Whipple Dam State Park reviews
17Love this place. It's usually not crowded and the beaches are nice. Great fishing, trout, bass and pickerel can be found here. Bring your kayak.
Remote, clean and a great place to unplug and relax. Also Friends of the Parks are sponsoring events throughout the summer. Bands, seminars etc. Greatly appreciate their time and effort. Not only here but other local parks as well. Whipple is more of a private, small party place. Not really set up for large events in my opinion. Picnic tables, old school adjustable height grills, and I believe 2 pavilions on either side of lake. We take teenage girls with friends to the beach at dam. Mtn beach days. Spring fed lake with sandy clean beach. Old stone walls and history all over. There's a great trail around lake. It's challenging but make able in my opinion for all levels. Plan accordingly. Great place to start a mtb/gvx ride. Your close to alot of the legendary single track and gravel road rides. Way less traffic than other parks in area.
Lovely park to enjoy all seasons! You can walk over ice in the dead of winter, or paddle on your kayak and bbq in summer. There are spots for picknicking and the beach opens up for the summer period, turning the park into a lively place. There is a walking trail as well
Because of severe thunderstorm went through we got pelted with hail and rain and it was pretty damn awesome
Lovely spot for hiking. The dam is pretty. Great place to stop for a lovely views and picture taking. I understand boat rentals are also available.
No crowds. Beautiful water. It is a small park but great for a nice walk on the trails. Was quite wet on the low trail by the creek, but it was a wet week. Beach and swimming area looked nice but we didn't swim so can't say what it is like as you go out a little. I recommend visiting.
It's a great place for an extreme hike if that's the type of hiking you enjoy. Great scenic view at some area; natural water falls I'd say throughout the park. You'd love this place.
There is a beach area and swimming. Fishing also. Can even rent canoes. No boat motors allowed in the water. Has restrooms too.
I think more care goes into Greenwood furnace couple miles down the road. Little more could be done here but still a very nice park to visit.
Beautiful and peaceful, yet not too far of a drive from State College. The only thing I didn't like about it was the long walk up to the old outhouses, but they are more in the process of building new ones right in the parking area.
There is only one hiking trail, which was somewhat disappointing to us, because we are avid hikers. However it is a beautiful area. The dam creates a space to fish, kayak, and swim. There are plenty of picnic tables and charcoal grills for a picnic.
One of the best places to see in central Pennsylvania especially in the middle of the winter when there would be no one here.
Great park with a lake in the middle of the woods. The northern shore has a great vantage point to enjoy the view or to fish from. The southern shore has a beach that many people enjoy relaxing on. There are picnic tables scattered around the lake. This place is fantastic to enjoy whether you are by yourself or a large group.
Small, but lovely State Park with a lake nestled amidst the mountains. A 3 mile trail circumnavigates the lake, following the crystal clear feeder stream and then rising above it. Picnic tables and shelters can be found within the park, particularly around the lake area - which also has a beach. Restrooms can be found on both sides of the lake.
You get to feel like you're at the beach but you just drove 15 minutes out of town, it's awesome
Nice little swimming and picnic area. Good to kayak or paddle board in small area. See little turtles on logs as you paddle around.
