White Dog Cafe Haverford

This was my first time at The White Dog Cafe and I enjoyed it very much! First let's talk about the staff. Welcoming, friendly and the very BEST customer service I've encountered in a very long time. That alone is a #1 reason for this 5 star review. Our server was attentive and amazing, a great representative of the restaurant. Now the food one word to describe everything. FRESH! From the oysters to the peach cobbler. I look forward to going back for dinner and happy hour in the coming weeks. If I could I would give them 10

This was my first time dinning here. Everything was absolutely delicious, from the water to the dessert. The atmosphere was very pleasant and comfortable. This is now one of my favorite places, definitely will be back.

Walked over from Haverford and was seated immediately upon arriving around 5: 30-40pm on a Tuesday evening. Plenty of tables inside and outside were free. Happy hour specials were good deals, but I opted for the steak udon salad as it stood out as an unique offering. Entreés were a bit on the pricey side, but the portions were more generous than at first meets the eye. The salad was tasty and more like a cold noodle dish with greens and veggies added in. The shared appetizers for the table were a bit too large for the outdoor tables with four people's mains on it as well, I would recommend a better workaround to the lack of table space for these situations. The flower beds were vibrant and nice to look at, but attracted a lot of flying bugs around them, and consequently, our food, though it never proved to be a real issue, just a mild annoyance. A very cute, upscale local eatery with a distinctive vision.

The blackened salmon tacos and tuna melt were delicious. The mocktails and non-alcoholic IPA were the perfect compliment to our meal, and the service was as warm as the weather. What a wonderful lunch.

Amazing food, whenever my family has a special occasion or just wants some good takeout this is the first place we think of! Whenever I come in the service is always amazing and the food is unbeatable. I’d highly recommend the cheese plate for anyone looking for a new appetiser to try.

OH Yummm - such a wonderful experience, which you can tell the minute you drive up. You can choose to do outdoor dining on a beautiful day - a private, quieter booth - etc. They have all the basic comfort foods - and add some truffle yumm to it - and you have a new fav place to go!

This is my second time at this location and each time I have been placed near the bathroom or in a small corner, while there are tons of seating elsewhere. I will never come to this location again the vibe is way off from the unicity location and for an older uppity crowd. The university city location is ten times better, the atmosphere and temperament here is very judgmental if you follow what I’m saying. If you are a brown person from the age of 20-35 do not come here. The menu and service are 100% better at University city.

Everything was outstanding! Drinks were good (and strong!). Apps and entrees were all super tasty. I had the ahi tuna sandwich and the tuna tartare, and they were delicious. I tried some of my wife's swordfish and fried pickles and would have been very happy with those too.

This is one of my favorite restaurants and the bar is warm and friendly. I go often for happy hour I really enjoy it. The restaurant is beautifully done and very comfortable. Marty, the owner really knows how to run restaurants. I've never had anything but exceptional food and service in this first class restaurant.

The last time I went was when it first opened, and I had a normal, average experience. The service was normal for a local restaurant, and the food was a little above average. However, I decided to come back with my two kids after two years. It was an absolutely amazing experience! It was all kid friendly and the food was great! I extremely recommend the burger and fries. Other local restaurants that I have been to have had burgers which break apart and are too dry, however, this burger is obviously very well-prepared. They also have a special sauce they put on the burger which makes it even better. The fries are also well above average and went great with the sauce that was provided with them. In addition to this, you can get the burger at a discount if you go during happy hour. I totally recommend anyone going to this restaurant, because the service and food is amazing, and it is very kid-friendly!

Stopped by here for a business networking lunch. I gave been to other White Dog Cafes (Wayne and Center City). This is very similar only with better parking and better seating. You cannot go wrong with the menu and the service was excellent!

One of the best White Dog locations. Menu more varied than some of the others, and more meticulously prepared. Bartenders are excellent & attentive. Go early if you want a seat, since they get crazy busy at times.

My girlfriend and I came in for lunch on a Saturday, and after going to the West Philly location, which we loved, all we can say is that this location was a huge disappointment. We arrived and were told that there was only bar seating, which was perfectly fine with us. However, the bartender was repeatedly snappy towards us at the simplest of request, like the menu. They were upset that we bothered them for asking for a menu even though we had been waiting to receive one for a while. Because of this, they rudely tossed one menu to share while all the other patrons at the bar had their own individual menu.

