York Jewish Community Center reviews
14Clean, well equipped facility. Friendly staff. Excellent instructors. Well worth the membership cost.
The Jewish Community Center in York provides opportunities for many different activities. For individuals in many different age groups. It helps support the senior community in York with a senior center. It has swimming pool. It has areas for working out. The people there are very friendly and helpful. They're open 7 days a week. All in all a great Community Center.
Huge, clean facility! Great family environment. Child care is wonderful and the fitness center is the best I've been to in a long time.
Clean and friendly place to workout, take exercise classes and/or swimming classes. Easy access, no stairs, lighted parking area, clean restrooms
Experienced a great deep water aerobics class with Kristi Johnson. Thanks for starting my week off right. Excellent workout!
Find another room for activities jcc has boot camp birthday parties regular children's camp who messes up the court for people who are in there to play the two sports that should only be played in the gym which is basketball and volleyball. The jcc gym is a real problem they have 6 studios but do everything in the gym. Make the change!
The fitness room is good with a wide variety of equipment. The only problem for me is that the gymnasium is used by too many people. Unless you want to play basketball at 5 in the morning or 6 at night, there really aren't any more openings to just play basketball. Also the camps leave a lot of trash and liquids on the floor which ruins the court for people who come to play basketball.
My Daughter gets a bus right from her school to the JCC. For working parents who work until 5 or 6 this is the way to go. She can take youth fitness classes or swimming lessons while she’s here in that hour before I pick her up. What a great way to keep children busy and engaged after school. There is always something fun for her to do even if its playing outside in one of their many awesome playgrounds. I highly recommend the JCC!
Overall JCC has a lot to offer at their facility. They have a few things that are their weak points, as follows, which warrants them a 3 star rating.
1.) Their pool is outdated and feels a bit old an warn down.
2.) Their gym is used by too many people and is not open to play basketball at any time. They have a daycare service who use their gym, some fitness classes and they rent it out. They really need to find another room for these activities.
3.) Their weekend hours are limited. The gym is only open until 6: 30 on Friday and 5: 30 on Saturday. I find that to be unusual schedule for a gym and difficult to work around my schedule.
4.) A minor thing: They have an upstairs workout area with no airflow or fans. It gets crazy hot in this area when you are working out. They could easily add fans to control the temperature better.
I am currently a member, but these issues will cause me to look at other gyms in the future.
I have the worst private swimming lesson experience for my son at JCC.the instructor was rude and not flexible with scheduling private lesson timings.
I don't recommend private swimming lessons at JCC
Waste of money
Great health club. Wonderful service. Excellent classes all included in low monthly membership. Therapeutic pool!
Wonderful staff who cares about the kids and is talented at guiding them. It is evident the staff loves working here!
I've been going to the jcc for the better half of 2 years and have nothing but good things to say except for my experience today. Me and my friends were using the studio mainly used for cycling classes to work on wrestling like we very commonly do and the gentleman inside told us we could use it. A lady working there saw us and told us we could not being using the studio because it was closed till 3, we immediately cleaned what we were doing while the whole time she's asking us why we are inside when there's a sign on the door saying it was not too be used till 3. I explain that the gentleman who was with use who works there told us we could use it. She immediately singles me out because i try to explain what happen. She takes me from the group with another man who was with her (I believe the fitness director) and threatened to take my membership away because of the incident. I calmly tried to tell her why we were in there and she continued to talk down to me because she thinks I'm a child. This is not a way to treat your long term customers, but, I will always recommend this place.
