Chennai Express - Indian Cuisine reviews
18So, I wouldn't say this is the best Indian place I have been too. But, it's up there in quality and Service. I have ordered multiple times in the last week and will make this a weekly stop for eating.
Super tasty food, great services; love to go again. Veghakka Noodles, Butter Naan, Chickentikka Masala, Samosa, Mango lassi was simply the best. Highly recommended to everyone surely you will not be disappointed.
Love the food here. Everything I've ordered from here has been superb. The chicken tikka masala, palak chicken, butter chicken are all amazing here. However, my favorite dish of all is no longer on the menu. I frequently ordered the tandoori chicken wings but I noticed that it's no longer on the menu as a separate dish. Please add this back to the menu if possible, it's a highlight. Overall though, great food!
Great Indian food especially good spicy and quality. I love this place. Staff are pretty friendly. I started visiting from last week and now it's my favorite go to place in Rhode Island.
Awesome food. Great service.

This is a really good Indian restaurant. The chicken 65 and chicken 555 were both really good. The chilli garlic naan paired with the chicken tikka masala was also a highlight. The Chennai special chicken biryani was also great. I asked for everything to be spicy, and the spice levels were perfect.
Chennai Express a wonderful place to order food and have a delightful meal. I recommend everyone to visit or order food. Try There Garlic Naan and Butter chicken.
We order from here practically every alternate weekend and the food is delicious, consistent and good value for the money. They have everything I could ask for in a restaurant. I’m overall a very happy customer and would highly recommend them to everyone.
They are great with catering orders too. We’ve had a few large parties catered by them and were very satisfied.
Stop eating from here after I found that they sell Halal food. Halal food means supporting terror.
By purchasing Halal certification means paying unknown entity and forcing non believers to eat and follow someone else religion. Thanks for reply.
First time here. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess who had us go upstairs for seating (but were told where the light switch was to turn it on). The biggest turn off was plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic forks and spoons and a paper napkin the thickness of nasal tissue. No heater in the room upstairs and the cold wind was definitely flowing into the room anytime the main door was opened.
Food was rather decent overall. Butter chicken is a definite recommended item. We also got goat biriyani, which was not too bad. The cardamom flavor was a bit more than needed. For the price charged the quantity didn't do justice. Prices on the web page are old and we were met with different prices once at the restaurant. Would we go back? Hmm.hit or miss. Not a bad place but not too amazing either.
Excellent hosting! Well greeted and seated with a smile. Food was amazing! Spice level of the food as expected. Naan (Indian Bread) just like Indian Naan. Kevin, the owner and Samiah, the Manager were very sweet. They recommended Chicken 555 and Tawa Fish as appetizers. It was so perfect! The ambience and the music added to it. Would definitely go back, and would suggest this as a must eat restaurant if you are in the Cranston review and even if not, it it worth taking a detour.
Vindaloo, vindaloo
It is burning on your tongue
Hotter than the desert sun
Vindaloo!
Vindaloo, vindaloo
Water will not do the trick
Mango lassie nice and thick
Vindaloo!
It's a tiny restaurant, 15 people can comfortably fit. The staircase to be seated upstairs is very narrow & scary.
Food is served in plastic plates, plastic silverware. Ambience is not good.
Food was okay but the quantity was less for the price charged.
I think more soda was added to the Biryani and made us uncomfortable for few hours after lunch.
The prices on their menu are way more than what you see on their website. It's not been updated.
This restaurant has been consistent in maintaining the taste of its dishes - so important when you order a dish because you liked it on an earlier occasion.
This is one of the few places that haven't succumbed to the temptation of modifying flavors to suit Caucasian/ non-Indian tastes in a bid to widen their clientele base.
The authentic South Indian flavors come through to tickle the palate of a homesick Indian in a far-off land.
I ordered Chicken 555, Goat Chettinad curry, and Hyderabadi Chicken curry. All outstanding in flavor, succulence and authenticity.
Rounding off the order were 2 Pooris, 3 Tandoori rotis and 2 Naans - which don't become rubbery when they cool. Now, how many restaurants can claim that as their USP?
Curry Portions are reasonable, each being good for 2 diners. Pricing too is reasonable -about $80
Solid Indian food. My girlfriend got the masala dosa, I got the mutton biryani. We split a samosa chaat and a madras coffee
BEST INDIAN FOOD IN RHODE ISLAND! If not, New England …. If not AMERICA! It’s freaking phenomenal! I love the Malai kofta so much I would marry it if I could. I have it once a week… if I could have it every day I would! Garlic naan is fantastic paired with any dish here! I just love love love Chennai! I’ve also tried Methi chaman and it was incredible! I need to try more dishes here but I just get so obsessed with the ones I love. 1000000/10 here at Chennai - give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed!
Couldnt give more lower than this else would have given you -10
1) water was served after half of the meal was completed and that too when asked
2) spoons were not cleaned they were given the same way the without cleaning after the people prior to me used it
3) orderd butter naan and there is hair in it.
Their biriyani, curries and dosas are good.
However their vada’s are frozen and appears to be microwaved so stay clear of that.
