Jimmy's Port Side reviews
19Everything is great here, but the last time I went I got the linguini with white clam sauce. OH MY GOODNESS it was so delicious you cannot get better anywhere! I'm a chef, so believe me.this place has great food.
I didn't like the way it was set up. You have to order then find a table & wait for some time. The food was expensive & not great.
Get there early to beat the really long lines. Food is good but the service at the counter can be very slow and the line moves very slowly.
Family tradition to grab lunch after a day at the beach. It will continue on as long as we do. Chowder and clam cakes are always the best here! Choose to sit outside or go in and take a break from the sun and watch a game.
Cook needs to go back to school too much dill in white chowder & cakes too doughy, left "WEIRD" taste left in my mouth glad to get home & brush my teeth
Large menu with gluten free options. Large portions on the seafood platter. Will definitely go back. Worth the 1 hour+ drive for me.
Please go elsewhere. Your lobster roll will certainly not be as good but my wait in line will be shorter. I love the sweet and salty RI lady who works the window. The Portside Special is another fav…. Great Bloody Mary with some big shrimp. Oysters are fresh and yummie. This is a great place to drop hundreds, eat at picnic tables and watch the ferries come and go. I can’t wait till next time.
A great beach town seafood place- the hot lobster rolls are spectacular- served overflowing with lobster and your own cup of melted butter on the side so you can eat them how you want! And I’m a Maine girl so this comes from long experience Lots of seating and parking too. Not cheap but I would rather pay the price and get the quality. Looking forward to returning next summer
The food was awesome. Great portions, excellent quality. But we were waiting, between the line and actually waiting for the order, 90 MINUTES. 65 in line alone. This was a Saturday night at 7 pm peak august season. We watched 3 ferries unload. I understand older family members may want to remain active in the business but maybe dont put them at the counter peak season? That mess was enough to negate the food quality; i wont make this mistake again. Figure it out, guys.
Bring Cash $$$$$$ - 12oz.
Can Bud Light $6.00 - food for two $50. To $60.bucks.
Outside dining on paper plates & plastic forks, knives. Oh Well!
Ordered stuffies but had to pay extra for tartar sauce because it doesn’t come with it. Ordered clam chowder and lobster bisque and only got one cracker bag to put in it…not worth $ to get the stuff if you can’t get condiments and things with them…The food was yummy though, tasted good!
Absolutely the best! Portions are huge. The lobster roll was outstanding, packed with large chunks of lobster. The fisherman platter was delicious and the portion was so big. There was no way my husband could finish in one sitting. Had to get food to go too. Chowder, clam cakes and pasta with clam sauce.
As a commercial Fisherman this is the first time visiting the restaurant, I can say I'm Impressed.
Cash only, good atmosphere. I've been going to Jimmy's portside for many years this is the worst experience, the food was absolutely. Really disappointed. After many years of being a loyal customer I will not be going back there anytime soon.
Outside is counter service only. Food was OK. Pint of chowder and a dozen clam fritters $23!
Great fresh seafood. Long line to order at a counter, find your own table and pick up the food from a window when called. CASH ONLY. Outside patio is literally on the side of the road
Just spent $100.00 on lunch, they tried to charge me 4%. To use my debit card. No fair to hard working middle class… if I knew this in advance I would not of gone here…. They don’t look after the patrons by doing this. I don’t care how good the food is. Not worth being gouged, luckily I had cash. The Crab Shack on the corner’s food is just as good and they do t charge c/c fees….
Excellent whole belly clams and fried flounder. It’s a walk up to order so service and atmosphere were just ok. Food worth the trip.
We have been to Jimmy's several times. 4 of us went last night, the food, the portions were incredible. My wife had Scallops - so sweet and juicy. Another had a fish casserole that was incredible. One of us had a lobster roll that was overflowing with super fresh lobster meat. I had whole belly clam roll so stuffed I didn't see the roll, and those belly were so fresh they popped in your mouth. THE BEST! Not to mention the apps we had - steamers, shrimp, clam cakes. And from what I hear Jimmy and his wife do all the cooking. If you never been there, your missing out on some great seafood.
Jimmy's is a class act.
