1. The internet is absolutely trash and there are no ethernet ports on the first floor.
2. The laundry machines are constantly broken.
3. The staff also has a tendency to try to charge you money for anything they can, and they have no regard for your privacy.

Westside Village Apartments are in poor condition and very overpriced. Do not live here.

If you ever need something from the office, ask for Karina, she’s awesome! Plus, Jerry -one of the maintenance guys- is a true professional!

I absolutely love this apartment. Out of all my years here, this year has been my favorite since I’ve been living in West Side Village. I have so much space, the people are friendly, and my apartment couldn’t be more charming! Absolutely recommend.

Westside Village is overall a great place to rent from. They are very accommodating and make it easy to setup leases. For a college student looking for a place in downtown State College, it hard to find a better renting company than Westside Village.

If i could leave zero stars i would. This company is taking advantage of college students and adding imaginary and frivolous charges to the rent. They claim everything is the tenants fault when there a maintenance problem. Service is poor, the maintenance is unresponsive, and they charge for unnecessary work so they don't have to refund any security deposit. Would never recommend!

Had entire apartment professionally cleaned but they still took $500 from our security deposit for cleaning. Another $300 for something about a light bulb and a 9v battery, didn’t give a better explanation than that.

Disclaimer: This is a review of my experience dealing with Westside Village Apartments before move-in and during move-in. This is not meant to hurt the company, but simply to provide a perspective of my personal experience so that future tenants know what to expect and encourage the company to improve its business operations.

Before Move-In:

When touring a two bedroom furnished apartment, I asked them if the apartment rent was going to increase in the following year because I was looking for a place that I can stay in until I graduate. They claimed that the rent would not increase, encouraging me to sign a lease soon. After signing the lease, weeks later, I then discovered that the rent would increase the following year from $1200 to $2200 from their website. So they did not even consider calling me themselves to let me know that the rent was going to rise by $1000. I felt misled.

The apartment was furnished with 5 twin beds and 5 drawers in the bedrooms (3 beds/3 drawers in bedroom A, 2 beds/2 drawers in bedroom B). Before signing the lease, they claimed that excess furniture would be moved because my roommate and I only needed 2 beds and 2 drawers. After signing the lease, I called to request the excess furniture be removed, and then they said they won't be moving any furniture, and that it would be up to my own efforts and expenses to move and store any furniture. Again, another feeling of misleading.

During Move-in:

I just moved in a few days ago, and this was my experience.

They did not have a ready key for my apartment. They made me 5 keys to access my apartment, and none of them worked, so I had to keep going back and forth. They had to escort me with a master key to let me in, they then needed to call a locksmith to come in and change my lock or create a new key. This was unprofessional to say the least, discouraging and annoying at most.

Then I discovered the dining table and chairs were also missing despite being told they would provide it, only to find out their maintenance person or whoever was supposed to have it installed, had quit, and part of their apology was "unfortunately he left us so so we're sorry we can't fire him" like firing a worker during a pandemic was going to fix everything.

Other miscellaneous things that just added to an uncomfortable move-in:

The furniture and heaters were dusty and needed cleaning. The carpet floor needed vacuuming, and vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms are peeling from the edges of the room. There was also uneven flooring in the living room, going into the kitchen, that caused me to drop a box of plates during move-in.

Altogether, the apartment is nice, but the management is questionable at best. It is somewhat similar to buying a nice car, but finding out the dealership has sub-par services at high costs.

This message is meant to help Westside Village improve some obvious problems in providing services and issues of overpromising without knowing what they are capable of delivering. This message is also meant for prospective tenants as a warning that you MUST be diligent in your questions, and you MUST have anything they promise to be put on paper and signed by all involved parties. Their website has misleading information at worst or incorrect details at best, so from one current tenant to another future tenant, be careful when interacting with them.

As more problems arise, more review updates will be posted.

I never write reviews on these sites, but this was necessary. I lived in one of the apartment buildings last year and it was okay up until the end of the our lease. Mind you, one of my roommates had to PERSONALLY clean mold out of both of our bathrooms, plus our floors were soft meaning that they were caving in (before officially moving in). They handled money very poorly (they lost my roommates check for her rent and had no explanation for it), which became no shocker when we were over charged for cleaning fees. At the end of the school year, all of the roommates had moved out and THREE different groups came in up until August 1st cleaning the apartment to make it spotless. We were charged a ridiculous amount and all they gave us was an itemized list that was BLACKED OUT so we could not see the items that were cleaned. It is unfortunate that they have had so many staffing changes, but their residents and customers should be their priority. Never again.
