Caleb & Broad, Newport RI

Was looking for a place to have a quick bite. Loved that they had plenty of creative small plate options. The beef tacos were unbelievable! The best dish I had in Newport. Vibe and drinks were great.

I’m a local here in town, but I always love stopping into Caleb & Broad. Especially, since the new chef has returned along with $12.00 entree Mondays! (This is how I met my husband on a Monday like this).

We split the “Chicken Parm Dip” to start. So so so good! I got the “Grilled Swordfish” as my entree and my husband got “Ribeye” it was so good - I even had a few bites.

Our waitress was so friendly and the owner is always welcoming. Hats off to the chef as well.

Honestly, we have been here a few times, and live in the area for the summer, but this place just can't get it right. Food is less than mediocre, the menu is odd, and the quality is substandard. I highly doubt we will be back for anything other than a bloody mary (top 5 in town). I am disappointed as I want it to workout.

I really wanted to try this place as I heard nothing but good things. Showed up for brunch with a small group and was seated right away as they weren’t to busy. Upon sitting down we had the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The waitress was extremely rude, when we asked about the menus she rolled her eyes took a deep breath and said we had to get them online. We figured maybe she was just having a bad day but proceeded to spill water over my friends napkin and utensils and just laughed as she walked away without apologizing. She then came back to take drinks with the same attitude as if we were a nuisance for showing up to her job. After we got the drinks we decided the service was just so bad we didn’t want to stick around and had to ask for the check after waiting around for more than a half hour. I really wanted to try this place but won’t be going back again because of the atrocious service.

The flatbread was delicious, but I don’t have a photo of it. Nice restaurant and our server was pleasant. Would definitely go back for lunch or dinner!

My husband and the couple that we dined with absolutely LOVED their meal. They had a Wasabi fish meal, and one had a short rib dish with pesto pasta that looked delicious. Unfortunately, I did not, but please let me explain, as it was not due to the lack of quality or portion size or anything else. I'm a VERY plain eater. When something tastes different, due to a special seasoning or spice, it's unpleasant. I ordered what i thought would have been a safe bet, fish and chips. My fish was a beautiful thick cut, light and flaky filet that was cooked perfectly. However, it was seasoned with some kind of citrus fruit either as a marinade or as a flavoring added to the batter. It left an aftertaste in my mouth that tasted like a kitchen cleaner, like how you would imagine Pinesol tasting. It was a disappointment to what would otherwise have been a beautiful meal. It was very bothersome because I couldn't force myself to eat it. The menu was very unique, and I can respect that, because you want to stand out and not be boring. I just feel that some things that are known to taste a certain way shouldn't be messed with.
The service was excellent and the dessert was delicious.just can't shake that fish dish.

A nice small place for a quick bite and some great drinks. Awesome waitress at the bar. She gave me great advice on what to order. Very clean restaurant and restroom. A few TV screens to watch sports.opening at 9 am for the st pats parade on Saturday the 12 th of march 2023. Be there to support local people.

Had a bite with my friend here a few days ago. Loved my Caleb burger and the drinks - tried Princess and Berry Spritz

My wife and I had another great dinner at C & B. I had steak caprese which was cooked to perfection and she had delicious fried chicken dinner. Service was excellent as always. Love the vibe in this place. Big booths surrounded by art displays on the walls from local artists. Some patrons ate at the bar which is not too loud. Monday entrees are $12! Highly recommend.
