We were their for a wedding otherwise I would have changed hotels. Avoid this one at all costs! I was excited when we got there, the lobby looked so nice and the staff was wonderful, and food was good which is the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one. I would have given it negative stars if I could. The lobby and ballroom is where the niceties stop. Once we got up to our room, it was another story. The furniture was chipped and worn down, the sliding door to the bathroom was heavy and noisy, bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, everything was old and very outdated. The worst part was the bathroom, it was so dirty and gross, not sure the last time it was cleaned! The bottom of the glass was moldy, mold was also on the inside tiles, the showerhead was dirty and full of lime scale, just what you want when traveling with a toddler. My parents were in the connecting room and there was long black hairs in the bathtub and on the walls. It was nasty. I did complain and they offered to clean or move us. Since we already unpacked after a long flight I opted for clean, which they did do promptly. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel to stay at downtown.

I’ll start with the two good things. 1). Location was great. 2) shower provided nice strong supply of water. Unfortunately, that’s about it for positive experience. You could tell it used to be a very nice hotel. The worst thing was the cleanliness. We got there early so they were still cleaning rooms. My room was cleaned ok. There is a musky smell, I guess because it’s so old? It was 60 degrees in the room when I entered; I’m guessing to help cover the odor? The corridor to the room was dirty. All the way from the elevator. I assumed it was a rough weekend and they just hadn’t cleaned/vacuumed yet. However, that corridor never got vacuumed the entire week I was there. I actually videoed it to send to my friends because I was shocked at how bad it was. I’m guessing the general manager never walks the hotel or spot checks to see what the guests might see. Or maybe they just don’t have a vacuum cleaner? They were hosting two conferences at the same time (mine being one of them) and they were not equipped/staffed to do so. You had a 30 to 40 minute wait in the Starbucks line, if you were lucky! They had very few advertised food items. Your only other choice was the $18 breakfast buffet. They did let you purchase coffee from the restaurant sometimes to help. There was a crazy long wait for elevators because they don’t have enough elevators for the number of people going to or leaving a conference. I had waited for a long time and missed 5 elevators because they were full so I looked for stairs (even though I had to go to the 12th floor). The only stairs I could find were going down one flight. So I went down to the lobby and asked the receptionist where the stairs were. She didn’t know. She directed me to the bell hop. He said stairs are for emergency use only so he wasn’t allowed to tell me where they were? That was the craziest thing I ever heard in my life! So if I had an emergency, I guess I was just SOL. The conference rooms were FREEZING. I enjoyed my conference but not the hotel. I would never stay there if I didn’t have to, but I HAD to because of my job.

The location is great if you want to walk around downtown! The staff was also very professional nice. The rooms are in DESPERATE need of a deep clean and some updating. There are always some noise at hotels but the walls are really paper thin and you can hear your neighbors on every side. There was mold in the shower and the room really looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a week. Disappointed in the room, especially for the price.

Avoid this place at all costs!

Pros: you have to use a room key to access the elevator.

Cons: rundown, overpriced, poor service. Hotel maintenance is not high on their priority. I spent a 5 day business trip here, and did not receive housekeeping. Towels and dishes were allowed to sit in the hallway for days on end. Vacuuming of the hallway never occurred. Urine from an animal was allowed to sit on the elevator.

I requested maintenance on the bathroom sink clog, and HVAC. Both requests were ignored.

There is one Starbucks, with an average wait time of 30 minutes. At one point, a guest started making her own coffee. See pic below.

Guest room doors don’t close all the way. Walls are paper thin.

Stay anywhere but here.

Was very wary after reading some reviews after booking. Hotel had two weddings the day I checked in, overbooked the king rooms with city view but they were able to give me another room, double beds but we made it work. We got a corner room (2 windows meet in the corner plus a third window beside the bed) so the views were incredible with Highmark lit up out one window, PNC Park out another and the Highmark Stadium out the far right window. Did not experience any cleanliness issues other than maybe the caulking in the shower needing redone. Elevators were quick, pool and hottub were both great, has a bit of a view as well. Wallpaper in hallways was peeling.which definitely didn't have $300+ a night vibes. We booked for $109 so, what I got for that price was acceptable. Hotel Valet is $38 a day includes in and out whenever. Parking garages all over, Gateway Center across the street was most convenient, $10 for the night (4pm-7am)
Most garages/parking lots do run flat rate event pricing which is between $10-$20 during events. Street Parking is free downtown on Sundays!

