Wild Hand reviews
20My experiences here have been less than stellar. Be careful of the refund/credit policy. If you don’t give notice two weeks in advance of the class they don’t refund or give you an opportunity to take another class or a credit. I let them know as soon as I could-over a week before the class that I had a work obligation. They gave me a gift card for 50% of what I paid. They kept $70 of a $140 class! What a weird way to do business as I would have come back to use the credit for another class. They have my $70- and with this policy they can claim it-but big picture I think they’ve lost me as a customer and I spend a good deal of my disposable income on crafting.
Lost me as a customer. I have tried to support this local yarn store but I’ve had too many encounters with staff that are just exceptionally rude. This morning was a perfect example. I waited for the store to open, then waited another 10 minutes to find the door locked. The woman opened the door and yelled “give me a minute, I just got here! ” Not hello, thanks for coming, good morning. I turned to walk away and then she said I could wait inside. Sorry but the last thing I wanted to do at that point was purchase anything from your store. Yelling at your customers, cursing, demanding to know if they washed their hands as soon as they enter the store are just a few examples of what’s been said and how it’s been said.
Lovely boutique yarn shop, and super helpful to me as a beginner in fiber arts! I love the little kits as well and purchased one to gift as a holiday present.
Love this shop! Because I am remote I order online and everything is shipped and arrives quickly so I can begin another project.
Everytime I've been in the store it has been an absolute delight. I just took a beginners crochet class here and Yolanda was encouraging, knowledgeable and very kind.
Stopped in to buy a gift card for our daughter and they couldn't sell because their "WiFi" was down. No back up payment method. No free card reader on a cell phone. Just "come back another time". Ahh.no.
This was done all online. The owner was extremely helpful and sent me photos of the yarns that I could choose from for an Andrea Mowry cowl. She was very responsive to my questions, too. Nice knowing that there is an independent LYS in Philadelphia area as the 2 LYS stores near me have gone out of business in the past few years.
Wishing Wild Hand well!
My FAVE yarn store! Reasons:
1. Ambiance - Super cute Scandinavian style that really highlights the yarns
2. The PEOPLE! All the staff I’ve spoken with are amazing - so super helpful, friendly, and willing to answer the many, many questions I generally bring to them:)
3. The selection/quality of yarns - They carry some great brands at very reasonable prices and in a fabulous selection of colors.
4. Pricing - Very reasonable!
What a fun surprise to find this sweet little shop! I went there for a pop-up shop and immediately felt like I'd found a new home! Yolanda was so sweet and welcoming! The yarn there is gorgeous; there were too many colors to ooh and aah at in just one visit. I can't wait to go back!
The loveliest little fiber shop with a beautiful selection and knowledgeable, kind staff that understand the intersections of business and community. Support them!
My fave LYS in the city. As a bonus they have other fiber-related craft supplies (for weaving, spinning, embroidery, etc.)
Excellent community fiber arts store! Their selection of yarn isn’t always the largest because they carry so many items for so many different crafts, and it does tend to be on the more expensive side but it’s perfect for gift projects and the yarn is beautiful and soft. The community is awesome and staff are always warm, friendly, and ready to help me get out of whatever pickle I get into. They really add to the community!
I started shopping at Wild Hand at the beginning of the pandemic and immediately felt welcomed into a community of makers - even though I've never actually shopped there in person. They communicate through their emails, texts, and website as if we're friends of long standing. I love the quality of the products they carry. Delivery is prompt and every order has been packed with care. They feel like a local yarn store, even online. Love them!
I feel like I gotta update this review. Ive gone there a couple times since I've written the previous review and I've been converted. They are kind, welcoming, and don't make me feel intimidated. They helped me when I didn't buy enough yarn for a project and had to make an adjustment to save it and it turned out great, so, I'm now a Wild Hand super fan. Head over and check them out, do it right now.
I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Wild Hand in person (yet), but have ordered online and love the shop! Fabulous style! Fabulous yarns!
Wild Hand is the place to go. They have such fantastic taste in yarn and have such a well curated shop. The individuals who work there are so incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. Yolanda helped me pick out the right kind of yarn for my project and gave me some really awesome tips to get started. I can’t recommend this place enough! I will definitely be going back here for all my knitting projects from now on.
Absolutely amazing staff at this location! Yolanda and Theresa were amazing! I am new to amigurumi crocheting and they were extremely helpful with what I’m looking for. They also were just wonderfully kind!
I love this shop. They have an amazing selection of yarns that you don’t see anywhere else locally. They sell supplies for other crafts as well. The folks that work here are wonderful. It’s a joy just to sit and chat with them.
Liz was so helpful. The store is bright warm and friendly. I got exactly what I needed and ideas for future projects.
Absolutely adore this shop and try to visit every time I am in the Philly area. Lovely staff that help you feel right at home, and really great selection of yarns and fiber.
