Tammy the owner is extremely rude. My mom is handicapped and parked in a handicap spot there was nothing saying she couldn’t park there and she was upset about it. Then we are told we need to fill out an application just to view dogs so we did, we said we were looking for a puppy. After we look at the puppies next thing you know we’re told they don’t adopt out to children five and under which makes no sense. No thanks won’t be back here

Knowledgeable and helpful staff that cares deeply for the animals they are caring for and placing. We received excellent guidance and advice. The puppy we adopted received excellent care from her foster family (saints!) and skilled medical care from the EGAPL

I follow EGAPL socials and fall in love with each pet they feature. I knew when I was ready to adopt again, I would find my next forever with them. When I saw Moses’s photo, I got there as soon as I could. He was exactly as they described, anxious and shy and I loved him immediately. The process to adopt was quick and easy. I was approved in 2 days and was able to bring him home. Nicole was great to work with! I appreciate that Moses came with all his vaccines and follow up dose of flea/tick treatment/ and heart worm. He is a wonderful dog!

I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with EGAPL Heart of RI! My fiancé and I went in to a Saturday adoption event knowing we would love to add a rescue pup to our family, but unsure of how/where to start. We instantly fell in love with Beethoven (now Butters) and the entire adoption process was so smooth thanks to Nicole! Communication was wonderful, she was so patient, answered all of our questions, taught us so much along the way, too!
Butters is the best pup we could have ever wished for. He is adjusting SO well to his new home and we can't imagine life without him. Our hearts are so full!

We love Heart of RI. They were sooooo helpful and attentive to our needs, questions and requirements when we were adopting our pup from them in July (2022). The facility is a great one, full of well-cared-for (and adorable) future pets. That gave us a lot of comfort about adopting our guy — that his start ro life (as he spent his first 4 months of life there) was a good and loving one. We couldn’t be happier! Thank you, guys!

They clearly put animals needs first which may not be readily convenient for would-be owners and that's ok. The animals, their needs, their comfort, should come first. Nothing moves quickly. Traumatized animals require gentle handling and baby steps.

We have adopted both of our dogs from EGAPL and have had nothing but positive experiences! Each member of the staff here cares so much, you know from the moment you walk through the door that each animal is given the utmost attention.

Our 4 year old mixed breed loves the company of other dogs and we wanted to open our home up to another pup in need but also had to be sure we were the right family for our 2nd. Nicole, Tammy, Robin, and all of the volunteers we encountered wanted the same and were happy to accommodate our multiple request for meet and greets, play sessions, and answer every question we had. Our home now has two incredible dogs because of the love and care they provided!

Thank you to everyone at EGAPL for all you do!

We adopted 3 times from this organization. They are meticulous about each adoption to ensure that the right dog gets matched with their perfect home. I cannot recommend them enough!

Honestly they do an amazing job of screening potential adoptive parents. Many people just don’t get it. They just want the right home that will truly care for these sweet babies.

Just loving caring people who want to make sure they are sending these beautiful animals to a loving home. Their process is very detailed but worth everything if you truly want to save a precious pet. We just love our babies

This is a wonderful place with a devoted staff who really want you to find the right pet for you. I am so blessed that they introduced me to Evie. She has made my life better and I hope I'm making hers better too. I had no intention of adopting a young dog but they knew she'd be right for me.

2 years ago i adopted a dog from Heart of RI and when i tell you they were the best shelter and people i worked with that is not an understatement! I thankfully found my furry companion very quickly but in the short time i had worked with them they were amazing! I had spent months looking for a dog that would work with my life style and household.and shelter after shelter month after month i began to lose hope until i came across Heart of RI! I got very lucky with my puppy but even if things didn't work out they told me they were determined to work with me till they found me the perfect dog! That was the first i had heard that from anyone! They truly are amazing and care about not only their animals but the people coming into adopt! Such an amazing organization! Thank you for helping me find Maximus! (previously known as Budweiser)

Went to EGAPL to adopt a puppy, filled out an application, everything seemed to be going positively. Turns out, my application was refused because of a family dog we owned that was never neutered. I wrote back to them explaining this was a family pet from over 40 years ago, I was a child, and had no say in the matter. Also, neutering pets 40 yrs.ago, wasn’t a pressing issue, at least, not to my knowledge. In fact, wrote back to them twice. They never responded.
Regardless, ended up adopting a beautiful puppy from Anchor Paws Rescue for $100 less. Their loss was my gain.

Adopted 13 years ago from this great place and are so grateful. They really were great to work with and Tammy was especially thorough. Our dog is still the biggest joy to our family.