Now onto the food. We ordered two entrees, the waffles and the pork roll. They are each $15. The waffle is only one average size waffle maker sized waffle with a little butter and syrup, and the pork roll is a glorified Egg McMuffin. Extremely, disappointing to say the least. We could not believe the disparity between the locations. If you want to go to White Dog Café, it’s only worth going to the West Philly Location, which has great food, atmosphere, and service.

Half empty when we arrived. It took 20 minutes to seat us. Sat for another 10 before someone came to our table. After giving us water it took another 10 before the waiter came back to get our order. Then he told us they had just changed over the menus to dinner and we would have to look at other menus. Another 10 before a return to take our order. Serious problems with shift change. If someone would have helped us we could have ordered 25 minutes before from the brunch menus.

On Monday, March 14, I had lunch with two friends. The total amount on the bill was $81.67 which I paid with a credit card. I did not add a tip because I gave Hannah our server $20.00 in cash. On Tuesday, I checked my credit card online and the pending charge showed as $81.67. But on Wednesday, March 16, the posted charge showed as $101.67! I immediately called the White Dog and spoke with the Tiara, the manager. She said she would investigate and call me back which she did. She assured me that she would fix the problem but wasn't very clear as to how she was going to do it. On March 17th, I called two times and she said that it would take 5-7 days to resolve the problem which didn't seem right because if there is a credit posted to an account, it usually shows up within 24 hours of the posting. I called again on March 18th, spoke to Tiara who showered me with a million excuses, told me I should contact my bank, etc, but I said I would wait. On March 24th, still nothing so I called, spoke again to Tiara who asked me for my credit card number and said she would take care of it. Today is March 27th, and still no refund of $20.00. I would venture to say that this manger is totally incompetent and has no idea as to how to handle this situation. I am still waiting for my refund of $20.00 added to my credit card. Why is this so difficult? How does a restaurant have the ability to add whatever they like to a customer's bill? With the $20.00 cash I left Hannah, the added $20.00 on the bill would give her a gratuity of $40.00!
I am currently not in Philadelphia, but when I return, if I do not receive the $20.00 credit on my card, I will go physically to the White Dog and ask (demand) the refund. This manager has to be aware that I will continue until I receive my refund. I am posting this so that customers should make sure to check the amount on their bills and to not leave a cash gratuity. I have eaten many times at all three White Dog Cafes and have always enjoyed the meal, but this problem has really given me reason not to return, especially to Haverford. There are many other restaurants in the area that will certainly welcome my business.

I went to eat at this place for the 1st time. I had an blt with fries.
When I came home I felt crampy and bloated. I called the manager
to run this by him. He was so rude and disrespectful
I never have never experienced a manager be so unprofessional.
I would never waste my time going there again.

My reservation was at 1230 and we didn’t get seated until 105. It was pretty busy so I’m sure that was the reason there was a delay with being seat. I highly recommend reservations even if you might not be seated at your reservation time.

Also no more bottomless mimosas. We were kinda sad to findout that no longer was available because that’s the main reason we came.

I ordered the salmon tacos with truffle parm fries. My drink was a peach bellini. We were also give a comp cheese plate.

My salmon tacos were flavorful however I felt like more salmon could’ve been given for the price. The truffle fries were really good- crispy and you can taste the truffle and it complimented the yellow sauce

I usually frequent the Haverford location for takeout, but they’ve been slacking terribly, so I recently went in for dining and it was also terrible. Our food took forever while the restaurant was barely full. There were a ton of empty tables, but the bartender kept telling us “it’s the new computer system” and “the kitchen was backed up” we found that to be a lousy excuse. Iam fully aware of the usual experience from this restaurant, and Iam very unsatisfied. This was the worst $100 I’ve spent. Unacceptable! There was also no accommodation for today’s service, just a bunch of confused eyes, lousy kitchen and computer excuses. I’m not sure if the kitchen is short staff or there s a different chef, but there’s been a noticeable change within the past month. This is not ok. Iam afraid to recommend anyone to this location, until further notice.

Starting with the overall atmosphere and service we were very pleased. Food quality was on par but nothing exceptional for the prices. The perogies were delicious but only 4 small ones to a plate. Butternut squash ravioli was interesting with such a fresh topping it was different and tasty. The sides are large enough to share but barely for 2. Plus the mac and cheese was more pasta than cheese so I wouldn't actually recommend.

Excellent food! The whipped feta is delicious. My only complaint was that our main server was a little cold and inattentive to our table. Everyone else was very pleasant. Despite this, definitely go back again.
