14Nice easy "hike"/walk. Very pretty and quiet. There isn't any of the hotel left, but if you go looking for it you will run into a creepy, little shack that looks like it has squatters living in it. Wish they'd tear it down. Also, if you leave the main trail watch out for rat snakes.
The drive up was nice. Not much for parking at the trail. The gates were closed and was fortunate to park in between some cars there. I opted to go on the gravel road and walk up to witches hat that way. Very cool to see it while walking up but other than that, not much to look at. Power lines and gravel roads.
Very cool spot.but absolutely not worth the hike! When they say stay on the trail they mean it for a reason. Climbed up and over the mountain, fell several times, and landed in sticker bushes. Rocky terrain if you go off the trail. That'll teach me to take the longer route. If you park where the GPS takes you, you can walk up and around the trail for about a 20 minute hike up. Don't try the short cut, it's super dangerous.
Not really a hike (depending on where you start), not much of a view when you get there. Seats on a powerline maintenance road that's right in front of it (kind of ruins it?).
The place was somewhat clean but still dirty enough to take away from the natural experience for me.
Didn't find anything interesting there. Will not go out of my way to see it.
The GPS took us to a service road that says not to block the gate. We parked there and didn't block the gate obviously. Take the trail behind the gate, keep going up to the service tower to around the service tower until you get to a fork in the road take the middle path that leads up. The trail is light path a few rocks here and there but easily avoided. Lots of spiders though so there is that. Please respect the land and wildlife and do not leave behind garbage and graffiti.
Beautiful but unfortunately most of the trails were covered in broken glass it seemed very unsafe/unpleasant for the kids and dogs
Awesome place! It took a lil bit 2 find it but not bad at all. Very peaceful, and beautiful atmosphere
I loved it here! If you follow the trail, it takes a little longer, about 3 minutes past the peace rock, I climbed straight up the side of the hill & i got to Witchs Hat waaaay quicker than the rest of the group that followed the trail. It is a amazing site plus we seen gorgeous deer out there.
Great spot, interesting structure with a nice view and can see the Pagoda on the other mountain. Too bad people are defacing and doing graffiti there. During my visit, some ppl said, excuse me we're about to do some graffiti on this structure. Strange and the scent of the fumes made me have to leave. I thought graffiti on nature was inappropriate and rude but this was just as bad, selfish and disrespectful. Anyways, still worth the hike to get here. Beautiful wildflowers were in bloom.
It's a awesome little place to sight see. I did not follow the trail tho. Once you start the trail I walked maybe 5 minutes, then climbed straight up the side of the trail/min. Its super easy and quicker
I've been coming up here for 15 or more years. I grew up around this area and it was a hangout spot.some beautiful sights of reading up here with on on top of a cliff with the pagoda in sight
A small hike to the top. Parking is very limited, but you can park 1 or 2 cars in the turn near the gate.
Awesome spot with amazing views of Reading and surrounding areas. Short but steep hike up the powerline and your there. Connects to the Neversink trail system. Beautiful adjacent climbable rock face.
Amazing hike up to the witch's hat this morning just before the rain came in. So quiet and peaceful. A wonderful view of the pagoda as well!
