Ballard's, New Shoreham RI

Absolutely the best place to go especially on a day trip like we do. Steve the manager runs a tight ship and everything is always in place clean looks good the food is phenomenal and the beach is fantastic as well.

Great spot on the Old Harbor in Block Island. Make plans to visit and bring lots of friends. (Reserve spots on the ferry or take your boat if you have one). When the weather warms up, it is tough to beat. Great food, great views, lots to do.

Just went for a drink before last ferry out of the island. Ordered a Martini cocktail. It was average. Fries were good though.

If I could give this a negative star, I would. We came here on a quiet Friday before the season kicked off. Unfortunately, we were next to a party that included several women who were vomiting. We were sympathetic to her plight at 11am, knowing she likely arrived on the early ferry and could be seasick. HOWEVER. We watched her and what appeared to be a Ballard’s employee pile sand on top of her vomit around 12pm.

We decided to exit the beach and eat lunch on the patio as a way of avoiding the vomit party.

At 2pm, we returned to the beach to find the same party still vomiting on the beach. This time, she was forcing herself to be sick and you could hear her wrenching and watch her putting her fingers down her throat. We immediately called over our waitress (Che, who was fantastic) and asked to speak to a manager.

It took TWO HOURS to find a manager. We dragged our chairs further away but both of the groups surrounding us could also see and hear her. What’s more, Ballard’s continued to serve the party food and beverage while the woman was continuing to force herself to vomit in the sand, 360* around her chair.

The manager, Marco, was not only unsympathetic to the vomiting and delays but also utterly rude. He told us there was nothing that Ballard’s could do about this woman vomiting for hours on the beach around us. Could you not call a medical technician? Do you not understand that bodily fluids should not be spewed on a beach and others exposed?

I am not sure if she was seasick or having a bad reaction to a potent drug but I will never return to Ballard’s and recommend that everyone avoids — unless you’d like to dig your feet into the sand and a pile of someone else’s vomit.

We are finally leaving but to be clear, Ballard’s has done nothing to wash away her vomit, let alone disinfecting this area.

One of my most favorite places in New England! Take the ferry and enjoy the beach and day. Plenty in walking distance. Best for adults.

The food was just alright. They were so busy they didn't even come to our table for a while. We were starving, I just wished they gave us something like bread or peanuts to much on while we waited during busy hours. The server even returned the check with all the cash we paid still in it. He is very luck we are good natured people. Some people would have taken it. They need more servers to deal with peak hours. BUT the beach right being right there was so nice to have. It kept hte hungry children busy while we waited for our server.

Great waves at this beach! Easy to access by walking (parking's a bit difficult but you can find it on the street for a couple of hours), clean sand, convenient restrooms. There's usually live music in the summer, so you can be close to the band or farther down the beach if you don't want it to be too loud. Great for any age or family dynamic (we go with our tween kids and the grandparents). Rent a chair and an umbrella and stay all day.

This place is jamming! The live band playing was awesome and very entertaining. The bar is HUGE and the staff is super friendly. What an experience!

Seemed like a nice beach resort. My friends and I just stopped in for lunch, which was fine, but it was a bit of a cool day, so we didn't get to enjoy the full beachiness. But strictly for the food, it's typical American fare, with some decent seafood, but nothing to write home about.

Excellent food I had the 1/2 pound Lobster Roll with fries and it was incredible. Great service reasonable prices and a live band.

The wait was very short but it's only because there's so many tables for such a small area. I had to scooch in my chair every time the people behind us wanted to stand up. And don't expect to stay on a budget because the food is pricey.

A fun place for everyone. Large indoor bar and restaurant, plus outdoor patio for dining, plus outdoor tiki bars, bar area, live music, volleyball, beach area, beautiful views, boats, very popular and busy. And if you like people watching, this is the place.

A bit pricy but it is expected for the location and it's surrounding area. Drinks were quite tasty, food was alright, and the staff were friendly and professional.

As soon as we hopped off the ferry, we went straight to Ballard's. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I will most likely eat here again, and would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Beautiful beach side dining, friendly staff amd amazing food.the wait is a bit long but it is a fun relaxing atmosphere so it's completely bearable.

Fun summer place to go.wait staff bring food and drinks right to your beach chair! A little pricey but definitely fun.

Spent the day and loved it haven't been in 20 years. Beautiful beach and great restaurant. Only downside was the bar area got rowdy with lots who had a little too much to drink.
