3Parking area is closed to vehicles Friday through Monday from Memorial day through Labor day. This info is buried in the DCNR website. Additionally trails by the swimming/boat launch area enter an unmarked rifle range. One trail is along the berm behind the range.
This is one of the better spots in the area just to come and chill out, but it can be pretty packed occasionally. You’re not supposed to swim but a lot of people do, especially on hot days. If you want to get away from the crowd a little bit find the Cove Ridge Trail, which will bring you along the cove, almost to the main lake. You can do a nice 4 mile loop hike back here. Follow the white blazes.
One of the best trails I’ve been on in a while! Was stunning, very well marked, clean and quiet! Only saw a couple of people. Really enjoyed and will definitely be back.