My room was covered in mold and the desk refused to provide a new room. The mold is even growing in the pictures.

Before the trip I read several negative reviews about the Wyndham grand Pittsburgh related, primarily to the conditions of the room and the attitude of the staff. I almost cancelled the reservation, but did not. When we arrived and checked in the front desk, staff in the baggage check people were all friendly and courteous even though there was a large crowd all checking in at the same time. Our room wasn’t quite ready yet, as the housekeeping supervisor had not yet checked the room. After short wait we got into the room. While the wallpaper was dated, the room itself was clean and well stocked with pillows and linen. We even had a bar fridge, which was not on the list of amenities. Apparently not all rooms have a fridge, so it isn’t listed as being there. The comments about hearing noise from the next-door room did apply to our room, the sound leaks through the adjoining door. Luckily, our neighbours went to sleep about the same time we did. If we ever return to Pittsburgh, we would certainly consider staying at the Wyndham grand again.

Rooms are small and a bit dated, but location is very nice. Don’t valet, it’s all street, and absolute chaos. Bigger problem was coming back to find water all over the floor of my room, been calling guest services for 20 minutes and nobody has answered.

Bar staff rude and unwilling to adhere to committed extended hours. Management confirmed in writing bar would be open longer hours to accommodate guests from a rehearsal dinner and a wedding reception. Spoke with management on duty and the response was “the bartenders are union, we can’t do anything to meet the commitment. ” Hotel is dated, in need of an overhaul as well.

This hotel has an awesome view of the three rivers, but it is run down and neglected. The food is average to bad, the rooms are old, dirty and neglected. We did not venture out after dark because we did not feel safe. The meeting rooms are nice though and the temperature was perfect. The hotel does not look like the pictures on the website.

I am thankful that this is where we were stuck due to travel delays for Christmas. It is within walking distance to the Pittsburgh Steelers' stadium and some really cool restaurants. The service was great.

Very dated rooms and small bar. This hotel is in dire need of an overhaul. I would choose another hotel in downtown Pittsburgh.

I checked in September 15th my room had mold in two places and blood stain on sheet. I was given another room which was satisfactory but no one did anything for my inconvenience. The maids and manager had to check the room we left to see if there was mold but no one called me back. This was a expensive for two nights and I feel that we should have money off for our inconvenience. Also I left my makeup bag in the old room and was thrown out. They gave me a key to check the next morning and the room was rented out after I said there was mold. Disgusting should be ashamed. Manger said there wasn't any the desk told me. I took pictures too

Very old and smells old. The carpet is stained and rolling up down the hallways. The furniture and drapes are outdated with no USB options. We got stuck in the elevator where the call button would not work with little urgency to help get anyone out. There was a rat in the conference room. Can say it was the worst hotel I have ever been in. Only positive was it had a nice view and the ladies at the front desk are nice.

I will not stay here again I had to call to get security deposit back after two weeks and gave me the run around. I will be getting an attorney. Rooms are tiny. No blankets. No microwave. No refrigerator. Valet sucks. Never Never Again.

Would not recommend. The rooms smelled of mildew and wallpaper was peeling off walls. There was a dead bug in my bed so asked to be moved and my new room had old pink peeled nail polish on the floor. The staff was really nice and helpful it’s just a shame the place was not clean or comfortable. I will not stay here again.

This place is fine for what it is and the location is prime. But the main issue is the dated, small rooms. They are not super clean and the bathrooms are pretty beat up. Definitely needs a remodel soon.

The room smelled very musty. There was no refrigerator and the phone didn’t work. To top it off when I tried to get a morning shower there was no hot water

By far the worst Wyndham or really any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. First, the rooms smell old, look old, this whole hotel needs a facelift! The food was horrible and the only reason I stayed was because it was paid for by my company. You need to do better! I recommend you stay somewhere else

Nice hotel, didn’t realize there were two conventions happening while we were there so it was busy. Despite the conventions the room areas were very quiet. They have 5 elevators but only 2 were working the weekend we were there and there are no steps to get to the rooms so the wait for an elevator was a bit longer. There is a restaurant and a starbucks in the hotel which is convenient. The room was nice, clean, and had a view of the stadium. The only parking option at the hotel is the valet which got pretty busy and we initially missed it, there are a few parking garages around including was across from the hotel. Its in an extremely walkable area and the closest of the yellow bridges was the Roberto Clemente bridge which was under construction but the walk from the hotel to the Andy Warhol museum and PNC park using the Andy Warhol bridge was about 10-15mins.
