Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority reviews
10You're here because you don't want to live on the street - not because it's enjoyable to live here. People keep smoking in the apartments when they're not suppose to and the smell seeps through. They knowingly let thieves stay here even when they get caught. The amount of people who get away with sneaking in is unbelievable and alarming since you don't know if any of them are dangerous. Not to mention, the rudeness of some staff. Most times they did checks, the pest guys were total jerks making inflammatory comments the whole time. Then the last time my apartment got checked by one of the male uppers, his behavior was inappropriate for no reason. Now I feel like I have to be out of my own home the next time I get checks done.
What is the need of having Section 8 here in Wilkes-Barre nun of the landlords here want to except the Section 8. Maybe it's because all the houses here was built in 1980 and the landlords are slums and just don't want to undate the apartments. It's really frustrating dealing with that
Plus the bad service at the office you can never here from the wokers message box always full. Then when you walk in the office they saying you can't see anyone because you need a appointment but you can't reach no one smh.
My significant other inquired about an application. She was told she had to return it in person! They were emphatic even though told we lived in the Fingerlakes and were PARAPLEGICS w co-morbidities! As a result, we are disinterested, and wonder if their order is even ADA compliant!
I agree with the other posts on here. This program is terrible and does not benefit the community at all. The employees here are complete trash. They dont even try to help tenants or landlords. You would think a tax paid program would choose better people to operate this program. St**e the boss over there is about as helpful as a bent shovel. These people receive issue or requests and then just brush them off. Its time to defund sec 8.
When calling the section 8 department, don't expect to speak with an actual person, even though they have a receptionist sitting there doing nothing (and getting paid for it)! And when you leave a message, they never call back! I had to call multiple times just to get someone's attention. And BTW, why do we need to make an appointment, which is also a difficult task! It's obvious the staff is not concerned about doing the job they signed up for! Here's an idea, get people who are actually willing to do what's necessary to help those in need!
I wish I could give it NO stars.neighbors are rude and always trying to get you evicted! High turnover rate for people on disability.sad! And management thinks their the bosses of your life!
The workers are incompetent to do the job. And the director thinks she is God. She was a worker turn manager and her position has gotten to her head. The need to revamp the whole department. New workers and management will make a great difference.
If your toilet backs up and need to use restroom down in lobby they lock doors every night. They should be open all the time. Worst building to retire since there's an empty community room with no activities available. Community room only has soda machine and tv. Pay rent and nothing to do all day, have too spend a lot of time outside.
The staff is rude and don’t ever answer, they need to hire people that are actually going to do their jobs and answer the phones.people rely on housing and the ladies that work there are a joke.
Iv been calling for a month about an appointment. Iv had the worker Paulette for housing answer and tell me she got my message and is going to call me back after her lunch she didn't and iv been calling for two weeks straight while also leaving messages. Now her mailbox is full and cant accept anymore go figure.
