White Dog Cafe reviews
20Love a good cocktail. Had the McGruff Manhattan. Made with local Bluecoat gin Everything we got was delicious. Burger, soup and mushroom gratin. Gotta love dogs to eat here?
I have been here two times and The White Dog Cafe is by far one of the most wonderfully strange restaurant I have ever been to. First off the entire atmosphere is dog themed in a way that is elegant and tasteful. I really like the different dog themed rooms especially the wine cellar with doggie portraits that look like generals. The service is always amazing. So courteous and professional. The food is also very well cooked and I really like the seasonality of the menu to leverage in season foods. The White Dog Cafe is always a treat and I can't wait to return.
If you are a dog lover this place is a must.
Came here for brunch after the Philly marathon, pretty busy. Make sure you make reservations. Fresh food and good dishes! Blood mary was delicious
White Dog Cafe is a pretty fancy place close to the heart of the University of Pennsylvania campus. It is no surprise that a lot of patrons are from the university. Many departments regularly take their distinguished visitors for lunch there. And with a good reason: the food is consistently good and servers are attentive and friendly. On the flip side, the restaurant is always busy at lunch time and sometimes service gets a bit slow. It is not cheap, either - but totally worth it, in my opinion. Every item on the menu I have tried was delicious and specials are always pleasant surprises
Cozy and warm. Every dish is tasty. Last time I ordered a rare-medium NY steak and it was so juicy and tasteful! Try also their cocktails!
The oysters and the pulled pork sandwich rocked! The beer selection was out of this world.
My boyfriend and I went here for the first time on Monday a week ago for a class assignment about farm to table restaurants, and the food was great, I loved the decor too. All around we enjoyed ourselves, and would highly recommend!
Very good food and quaint setting - it looks like they have many differently styled rooms in a mansion. We tried the lamb bolognese which was excellent, and the mushroom au gratin and brussel sprout sides were superb as well. The short rib was slightly cold but our server brought us another juicier hot portion. The service is wonderful and all the food we tried was well executed.
Dog lovers ️ this is your spot. Find your favorite pup on the wall. Food here is great drinks were on point.
About 20 to 25 a person for brunch
If you're going to pack diners in like sardines, you need to check vaccination cards. Food was delicious.
We had a lovely outdoor brunch at the White Dog Cafe. Everything was delicious! And even though it was super busy, the service was prompt and friendly and the food came out in a timely way. A really lovely way to end our visit to Philadelphia!
Great food! We loved coming here. The environment was amazing and all the paintings. They do have a bar, no more bottomless mimosas though! The food was really amazing the Devil Eggs and Vegan was life. The service was good but we felt it could improve but overall was a great experience. Shout out to The Manager GABBY for making sure we were satisfied with leadership and understanding. We will definitely come back!
I was quite underwhelmed. While the decor and service is nice, the plates are ridiculously overpriced for their size. We had the salmon entree and the farmer's choice, with the seasonal fall drinks.
Food was great and I loved the atmosphere. Servers were super friendly. Will Definitely be making a return trip.
It's worth 5 stars just to come in here and sit at a table and enjoy the eclectic environment. The excellent food and service are just the icing on the cake. Also, dogs. Dog decor everywhere. Go here, everyone should.
First the waitress spilled water by our table and left it there. We told another waitstaff after about 5minutes and he cleaned it up. We ordered our meal and the food wasn't very good. Went to the bathroom and a man had completely missed the toilet. Staff was notified while we stood in line near the kitchen waiting. Noone ever came while about 5-6 people waited to use the restrooms. The best thing I can say is it's decorated very well.
I understand restaurants being short staff. What I do not understand why the service has become so mediocre. Not only we waited for an hour for our food after We threatened to leave but also I had to argue with the waitress about a food allergy I have. No more White Dog for us! They made us feel like we were getting the food for free -unacceptable!
A must-go whenever visiting my son at University of Pennsylvania. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the unusual name, but we were pleasantly surprised by the charming atmosphere and farm to table food. Not only is the food delicious and unique, but the ambiance transports you to a whimsical, relaxing state of mind. The canine portraits are beautifully presented and really fun to peruse. And I am a cat person:)
Definitely try this restaurant!
Good service, average food, poor coffee. The building is beautiful and the location is great.
I Had A Terrible Experience Here. It Was My First Time, I Was In The Area Because Of A New Job & The Meeting Was So Quick I Decided To Grab Something To Eat Before Heading Home.
I Booked A 2pm Reservation Online, I Showed Up About 2 Minutes Early. I Was Seated Promptly At 2pm. However, I Sat For Over 15minutes Without So Much As Water (see photos). My server finally came to give me water and asked if I needed more time, after telling her I was ready because I had already waited 20minutes she took my order and when she came back she said due due to the wait I was getting a complimentary cheese *** (due to the loud music I thought she said cheese cake) but I was disappointed when it turned out to be a cheese plate.
I Ordered The Kennet Square Mushroom Soup, That Was The Best Thing They Served Me Besides The Mimosas & Ice Cream. For My Entree I Had The Kennett Square Omelette Which Was Super Bland But It Is An American Restaurant, They’re Not Really Known For Their Flavor. The Omelette Was Bland, The Potatoes Tasted Old Like They Had Been Sitting Out & Were Reheated & The Salad Had Too Many Welted Pieces For Me To Force Myself To Even Try. The Cheese Platter Was Alright, The Apple Slices Were Mushy So I Only Had One & The Rest Was Okay Besides The Seed Looking Paste But I’m Not Sure What All Was On The Plate.
For Desert I Had 1 Scoop Of Vanilla Ice Cream That Was Pretty Good.
Overall I Would Not Come Back But It Is In The Area Of My New Job & The Mimosas Were Pretty Good So I Might Come Back For Those & The Soup.
