or at least put me in a room. No other test done. If they saw the results, they never bothered calling in a simple antibiotic, as the doctor said my WBC was off before having me leave but not that insanely high (average is 3-6.mine was 30). Have tried calling 3 times for that to be done (antibiotics) or even to file a complaint. No response.

Sadly, this is the second worse emergency room I've ever been to. Both were in PA.

45 minutes and no one would help me.i walked out!

My late mother was a 45 year RN!
She Cared more then all of Welspan Combined!

Told them the oxygen they put me on relieved all my breathing problems of 2 years. "We are gonna unhook your oxygen and suggest getting a referral for pulmonology. "

Back to suffocating for me!

They're all beholden to money and beaurocracy.

Took my daughter to the er, she had a small beanbag bead in her ear. Dr. Putnam was amazing! He was confident and had an awesome personality that easily calmed my daughters fears (after having a not so good experience at urgent care she was terrified) He sucked the small bead right out and sent us on our way. From arriving to the er to checking out was less than 45 minutes! I don't usually leave reviews but Dr. Putnam definitely deserves to be praised! Thank you!

Giving them a 3 star because most of the nursing staff are great. Doctors don't communicate with each other for the best care of the patient. Doctors waste your time and money like they own a corporation instead of helping and providing patient care. I am sickened by this Hospital and their policies.

Look, no one wants to go to the ER, but this was by far and away the best ER experience I have had. Everyone was prompt and personable. They took me seriously, asked lots of questions, and heavily involved me in my plan of care. They didn't make assumptions about what the problem could be and were thorough about exploring the possibilities. In 3.5 hours, I was seen, had blood work, had a CT scan, got a treatment plan, and got meds. Far better than prior experiences at other ERs waiting 5 hours just to be seen.

We were in and out quickly and the nurses were cleaning after each patient was taken care of. Excellent experience.
